SERVICE BRAKES
I have a 2014 Hyundai Sonata, when I get in and press the brake pedal it is hard to push in and the car won't start till I try to pump the break pedal hard several times till it gives just a bit, then I can start the car up. I know there was a recall for the 2011 and 2012 cars, this report mimics the issue those cars have had a recall for. Once the car starts the brake pedal does work normally, till it sits and then it gets hard to push in again. I took the car to the dealer to be looked at and they wanted to keep it for a week before anyone would look at it, with $200 to start . I couldn't be without a car for that long so they didn't keep it.There were no warning lights and never have been. My fear is that the brakes will fail while driving..

This is in regards to NHTSA Opens Investigation of Hyundai and Kia Oil Drain Pan Assemblies Had my oil changed at BC AUTO REPAIR 7OO US HIGHWAY 41 Schererville, Indiana. On 5/3/2023. they feel they tongued the oil drain plug correctly and their insurance Auto Owners insurance has denied the claim my oil drain plug fell out due to BC auto repairs not tighten it correctly. I left on vacation 6/8/2023 and 2 miles from my destination the oil drain plug fell out causing severe damage to my 2017 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 liter engine VIN 5NPE34AF0HH539403. I had the car towed to Hyundai of North Charleston where the engine needed to be replaced because of missing oil drain plug. $9,342 later I was able to return home on 6/17/2023 new engine installed. with below is my itinerary. I have all bills and receipts. 6/8/2023 521 miles from home to sleep in Farragut TN no trouble. 6/9 146 miles form sleep in Farragut TN to friends no trouble. 6/10 256 miles to Charleston Ocean front villas. 2 miles from destination stopped in traffic engine stopped restarted oil light and check engine light came on. Made u turn to get out of traffic and maybe get some oil. Made approximately 1 mile engine stopped again and would not restart. Called CAP Towing they came and with the help of a motorist pushed me on to a drive way to get me off Folly Road. Car sat there with permission of owner until Monday 6/12. Towed to Dinkins auto service Monday Evening 6/12. Tuesday 6/13 in the morning Dinkins called to state the engine was locked with no oil and to tow it to Hyundai of north Charleston. Dinkins newer put car on lift checked in lot. Tuesday 6/13 was towed to Hyundai of north Charleston. Was looked at Wednesday 6/14 and I was informed the oil drain Plug was missing and engine would need to be replaced at my expense. Friday evening 6/16 9,342 dollars later I picked up my car at Hyundai of north Charleston with new engine installed. Drove all the way home 892 miles with. Engine burns oil at a very high rate. I can’t even make it to the recommended oil change mileage before it is completely out of oil and that is very unsafe. I have to either fill it up with oil or pay for a new oil change when it is not needed.

DTC subsystem EMS failed engine over heated. Car diagnostic failed displaying P00B700. Hyundai issued TSB covering issue dealer failed to notify since NHTSA did not require action. Car has been in garage waiting for appointment. This could have left me stranded.

Water continues to gush out of the driver side passenger door when opened after raining. I also found out on Friday, July 30, 2023, that water has been leaking into the trunk of my brand-new car since purchasing it on May 10, 2023. It's a hybrid. [XXX], Pearson Hyundai's New Car Sales Manager (who I bought my car from), and I are extremely concerned about water leaking into the trunk of an electric vehicle which puts me, my family and anyone else who rides in the car at potential risk. Currently my car is at Pearson Hyundai again to fix this issue for the fourth time. Attached are the three previous service invoices that I've received. If needed, I can provide three videos that I recorded of the same issue on May 30th, June 17th and July 1st. Please know that I have also shared the videos with [XXX], Pearson Hyundai's Service Manager and [XXX], Pearson's Service Advisor. On July 3, 2023, I filed a report with Hyundai Customer Service. The Case Number is [XXX]. The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated the trunk latch failed to latch properly and had fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V619000 (Latch/Locks/Linkages) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Additionally, while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate, and then stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

There is a clicking noise in my steering wheel every time I go over a bump or turn my steering wheel left. I was told by the mechanic that it is a coupler and should be under warranty or recall. It is becoming a hazard to steer the wheel

SERVICE BRAKES
My vehicle stopped on the side of the road in oncoming traffic and caused a back up because of my power brake system failing when it should have still been in good condition because I had just purchased my vehicle 7 months ago. The brake light came on made my car slow all the way down doesn’t go over 15 mph and has a skidding sound when braking and it happened again in the street away from home. And this has been seen in multiple vehicles such as the one I have.

1. The component or system that failed or malfunctioned is suspected to be related to oil consumption or engine failure, as indicated by the burning of 1 quarts of oil within 400 miles driven, premature burning of spark plugs (The spark plugs, which were replaced prematurely, can be made available for inspection upon request), stalling of car, not accelerating, and failing twice within a months' time. 2. The safety of both myself, my family and others were compromised due to the potential engine failure caused by the oil consumption issue. Engine failure poses a significant risk of sudden loss of power while driving, potentially leading to accidents or hazardous situations. 3. The problem was speculated by an independent service center. The dealership has been unresponsive and failed to address the issue adequately. 4. The vehicle was taken to the dealership on Tuesday, 6/27/2023, following its tow to an independent service center on Monday, 6/26/23. During the diagnostic, an engine issue was identified through the appearance of a specific code. The dealership submitted a report to request approval for an oil consumption test, but it was denied due to the vehicle being over the 5-year/60,000-mile warranty, which I was previously unaware of. 5.Prior to the failure, there were warning lamps, messages, and other symptoms of the problem. In July 2022, the vehicle started to stall and the check engine light came on. A diagnostic test at Autozone indicated a possible VVT solenoid issue. The car was taken to the dealership on 8/8/2022, where they claimed the car was operating fine. On 5/6/2023, during an oil change, an independent service center checked the stalling issue due to the intermittent check engine light. They mentioned oil consumption but advised me to monitor the situation. However, on 5/22/2023, the car stalled and died in a parking garage, resulting in a delay of 5 hours before I was able to drive it home. Subsequently, on 5/23/2023, I took the car to the

01/26/22 Brought 2016 Hyundai Sonata to Fremont Hyundai (Fremont CA) for "Smart Junction Box" recall. 08/12/22 Brought vehicle to Fremont Hyundai for intermittent turn signal recall. 04/10/23 Brought vehicle to Stevens Creek Hyundai for "A 993 HYIMMOA0 -Sonata (LF) S/W UPD & DECAL (23-01-014H-3) RECALL DEFAULT 31599 WH." Told the service dept the vehicle was still having turn signal issues. Refused to correct instead told us to need to bring back to Fremont Hynudai otherwise wanted to charge us $250 to correct it. We felt Steven Creek Hyundai should have corrected this instead of sending us back to Fremont CA.

My car has an anti theft defect that’s making cars like mine easy to be stolen. Over the weekend I took my kids to six flags and my car was stolen. I had my 3 kids with me and my wife. My kids are scared and feels unsafe. If theirs anything you guys can do to help me out, I will appreciate it. I do not have the money to fix my car at the time. I need my car to get back and forth to work.

STEERING
I noticed that the steering column was making a noise right after Hyunda replaced the defective motor. Car was leaking fluids and engine light came on. Benson Hyundai had the car towed. I mentioned that the steering did not feel right and I was concerned. They evaluated and said the mid steering shaft needed to be replaced. I noticed this was an issue with earlier models but did not see anything with the 2017 model. Thought it would be worth inquiring as the dealership is so nasty to deal with and don’t seem to have answers when I go to them.

My 2018 sonata has been stalling out while I’m driving more so when I accelerate.I have a baby that I’m scared to drive with in the car because it does it randomly. It has been happening more & more everyday. I got new parts/starter etc. No codes on dash. Have an appointment next week with Hyundai to take a look.

On June 17, 2023, while during this car suddenly it started losing speed, pressing accelerator did not help. I stopped the car and restarted, it drove for another 400 yards and stopped again. I checked with my obd2 and it gave a code of misfiring third cylinder. Car had a recent replacement of engine under warranty by Parks Hyundai of Gainesville as previous engine had started smoking in 2011. My recent calls to the dealership did not result in any return call from them. Car is standing at my house for the past two weeks. I am really SCARED to drive this car. Also fed up with the dealership which does not care even to return my calls.

They want to charge me over $1400 to keep replacing different parts of the engine. What can I do? The dealer is Taylor Hyundai on Washington Road in Augusta, GA.

Car has issues with fuel pump with only 64k miles. I was told by Hyundai that I need a new fuel pump. With such low mileage this appears most likely to be a manufacturing defect. Hyundai Sonata has had recall issues regarding this part in the past.

Picked up my car after getting my recalls done on May 10, 2023. Drove it for 2 days. As I was on my way home on the 2nd day, my car started giving me trouble. As I accelerate, the car will stall out and I will have to turn it off and back on just to get it out of the middle of the street. It won't go over 1000 RPMs. The EPS light, battery light, and engine light all lit up.

My car caught on fire while I was driving it. I was put at risk of burning, and being struck by other vehicles as I exited the burning car. Warning lamps came on just as another motorist alerted me to flames coming out of my car. Fire Department and Highway Patrol responded. Police report was filed. Insurance has looked at the car and declared it a total loss. Engine was replaced 7 months ago, under a recall for the Theta II 2.4 engine
