Front end shakes violently if I hit a bump. Has happened numerous times usually above 50 mph. Only 21,000 thousand miles on vehicle and tires are in fair shape. Was told by a mechanic that it was a common problem on Ford 250 and advised to report the problem. Requires slowing down dramatically to allow to correct.

On a highway, 65-70 mph, drove over a rough patch of road and truck front end began to shake violently(death wobble). Happened three times on same day, same trip. On all occasions we were very lucky to be able to stop or slow down without being involved in an accident. I spent $5000 this past summer that was suppose to have fixed the problem.

While driving our 2019 Ford F250 Superduty at highway speeds it develops a "death wobble" at this point it is very difficult to control the truck and the only way to get it to stop the violent shaking is to come to a stop. This is a known problem for Ford and they claim the parts are on backorder and it'll be months before parts are available. This vehicle has been inspected at a Ford dealership twice but lack of parts makes it so it cannot be fixed. While driving the vehicle out of the garage the brakes locked up. The vehicle would travel only a couple feet in forward or reverse before it came to a halt. The vehicle needed to be towed to the dealership. Had this vehicle been on a highway the failure of the braking system causing it to come to halt could have caused a catastrophic accident.

The vehicle begins shaking violently on uneven roads at speeds of 55mph. Aggressive braking to reduce speed is the only way to stop it. The ford dealer admits this is the “death wobble”

My truck has done what is known as the death wobble, which is easily searchable. The infamous death wobble that many Ford truck drivers have experienced is a violent shaking of the front end of the truck and the steering wheel. This issue typically occurs at highway speeds or after hitting a bump in the road. But it can also occur under any typical driving conditions. Ford truck drivers who have experienced this violent shaking on the road describe it as a terrifying experience because many struggle to steer and keep control of the vehicle. Naturally, this temporary loss of control and difficulty steering can lead to an increased risk of accident, injury, or death. This first occurred in 2018 and the dealer serviced it replacing the steering column. It has happened a few more times since then but very minor. Yesterday, 1/9/2023, it occurred with every single minor bump on the interstate at speeds over 65mph. It was very violent to the point where my coffee cup bounced out of the cup holder during the wobble. To get it to stop, you must slow down to 30mph very quickly and can not steer during this time (must go straight). A few occurrences were very dangerous. One where I almost went through a curve and into a semi, and another where I was almost rear ended to slow down and get out of the wobble before the next corner. I took it to my dealer this morning. They said, "Ford has identified what they believe to be the problem, but does not have parts designed yet. You can either pay $280 for an aftermarket steering damper, deal with it or trade it in...up to you." 1) They didn't diagnose the problem. 2) Ford knows it's a know issue and is doing nothing about it. I have been a life long Ford customer, but no more after this!!! This truck is a death trap / disaster waiting to happen for me and any other drivers around me!

I was traveling on the interstate at the posted speed limit of 70 mph. I was crossing an overpass and upon exiting the overpass my vehicle began what is often referred to as ‘death wobble’. My front suspension began shaking so violently that I temporarily lost control of the vehicle and had to reduce my speed dramatically in the travel lane to regain control before I was able to steer into the emergency lane. Had I been hauling or towing a load I am sure this would have resulted in a wreck. Since this happened, I have read that Ford has refused to conduct a recall on this issue. I urge the NHTSA enter this situation and require Ford to address the issue.

At highway speeds (about 60 or more) when you hit almost any bump, the truck becomes almost uncontrollable due to the front end shaking.

Truck was driving 70 mph going to TN when it started shaking and grinding or awful noise. Lost control of steering d/t shaking. Slowed down and pulled over to side of road to check vehicle equipment. Made call to my son who said it's the death wobble, advised to slow below 60 mph. No death wobble again unless I hit a bump then it started again.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the rearview camera display screen would display a cloudy image while in use. The contact called the dealer and was given an estimate for the repair. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V644000 (Back Over Prevention) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer informed him that there were no recalls on the VIN; the contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

I received a recall notice a couple of years ago. I had only experienced minor steering issues before November 2022, such as small vibrations after hitting bumps which only lasted a second or two. Still, I went ahead and had several recalls addressed before the mileage limitation were reached. One of the recalls addressed a steering damper. They said it showed that it needed to be replaced under the recall. I had assumed the small vibrations I felt were the issues addressed in the recall. However, within a few weeks of getting the vehicle back I hit a small bump at the transition from an overpass to street level pavement on I-10 at FM 1516. The truck began to shake fairly violently until I lowered my speed to around 40MPH. I pulled off and inspected the tires/steering/bearings and found no major issues. The truck performed as intended upon re-entering the highway. About a month later I hit another small transition somewhere along Highway 47-Northwest of Highway 60 in College Station. The same issue arose where the truck shook violently until I lowered the speed to around 40MPH. I took the truck back to the dealer and they said now nothing was wrong except some worn ball joints. I find that hard to believe that in the 4 years I owned this truck nothing was seriously wrong until I had the recall "repaired". Now I believe the vehicle is less safe and now the dealer wants to charge $700 for what they say is now the issue.

The F250 will violently shake in an uncontrollable and unpredictable manner on occasion. It typically happens at speeds over 40 mph when encountering any variation from perfectly flat pavement. Ford has an extended warranty to cover the engineering and design failure of some portion of the steering and suspension system; however, the part is backordered and unavailable to make the covered repair. The vehicle is available to be inspected. The engineering and design flaw causes the vehicle to become uncontrollable while trying to come to a stop endangering the occupants as well as anyone or property in the path. The problem was confirmed by a ford dealer and was stated “it is a known issue with the vehicle” It has not been examined by anyone other than the ford dealership. There were no warning signs from the vehicle; however, an internet search revealed numerous incidents that sound identical. Ford was contacted multiple times, they said they would contact me in reference to a solution 3 times. They never did contact me, when I was able to inquire I was met with an indifferent attitude about my safety and others safety.

I was driving on the highway over a bridge and the truck started wobbling uncontrollably when I hit 55. The scary part is you couldn’t really control the vehicle when it was wobbling like that. So the next day we went and bought me shocks for the front and back and it’s doing this.
