- #11670728July 2, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving, a vehicle began stopping in front of me. I attempted to stop, however my braking power seemed heavily reduced. Eventually the emergency automatic braking kicked in and engaged my emergency brake. I barely stopped in time. Simultaneously, several warning lights appeared on my dash including ABS, traction control, hill assist, and check engine. Immediately after the incident, my brake pedal felt loose. Braking power was severely diminished and delayed. Stopping while going a mere 5 mph would take about 10 yards. It was extremely dangerous and scary to operate - even to pull into the nearest safe parking lot. Upon restarting my vehicle twice, the lights went off except for the check engine light and my braking power returned.

At a little over 56,500 files, the engine started having a load rattling noise during a cold start where the engine has been sitting for a few hours. I dig some Google searches and found that the noise was related to the cam phaser issue associated with Ford's 3.5L Ecoboost engines so I took it to Jim Vreeland Ford in Buellton, CA to get an official diagnosis on July 1, 2025 that costed me $196. The dealer confirmed that the noise is caused by the cam phaser issued that was noted in Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03, which I never received a notification for. Ford apparently issued TSB 23-2143 to address the issue, and I was quoted $3158.07 to address the issue along with $2026.71 for unrelated but recommended components that should be replaced at the same time. I was told that this can lead to catastrophic engine failure if not addressed. Ford is refusing to cover any of the cost.

The transmission unexpectedly downshift's to 1st gear, instrument gauges go dark, wheels have locked up, motor then lacks power. The issues have been going on for a while and recently had to stop on the side of the road 5 times in the 20 mile trip home from work. 2011 F-150 is unsafe to drive. Called Ford Customer Service on July 2, 2025. Case Number [XXX]. Was informed a prior Recall 16S19 addressing these issues was performed in 2016. A second recall 19S07 was issued for the same reasons. The service rep said this vin number is not listed; apparently it does not cover this vehicle. Ford customer service rep suggested filing a complaint with NHTSA.gov as this has been an ongoing safety issue. Unless NHTSA is made aware of an issue can it be addressed or in this case readdressed because the repairs by Ford has failed as a long term solution. I’m filing this complaint regarding a major transmission failure in my 2018 Ford F-150 (VIN: [XXX] ) with just over 40,000 miles. The issue resulted in multiple loss-of-drivability incidents while pulling out into traffic. On several occasions, the vehicle failed to engage or hesitated severely when shifting into gear, leaving me stranded on the wrong side of the road. In one instance, I was forced to manually cycle through gears to try and regain forward momentum while cars approached at speed. This created a dangerous situation not only for me but for other drivers. The vehicle showed no prior warning lights or messages before the issue occurred. A certified repair shop pulled diagnostic codes and identified a transmission-related fault. I was advised to take the truck to a Ford dealership, where they confirmed a transmission failure requiring a full replacement, quoted at nearly $10,000. A transmission failure at this mileage is unacceptable and unsafe. I’m reporting this as a safety concern due to the sudden loss of power and drive function in live traffic situations. I’ve since found reports of similar issues from other F-150 owners. This needs further investigation and consideration for recall or formal service campaign. Ford REFUSED to address the known safety issues with the 10R80 10 speed transmission defective CDF drum and defective valve body the whole 42 to times it was taken to the dealership under warranty. Like everyone else with these transmission, Ford and their dealerships continued to lied to all us owners and said it was working fine and there was nothing defective with this transmission.. As of May 23, 2023 Ford issued a TSB 22-2428, TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT Automatic Transmission - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift - Built On Or Before 23-Dec-2022 " Ford issued a TSB and not a recall since they knew the affected vehicles would be out of warranty and they could then charge the owners pay for repair cost of $8,000- $12,000 for a new transmission replacement. Ford refuses to replace these transmission at their expense, if you are out of warranty, which most are unless you have a extend warranty. How it even legal that they aren't required by law to replace these transmission at the full expense of Ford since they clearly sold us vehicles with known defective transmission from the beginning and refused to address when the vehicles were under warranty. Many of us owners can't believe the NHTSA would allow a safety issue like this to continue on our roadways without forcing Ford to recall and replace all these defective transmission at Ford expense.

Back up camera is foggy, can't make out objects, when it rains hard and your backing up camera alert signal goes off even if nothing is there. When rain stops and there are a few dry days of weather the camera is still foggy and unable to make out objects. The service department can examine the camera and easily see the problem. The camera has no clear picture.

- #11670921July 2, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
While driving, the vehicle has been going into limp mode at varying speeds on the roadway or while pulling onto the road. The problem lies within the components of the electric throttle body. The system malfunctions and locks the throttle body closed, thus putting the truck into limp mode. Shutting the vehicle off, waiting, and restarting temporarily resolves this issue UNTIL the PCM detects a fault in the electrical components of the throttle body and sends the truck into limp mode. When this happens, it also triggers a warning message regarding hill start assist. This is an extreme safety issue as pulling onto the roadway or loosing power in traffic and not being able to pull off can lead to collisions especially around blind curves or in heavy traffic. There also isn’t always a location to safely pull off the roadway, potentially leaving the vehicle and its operator in the roadway, increasing the risk of collision and injury
