In December 2022, I received a safety recall notice from Ford stating, dust contamination may lead to loss of electrical circuit connection, which may result in failure of airbag to deploy in an accident. Ford stated that when parts become available, they would notify me via email to schedule a service appointment for repairs to be completed free of charge (parts & labor). Parts are anticipated to be available early first quarter 2023. My dealer has no information about availability of parts yet. I am following up, in hope to learn the status of this important safety recall. Thank you, [XXX] sent Feb. 8, 2023 INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I have experienced the Death Rattle with my 2018 F250-SD on 3 occasions: First was in late summer of '22, the second time was in November of '22 and the third time was on Feb. 5, 2023. In all 3 instances the weather was clear, no rain or snow on the road and I was traveling at 65 mph. The first & second time I thought it was due to a rough patch of road surface on the highway. On Sunday I was hauling my 14' GN trailer with one horse in it and drove over a minimal rough patch on the 2 lane county highway when it froze up. In the first example I was in city traffic and drifted over to the left shoulder. In the 2ed & 3ed examples there were no other passenger vehicle beside me so I was able to drift over to the closest shoulder to reset the truck. All 3 instances happened with no warning and no warning light appeared on the dash- just clatter and a freeze up. I have an appointment on 2/15/2023 with the Ford dealership where we purchased the truck.

This vehicle was delivered in July 2022. Shortly after receiving it the steering controls and horn were not always working. I then noticed a clicking sound in the steering wheel. In Sept 2022 My local Ford dealer said they replaced the clock spring, but two days to a week after the replacement, the same issue started again. A Ford technician is going to look at this again on Friday 2/3/23.

The issue is the Ford Death Wobble. It has happened to me four times now in the past two months. The first two times, I was not sure what it was. After the third, I called my local Ford dealership and informed them. They scheduled a time and I was to bring it there. The day before I was supposed to bring it, it did it again. The first time it happened, I was driving 70mph on a 65mph highway, going over a bridge when the truck started to shake profusely causing the steering wheel to jerk left and right. I had zero control over the truck. I began to slowly mash the break while being violently shaken and bounced around for a hundred yards, bouncing in and out of my lane. Luckily, there was no traffic at this time and I stopped without harm to any individual. I chalked it up to a scary incident and went about my business. Second time I was going over a bumpy road at 55mph when again, the truck began to violently shake and bounce out of control until I could get it to stop in the ditch on the side of the road. After taking it to a Ford dealer, they informed me of a few things that needed to be done and replaced, which we did. Four days after getting the truck back and “fixed” I was hauling my trailer and equipment for work when going 45min over a bumpy road, the truck began to again, violently shake and bounce until I could come to a stop. I took it back to the Ford dealership and they now recommend replacing all wheel bearings and damper assembly. They assured me the first time, the problem would be fixed. Have already spent $2,300 on them attempting to fix it and now they are recommending another fix of over $1,800 but now telling me, “it might not fix the issue.” I have a family. I am terrified I am going to harm myself or another individual while operating this f250. Ford wants me to dump money into a problem that they are aware of but refuse to make right. This issue, if not fixed, could kill myself or another individual or seriously harm someone.

I bought brand new in 2018 a 2018 ford f250 this vehicle now has 39,000 miles and no upgrades of any kind other than a 5th wheel hitch installed in the bed. after going above 45mph and hitting a bump I get a massive wheel wobble that will only stop if I pull to the side and stop, this has happened 10-12 times since i have owned it. I do not believe I need to pay for this because i paid 65,000 dollars for it to be a safe vehicle. I only buy fords and my family only buys fords. if this can't get corrected you will lose ford owners for life. I can be reached at 931-905-8240

We were driving on the interstate going about 70 mph and hit a small bump in the road and the truck started to shake uncontrollably and felt like the truck was coming apart. My husband was able to get it to the shoulder and stopped. We've had the truck to Ford Motor Co. and they claim they've fixed the problem by replacing the steering dampener. There seems to be a bigger issue with the F-250 than this. This is a severe safety issue.

The truck will shake violently when hitting a bump or dip in the road going speeds of 55MPH or higher. The only way to stop this is to slow down to a near stop. The first time this occurred was around 7000 miles on the truck. Ford replaced a steering dampener and sent me on my way. The issue occurred again at 55000 miles. The dealership said that they do warrant the part, but do not have the part in stock and may never get the part in again due to part shortage. This truck cannot be driven due to the violent shaking that almost caused an accident. Someone is going to get hurt or worse, killed due to this issue and it appears that Ford will not do anything about it. I have a $50,000 paperweight in my driveway.

DEF heater/sender assembly was replaced under Ford 21M01 recall. However, the damaged caused by these defective items caused the need to repair additional component's that was not paid for by Ford. Ford will not reimburse additional cost, and can not furnish a statement from a Ford engineer that states the defective replaced parts did not cause the additional repairs. (expense).
