  Some 2021-2026 Ford/Lincoln vehicles may exhibit various symptoms including but not limited to the auto start/stop system not operating as intended with a "Check Charging System" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) while the charging system is operating properly with no charging related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored. This may be due to someone using an aftermarket programmer to change the body control module (BCM) configuration to disable the auto start/stop system or perform other unsupported programming modifications. To correct this condition on F-150 and Bronco vehicles, download and run the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) application titled "BCM-Charging System Configuration Correction". Running this application will determine if the BCM configuration was modified by the customer and if so, provide the option to return the configuration back to factory settings. For other vehicle models exhibiting concerns related to unsupported aftermarket BCM programming, submit a Technical Support Request (TSR) requesting support to revert the BCM configuration

To correct this condition, reprogram the PSCM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). For claiming, use causal part 3C529 and labor operations 3504E and PSCM. If a software update is not available for the PSCM, the PSCM is already at the latest software level. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 211-02 for normal diagnostics. In addition, the wastegate actuator rod (9E408), associated retention springs (9342) and retaining clips (00817) have been released as lower-level components to complete the repair without replacing the entire turbocharger wastegate actuator assembly.

This may be due to the selectable one-way clutch (SOWC). To correct the condition, remove the transmission. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) > Section 307-01. Disassemble the transmission only far enough to access the SOWC. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01 > Overhaul and perform Steps 34-66. Remove the SOWC assembly, disassemble the A-clutch and discard the SOWC. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01 > Overhaul and perform Steps 164-170. Assemble the new SOWC with the A-clutch components. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01 > Overhaul and perform Steps 173-179. The A-clutch seals can be reused unless damaged. Install the new SOWC and reverse the procedure to reassemble the transmission. Replacement/reprogramming of the IPC will not resolve this condition. Monitor PTS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available. If this condition is encountered, enter a vehicle identification number (VIN) and click the "Submit Global Concern Report (GCR)" link at the upper right of the PTS "Vehicle ID" screen. Fill out the GCR form, referencing this article number in the report.

This may be due to an open circuit on circuit SBB05 and/or a damaged splice S133. Before performing the pinpoint test for P04CA in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 310-00, inspect circuit SBB05 and splice S133 for damage such as an open circuit. Repair as necessary.   Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with wired keyless entry keypad systems and accessory wireless keyless entry keypad systems may or may not come with a wallet card containing the master code. Unlike the integrated wired keypad, the accessory wireless keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool or from the label printed on the body control module (BCM). The Factory Keyless Entry Code application within the diagnostic scan tool will not provide an applicable master code for the accessory wireless keypad. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is not available, the "Wireless RF Keypad Diagnosis Guide" can be referenced and provides direction on how to retrieve the master code.   Some 2025-2026 Escape vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0073 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and/or B1B38 stored in the body control module (BCM). The vehicle may also exhibit no ambient air temperature reading shown in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and/or center display screen. This may be due to a pinched, chafed, or severed wiring harness 15K867. To inspect the suspect area of the harness for damage, turn the steering wheel to the left and remove the four lower push pins from the front passenger side fender liner. Gently fold the liner inward and visually inspect the visible portion of harness 15K867 below the passenger side headlamp and follow the harness down behind the visible parts behind the front parking aid sensors.
