Since shortly after buying my F-150 truck, I have had an ongoing issue with the Brake problem notification light coming on. I have spoken to the local Ford Dealership about this issue several times and had no resolution. They told me they could do an inspection, but it would cost me over $500, and only if they found a warranty issue that they were responsible for would they reimburse me the cost of the inspection. They also said that if the notification light was not on when they did the inspection, they would be unlikely to find an issue even if one existed. The warning light can go days or weeks without appearing and can stay on anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so. I have tried to get the truck to the dealership several times, but it always goes off before I can get there (the dealership is about 40 minutes drive from my house). I am concerned because the warning light comes on more often these days but I still can not get the truck to the dealership with the light on. As the issue appears to be increasing in frequency, I am getting more concerned. The first time this appeared was approximately August 2024.

The torque converter inside my transmission on my 2023 f-150 “started coming apart” and has spread metal throughout my entire transmission and transmission cooler. There was no warning signs or lights that were shown to me other than when I noticed the problem which prompted me to immediately set up an appointment with my local ford dealer for a diagnosis and check up. It is a safety hazard because it can cause Sudden Gear Slippage & Power Loss: The torque converter may lose its ability to transfer power to the transmission, causing sudden drops in acceleration or unintended revving where the engine speeds up but the vehicle does not. This is extremely dangerous when trying to merge onto highways.Violent Shuddering: A faulty lockup clutch causes a harsh bucking sensation—often described as driving over a heavy rumble strip—usually between 35 and 70 mph. This can cause a sudden loss of vehicle control.Severe Overheating: Slippage and failing parts generate massive amounts of excess friction and heat. This boiled transmission fluid can melt internal seals, leading to fluid leaks, permanent clutch damage, and a potential engine bay fire if the fluid hits hot engine components. It can also cause Unintended Stalling and the vehicle shut off at stop lights or when driving. The truck is only 3 years old with 70,000 miles which is just outside of the powertrain 65,000 mile warranty. It was investigated and diagnosed by Trilakes ford in Branson. It has since been brought up to ford for a goodwill warranty claim to see what they can do to help with the $13,682 repair cost estimate that was given to me.

- #11752362July 23, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The driver's side headlamp has a significant amount of shadows within the beam. This is in both the low beam and high beam modes. The shadows are highly visible on the road, and create a significant distraction while driving. This distraction is made significantly worse by the vehicles adaptive headlight system, as the shadows move on the road then you turn the steering wheel. The causes the driver's eyes to focus on the moving shadows, rather than on the road ahead. Additionally, the shadows in the headlamp significantly reduce visibility on the driver's side of the car, making it far more difficult to see animals or debris in the road. The vehicle was purchased new and the issue has been prevalent since the very beginning. Ford customer service will not help. Ford dealers tell me that the see the issues, and it should be that way, but are unwilling to replace the headlamp assembly because the cannot determine the root case (code), and are fearful that Ford will just charge them back for the warrant repair.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle abruptly lost power, decelerated and stalled. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle off the road and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was later towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the driveshaft had sheared off inside the shaft and the vehicle was undrivable and informed the contact that the drive shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V986000 (POWER TRAIN, STRUCTURE). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 212,000.

A/C shuts off after 30-45 minutes of running cold. It’s clear from the amount of condensation after I park, that the evaporator core is freezing due to a faulty temperature sensor

There is only 47,602 miles on my truck. When starting “cold”, the transmission takes about 15-20 seconds to engage. It slips if I immediately put it in gear. I took it to the dealer before even having 2000 miles on it and they said Nothing was wrong. I took it back at about 15,000 miles and got the same response. I’m afraid it might lock up while driving.

I am reporting a vehicle safety failure and dealership diagnostic non-compliance regarding Safety Recall 26S28 (NHTSA Campaign 26V237000) on my 2017 Ford F-150. While accelerating, the vehicle suddenly lost its transmission output shaft speed sensor signal, dropping the truck into a dangerous, low-power fail-safe "Limp Mode" that locked the transmission into 3rd/5th gear. An advanced diagnostic scan prior to dealership service confirmed stored trouble codes P0722 (Output Shaft Speed Sensor) and P061A. I brought the vehicle to a certified Ford dealership for the safety recall remedy. The dealership applied a software update and dismissed my hardware failure complaint, stating no active codes were present. Because this is an intermittent electronic defect, it rarely throws a permanent dashboard light at idle in a service bay. The dealership appears to have only run a basic surface-level scan, failing to check the deeper Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) or Permanent Code menus where intermittent transmission safety faults are archived. The dealership's failure to deeply investigate verified safety defect codes before clearing computer memory leaves consumers exposed to recurring power loss on active roadways. I am seeking a mandated dealer rescan of the deep-set modules or a formal tracking document of this failure to protect my warranty coverage when the hardware fails again.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced unexpected transmission downshifts, which required the driver to pull over to the side of the road. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the molded leadframe was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, where the transmission was rebuilt. The contact stated that while driving after the repair, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed to the transmission specialist, where an unknown repair was performed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the transmission specialist, where the molded leadframe was replaced, but the failure persisted. The contact received notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the powertrain control module (PCM) software update was completed; however, the failure recurred the same day. The driver pulled over, turned off and restarted the vehicle, and resumed driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the molded leadframe needed to be replaced; however, the contact informed the dealer that the molded leadframe was replaced twice in the previous three months, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure prior to the recall repair, and a case was filed. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 199,325.

I experienced an unintended-acceleration event in a parking lot while maneuvering at low speed. I was alternating between Reverse and Drive to adjust the vehicle’s position within a parking space when, after selecting Drive, the truck unexpectedly surged forward with substantial acceleration. I applied the brakes immediately and with significant force, but the brake pedal felt unusually soft and stopping response seemed reduced. The vehicle struck a large commercial trash bin; I narrowly avoided striking the building behind it. Damage was primarily superficial, but the incident had clear potential for more serious property damage or injury. I have prior experience operating EVs with one-pedal driving and do not believe this event resulted from driver error. Following the incident, I disabled one-pedal driving and have used traditional drive mode. I have not experienced another unintended-acceleration event since making that change. Given the low-speed maneuver, the sudden forward surge, and the apparent relationship to one-pedal-drive operation, I believe the event warrants formal documentation and technical investigation.

My teenage son bought a used 2013 Ford F-150 with 111,000 miles on it about a year and a half ago. It had been running fine up until about 3 months ago when he started having issues with the transmission intermittently jumping gears while he is driving. The vehicle jumps to 3rd and 5th gear out of nowhere and then doesn't come out of that gear. Even when you turn it off and back on, the vehicle will stay in 3rd or 5th gear and then randomly fix itself. There are other times where the vehicle will not come out of first gear. We brought the truck into a local repair shop and and the mechanic informed us that Ford had an Extended Warranty Program, campaign 19N01, that should cover this known safety issue. When we brought it into Ford they confirmed the issue qualified for the campaign but the truck was out of time so they would not cover the repair. This is tough to understand since the vehicle didn't show any issues related to the problem until after the time ran out. Also, when buying the vehicle, we ran the VIN to check for recalls and this issue did not show up. I find it interesting that they categorized it in a way that it would not show up on a recall list and someone buying a used truck would not be aware of this problem. This is a huge safety concern since he could be driving down the road, or even on the highway, and the truck could jump to 5th gear and then downshift to 3rd gear or even worse all the way down to 1st gear. Why isn't Ford being held accountable to fix these issues even if they show up 10 years after the manufacture date?

I brought my 2014 Ford F-150 to Gentilini Ford in Woodbine NJ in response to recall notice number 24S37 on XXX for an issue with the molded leadframe on the 6R80 transmission. The recall gave the option of reprogramming the existing leadframe or replacing the leadframe. My leadframe was reprogrammed and not replaced. Shortly after the recall while driving back to [XXX] from NC, the transmission dropped into first gear while cruising down a narrow road causing the back tires to chirp. Several dash lights then came on and the transmission went into limp mode which included rough shifting, sluggish starts, no speedometer or several gauges. When I made it to a point where it was safe to pull over, I immediately turned off the truck and did a visual inspection to make sure there was no damage. I returned to my truck began researching the issue online and quickly realized that it was caused by the actions taken during the recall. I placed several calls to Ford with no recourse. In late May of 2026, I learned of a new recall aimed at the correction of the recall and Ford was replacing the leadframes that were reprogrammed. Upon further research, I learned that late year 2014 f-150's with the 6R80 transmission were not included in the recall. I am reaching out for help in forcing Ford to include my truck in the recall. The issue happens almost every time I drive now and will eventually reset back to normal mode after several stops and restarts. It is a very dangerous situation when my speed drops dramatically on the narrow roads of North Carolina. There are no shoulders on the roads and the only place to pull over in the majority of situations is into a drainage ditch. Please help!!! While driving on the highway at approximately 65mph the trucks display showed that the transmission shifted from 9th gear down to 1st gear, the truck however did not stall or shift hard. Shortly after the Ford pass sent a message stating there is a power train malfunction / reduced power. And that the transmission control module has detected a concern when trying to shift 4th gear. And a failsafe logic disabled 4th gear for the remainder of the key cycle.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled in the middle of an intersection and was nearly involved in a crash. The vehicle restarted after approximately three minutes. The contact stated that the failure recurred on a second occasion. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train); however, the dealer informed the contact that a liability waiver needed to be signed prior to servicing the vehicle. The contact declined to sign the waiver, stating that the requirement violated federal law regarding recall repairs. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 195,000.

multi-component engine failure while being operated under normal driving conditions. Despite rigorous, routine, and fully documented preventive maintenance performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, the vehicle suffered an instantaneous breakdown of its core mechanical systems. A diagnostic assessment confirmed that a sweeping array of vital engine components—including the cam phasers, turbocharger, lifters, timing chain, and associated valvetrain assemblies—all failed simultaneously. Rather than a progressive wear-and-tear issue or a failure caused by neglect, this unprecedented, all-at-once collapse points to a massive, systemic mechanical breakdown. This has rendered the engine entirely non-functional and requires a complete overhaul or engine replacement.

My local Ford Dealer (Tallahassee Ford) which I had just purchased the vehicle from two weeks prior. Refused to repair NHTSA Recall Number26V237 they wanted to charge me over 2000 dollars to fix even though it has a recall. I ended up getting the lead frame replaced at a local transmission shop for little over 1000 dollars. I would like to be reimbursed for the money and time I spent.
