Steering is sticking as you are driving down the road. It almost has the same sensation with pulling away from you as if you have lane assist on. We have turned lane assist off because it only makes the steering worse. I feel like it could cause an accident at some point because I can see where a driver may overcorrect especially with it happening going around a curve. This is my daughter's car. Apparently there is no recall on this specific problem at this time. My older daughter's 2023 Honda Civic has the same issue and is currently waiting on a backordered part so that it can be fixed under warranty.

The issue with the engine start/stop button in Honda cars is a concerning matter that has drawn attention due to its potential safety implications and inconvenience for drivers. Reports have surfaced indicating that some Honda vehicles equipped with this feature may experience intermittent or complete failure of the engine start/stop button to function as intended. One notable manifestation of this problem is the inability to start the engine despite repeated attempts to press the start/stop button. In some cases, the button may become unresponsive altogether, leaving drivers stranded and unable to operate their vehicles. This malfunction poses not only a significant inconvenience but also a safety risk, particularly in emergency situations where the ability to start the engine promptly is crucial. The root cause of this issue is not always clear, as it may stem from various factors such as electrical failures, software glitches, or mechanical defects within the start/stop button mechanism itself. Regardless of the underlying cause, the consequence remains the same—an unpredictable and unreliable operation of a fundamental component in the vehicle's ignition system. For Honda owners experiencing this problem, it can lead to frustration and concern about the reliability of their vehicles, especially if the issue persists despite attempts to rectify it through repairs or maintenance. Additionally, there may be associated costs involved in diagnosing and fixing the malfunction, adding further inconvenience and financial strain to affected individuals.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle entered LIMP Mode and lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that there was a misfire in cylinder #3. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The VIN was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 175,000.

The Electric Power Steering unit is faulty. The steering locks up when driving above 30 MPH. A bit on input is required to unlock the steering wheel from the current position. The vehicle is difficult to maneuver as the steering wheel will lock in a direction, which means I have to constantly correct the steering wheel. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership and noted that the part is defective. There were no warnings or messages. I started to feel the wheel get stiffer and harder to drive. This occurred around November of 2023. The parts have been backordered since December of 2023 with no estimated delivery date.

The steering on the vehicle is "sticky" or "grabby". It is especially noticeable when trying to drive in a straight line at highway speeds. Car cannot be steered smoothly, but can only be steered with little jerks to the wheel. First noticed the problem after about 4,000 miles, and it has been an issue pretty consistently since then. Currently have about 31,000 miles on the vehicle. When reported to the dealer, they stated they had no reports of the issue and offered to run a diagnostic, which I declined at the time due to cost.

Over the past few months, I have noticed the steering wheel "sticking" while driving. It occurs most frequently on trips longer than 30 minutes or on trips at highway speeds (55+ mph) for any amount of time. The steering sticks at the 12 position and requires extra force to move it to the 11 or 1 positions. This makes it difficult to make micro-adjustments when driving straight or on slightly curved roads without wrenching the steering wheel in a way that causes the car to swerve or move further than expected/needed. The problem has been reproduced by the dealership McGovern Honda in Boston. The dealership expects the problem to become worse. The manufacturer has not inspected the vehicle or component, nor have the police or insurance agents. There were and are no warning messages or errors. The problem first became noticeable in February/March 2024.

While the wheel is centered and moving, primarily at highway speeds, the steering feels sticky in the sense where making slight corrections to the left or right causes over correction. While centered the wheel has a “hump” to overcome before steering input is registered at the wheels.

Infant mortality of the entire AC system due to faulty components. Cost of repair is $3000+. It is a common, systemic failure on this generation of Honda Civic. Lack of AC in hot regions can lead to unsafe mold growing in the vents as well as heat related illness potentially leading to death. This is a highly hazardous failure with a high likelihood of occurring, so it is unacceptable to allow this situation to continue without a full recall or reimbursement by Honda.

Steering becomes “sticky” when ambient temperature is about 70 degrees Fahrenheit or after driving from 30 minutes. Small adjustments in steering can not be done because steering sticks in position and causes more force to move it. This causes an over adjustment and swerving to keep the car in the lane.

When you drive the Civic, sometimes the steering wheel gets stuck and you have to apply a good amount of force to “unstick” the wheel and it’s not very pleasant especially with passengers. It’s more dangerous on long highway roads where it curves because my car’s steering wheel gets locked even stronger and you have to be more aggressive to unlock and it’s very dangerous if you overpower the steering and hit something next to you.

Our 2015 Honda Civic started reporting major malfunctions. Almost every error that was possible to report was coming on screen and the vehicle was stuck in "limp" mode and the speed was limited to 40mph. That night, we tried driving it to a mechanic when it suddenly could not accelerate anymore and died in the middle of a road. We are lucky that this happened on a less busy road as opposed to a busy road or highway where we could do nothing to get out of the way of traffic. But it was also a hazard that we were stuck late at night in the middle of nowhere. It had to be towed to a Honda dealer. The dealer then investigated the vehicle and found the issue. They diagnosed the issue as being a transmission failure. There was one recall issued for 2015 Honda Civics in the past and it was specifically for transmission failure issues. The dealer's findings are similar to the nature of the failure described in the previously issued recall. I believe it is possible the issue seen with our specific vehicle could be the same issue as was in the previous recall but our VIN number just happened to not fall in the range. That would make sense to me given that this vehicle is not that old and Civics are not known for having transmission failures at such a low mileage.

Recall for A/C components was serviced. Less than a year later, Evaporator for A/C experiencing same issue. Dealership doesn't want to warranty, asking for $1500, even though evaporator experiencing same issue as recalled components. Online research finds this is extremely common.

22-24 Honda civic Steering rack recall I feel to have no control of my vehicle and that my life as well as others are put at risk. I took my car to Honda for the safety inspection for the active recall they falsely dismissed according to Honda corporate. Nothing has been inspected other than my safety inspection when the dealership passed my car. I scheduled an appointment for a diagnosis as corporate told me to do after speaking to them, but the dealer didn’t do the diagnosis on my vehicle they just drove it and said it’s driving normal but once we returned they ordered a whole new steering rack for my vehicle after the service department passed my vehicle, but then informed me they sent the steering rack back and that I needed to go to the dealership I purchased my car from which is 41 minutes away after I stated the driving conditions of my vehicle and the potential risk to myself as well as others on the roadway.”refusal of service” Lane departure signal this started 1/17/24 to be exact but has became more of a quite frequent issue since then.

All of the lights come on periodically (lane departure can’t be used, it says braking system error, it says braking system could be decreased and says to have car serviced) I’ve taken it to the dealership once and they could not replicate it and said it could be a sensor but wasn’t sure I paid for a inspection because they didn’t know. Searching things now there are a ton of forums with the same problem for the same model and make.

Beginning about early February 2024, the steering of this vehicle became "sticky" at certain speeds. More specifically, above about 40 MPH the steering wheel will almost lock into place and resistance is felt when the driver attempts to turn the steering wheel in a different direction. Yes, I consent to an inspection by Honda or NHTSA representatives upon request. The described condition 1) can cause the driver to concentrate on the condition, and 2) can cause the driver to over-compensate when they turn the wheel from the sticky/stuck wheel position while driving. Yes, the condition was described to a local Honda dealer on February 11, 2024 (I have a copy of their report - which I have uploaded with this writing). While their diagnosis isn't shown on that report, the dealer verbally advised this writer that the problem I described was identified and the dealer provided me an estimate to replace a steering mechanism for a price of about $2,970. The dealer advised there was no recall on this vehicle for this problem. I later called Honda and was told the same thing. No, there were no warning lights or vehicle messages, or notifications from Honda, about this condition. As noted previously, the condition appeared about early February 2024.

While going down the highway the wheel will stick you have to push it to put back in line with the road. Kinda like sticky steering.
