- #11659667May 8, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The rear tail light bar and back up light has moisture in it. It no longer works, the back up light also does not work. This is a known defect and there is a recall for this issue on many Ford Lightning pickups. For some reason my truck is not included in the recall. The vehicle is available for inspection. I have no illumination when backing up, I feel this is an unsafe condition. The dealer has confirmed there is moisture in the tail light bar. No other entity has inspected the vehicle. I first noticed the problem when after putting the truck in reverse at night I could not see behind me while backing up.

Automatic Transmission does not shift properly. It seems like it goes into neutral in between gears. It did this while I was turning and I was almost struck in the side because truck would not go. It shifts really hard and seems like it’s being put into park. I’ve had software update and truck continues to do same thing.

Driveability Issue - Ford 10R80 10 speed transmission. Turning into traffic (45MPH speed limit) from parking lot, in Drive gear, transmission disengaged, cause motor to rev. Released accelerator pedal, and had to wait for transmission to reengage drive gear. Transmission provides hard upshifts/downshifts. Local dealer technician test drove the vehicle and confirmed complaint. Technician inspected the issue, found no codes indicating an issue, but found that there is a hydraulic circuit leakage and the test of this circuit failed . Vehicle has approximately 57,000 miles on it. Dealers recommended fix is to purchase a new transmission. This issue came close to causing vehicle to be involved in a rear end collision. This should be a manufacturers recall.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the failure was acknowledged, and the dealer performed a software update that the contact was informed would solve the failure. The contact then reached out to another dealer that stated that the software update was no longer performed due to the update worsening the failure. The dealer refused to service the vehicle and directed the contact back to the original dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and acknowledged that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer also informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.

Several times the automatic transmission has shifted from tenth gear to first gear while going 65mph plus. On numerous occasions the transmission seems to slip out of gear while driving and has done so while in intersections and while merging into traffic. Both of these issues have happened on multiple occasions.

- #11659523May 7, 2025SEAT BELTS, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The vehicle rolled and killed the occupant because the roof caved in. The shoulder portion of the seat belt did not hold the occupant (only the lap portion) and the occupant was partially ejected out of the rear of the cab. The vehicle was inspected and purchased by State Farm insurance since the vehicle was totaled. The 2000's Ford F-150s have roofs that are too weak to support the weight of the vehicle, thereby putting the occupants in danger of injury or death. This is well documented. There were no warnings.

2016 Ford F-150 pickup has no backup camera or front camera. Resets have done nothing. Defective module, camera wiring or camera itself has to be defective. I heard the 2015 model Ford pickups have a recall associated with this problem.

The door latches on some of the f150s, including mine, freeze under certain weather conditions. This presents the latches from opening. This can trap an individual inside in an emergency situation, or prevent someone from opening the door external to remove or address babies and children, which is an issue I experienced. Ford is aware of the problem, but will not repair unless the issue is replicated in an unrealistic environment. This leaves many owners at risk of a dangerous situation should the issue occur in a non-controlled environment. The inverse issue can also occur, where the door latches does not close properly and can cause the door to open during driving, and this has also been experienced. There are no warnings of the problem ahead of time.

On [XXX] while driving at 70mph on [XXX] my 2017 F-150 began to shift into multiple gears causing the computer to shut down the trans causing me to coast from the center lane off to the shoulder. the truck shut down. and would not allow me to shift until the computer reset and then allowed me to go home. This happened again on Friday [XXX] leaving me stranded for 20 min in the center turn lane in Berea Ky. I Called the local for dealer who advised they had never seen this issue. I called Ford Customer Care and filed a complaint. on April 7th i took it to Richmond Ky AAMCO Transmission. They advised there is a TSB (technical service Bulletin on the LEAD Frame. The Lead frame houses all the electronic components to the shift solenoid plate. this frame unit is the culprit. and gets dirt between the solenoid electric pigtails causing shorts which causes the trans to freakout. Needless to say it cost me 1600.00 to get this issue fixed. they replaced the lead frame put in a fam spacer that protects the the sominoid connections, the also replaced the solenoid valve plate. Driving home today, my truck just started downshifting without warning. My truck was almost rear ended. I had about 5 min until I got home. It would take off and drive fine for a moment, and then out of nowhere drop all the way down to first gear. Very dangerous!
