I was driving on the highway at 70mph when the truck started jerking and downshifting from 6th gear to 1st gear erratically. I pulled off the highway and the gears continued shifting all over the place and then the wrench light see manual warning came on and the truck stopped completely. I had it towed to the dealership who said they would complete the fix for the recall but that the transmission cooler line also needed fixed which would cost $1226.00. They said I probably ran over something, which I did not. I believe the sudden and violent downshifting which is the recall caused this to break and should be included. This was a terrifying situation where I was almost in a car accident. The truck is not drivable and I have also had to pay for two tows now because this is also not covered in the recall.

I am writing to report a serious safety issue introduced by a recent firmware update regarding the Sport mode and 1-pedal driving behavior. After driving the vehicle in Sport mode, parking, and restarting, the dashboard prompts me to return to Sport mode. When I select "Yes," the dashboard indicates that the vehicle has switched to Sport mode. However, the vehicle silently reverts to Normal mode, which has a much more relaxed braking pattern for 1-pedal driving than the expected, shorter braking path of Sport mode. Compounding the danger, this issue occurs inconsistently. Sport mode occasionally does stick upon restart, which creates a false and dangerous level of confidence in the system. The unexpected drop in braking responsiveness has already caused multiple near-miss collisions.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted into low gear, and the rear wheels locked up. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle lost traction and slid uncontrollably before coming to a stop on the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear differential needed to be replaced. The VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train); however, the vehicle was not repaired because the manufacturer required that the owner pay out-of-pocket for the rear differential replacement, even though the rear differential failure was directly associated with the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 300,000.

Ford provides various driving modes for this truck, by their own description this setting changes the responsiveness of the steering, acceleration, and regenerative braking. This mode defaults to "Normal" at startup, with a short on-screen prompt to return to the previous mode. While this is incredibly frustrating, on its own probably doesn't rise to the level of a reportable issue. However sometime in November the truck received an OTA update that has introduced a bug that causes the truck to make an uncommanded return to the Normal drive mode. Regardless of how the truck is put into Sport or another mode (either the "return to mode" prompt, or going into the vehicle menu and selecting another mode) after a few minutes of driving the truck will return to Normal mode. This causes a change in steering responsiveness, and since I usually drive in Sport mode, also reduced the regenerative braking, meaning letting off the accelerator doesn't slow the truck as much as expected. A for representative mentioned on the FordLighting forums that Ford engineers were aware of the problem and looking for a solution back in January, but we haven't seen anything more from them since.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving in 8th and higher gears, the transmission was shifting erratically, shifting hard, slipping, and shuddering. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the re-manufactured transmission needed to be replaced; however, the dealer informed the contact that the repair was not covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25E070000 (Power Train); because the transmission currently exceeded 8,000 miles. The contact stated that the required mileage was not stated in the recall notification, and the recall remedy was not available when the failure initially occurred. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired under warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The re-manufactured transmission failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 104,000.

- #11750426July 14, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I am the owner of a 2014 Ford F-150 that is experiencing sudden, unexpected downshifts into a lower gear while driving at highway speed. This has happened on multiple occasions and has nearly caused accidents, including loss of vehicle control momentarily. This defect matches the description of Ford safety recall 26S45 (loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module, causing unexpected downshift into first gear). Despite this, my vehicle was not included when I checked recall status, even though I have an open Ford claim number: Cxh-08412521-F6L5j4. I am filing this complaint to ensure this incident is on record given the ongoing safety risk, and to request that NHTSA confirm whether my VIN should be captured under recall 26S45 or a related campaign (24S37/24V444). Description: Transmission suddenly and dramatically downshifts at highway speed without warning, causing loss of vehicle control and near-accidents.

Brakes seem to be staying engaged when driving this has been for about 1 yr. Now all of a sudden, my truck wouldn't stop. Thankfully, I was pulling in to my own driveway, but now I'm not sure what to do about the situation. I jave seen a lot of complaints on 2013 F150 with ecoboost 3.5l and I don't think it's right that only certain vins are recalled when obviously A LOT of others should be included.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving in 10th gear, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to 3rd gear, and then to 1st gear. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to shift into the intended gear, shifted hard into drive(D) or in reverse(R), and the vehicle overheated intermittently. The contact stated that while driving 70-75 MPH, the vehicle decelerated to 40 MPH in the middle of the interstate. The power train warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the warning light disappeared. The contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 184,000.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his fiancé was stopped at a stop sign, the vehicle accelerated violently after depressing the accelerator pedal, and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle continued accelerating while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed through a yard, into a road sign, before crashing into the rear of a parked vehicle, where the vehicle came to a stop. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy upon impact. The driver sustained whiplash and soreness in various parts of the body but had not sought medical attention. A Police report was filed. The road sign was damaged. The driver coasted the vehicle back to the residence before the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. A diagnostic test was performed on the vehicle; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure or duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

My F150 will, on occasion, not accelerate when I am going slow and making a right turn. There are no fault lights, just the engine does nothing when I press the gas pedal. I coast to the intersection, apply the breaks, start the right turn, then press the accelerator to speed up. For about 6 seconds nothing happens (regardless of how hard I press the pedal), then the engine engages and the truck accelerates. I have mentioned this to my dealer several times, but they just keep explaining that they have not heard of the issue and they cannot replicate. I fear this may cause a serious accident if not resolved.

I bought the vehicle at 33,000 miles. Since 40,000 miles I’ve noticed hard shifting and stickiness in my powertrain whether in high gear or low gear. I’m at 105000 currently, and wasn’t warned of any of these manufacturing issue when I bought it. The worst of it has always been 1st gear. The lack of responsiveness and slow shifting has caused me on numerous occasions to propel forward suddenly in parking lots and other sites.

Recall 26V237 / Ford 26S28** Vehicle 2015 Ford F 150 VIN: [XXX] Recall Reference NHTSA Recall: 26V237 Ford Recall: 26S28 Summary of Active Safety Defect My vehicle is experiencing the exact defect described in Recall 26V237. I have had two unintended downshifts within the past two weeks while traveling at approximately 35–40 mph. Each event caused abrupt deceleration and temporary rear wheel traction loss. Events • Two unintended downshifts in two weeks • Speeds ~35–40 mph • Abrupt wheel speed reduction and rear wheel slide • “Check Engine” light illuminated • Powertrain warning indicators present Diagnostic Findings My independent mechanic retrieved three powertrain related error codes. He confirmed the codes and symptoms match the recall condition. Ford and Dealer Response My servicing dealer in [XXX] stated the software remedy will not be available until XXX. Ford Customer Service confirmed the same and additionally stated that no loaner vehicle or rental reimbursement is available, even though the defect is active and recurring. Safety Concern The recall notice states this defect “may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.” Because the defect has already occurred twice at moderate speeds, I am concerned about the risk of recurrence at highway speeds. Impact of Remedy Delay With the remedy unavailable until mid 2026 and Ford offering no interim transportation support, I have determined that the vehicle is unsafe to operate. I have parked the truck to avoid the risk of a crash. Reason for Reporting to NHTSA I am filing this complaint because: • The defect is actively occurring • The recall remedy is delayed • Ford is providing no interim transportation assistance • I have had to park the vehicle for safety • I want this documented in case broader action or guidance is needed I request NHTSA review this case and determine whether additional oversight or interim safety guidance is appropriate. The transmission will intermittently shift out of gear and sometimes in and out of gears at will when driving and slams into gears sometimes. This creates a massive liability when on the road.

I was driving down the highway and the right, rear window shattered and blew glass all over the inside of my truck (the cab). There was no incident, no stress cracks, etc. The window simply “exploded”. I drove to the nearest Ford Dealership, assuming it would be covered under my bumper to bumper warranty. After the dealership had my vehicle a full week, they informed me Ford would not pay. I told them to order the window and replace it as I needed my vehicle back. I ended up being without my truck for two weeks. I paid $591.60 and called Ford today, to ask for reimbursement. I was told they cannot do so as the warranty only covers “windshields” for 12 months. I reminded the agent that this is a rear passenger window to no avail. After a little research, I’ve found that hundreds of F-150 owners have had this occur. *My granddaughter could have been in that seat as it was the rear passenger seat! This is a dangerous issue. I am still cleaning up glass, I continue to find all over the cab.

I purchased a set of 4 LT275 /65 R18 BF Goodrich K02 tires on 8/19/2022 from Discount Tire. I notice some cracking along the front passenger side wall. I took it to Discount Tire and the verified that all four tires were doing the same thing. My family was driving at high speeds multiple places the days before finding this out. It should be able to be confirmed. It was inspected by the store. I had no prior issues with the tires.
