Ford will resolve this issue by updating the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software. This software update will be provided free of charge to vehicle owners. The update can be performed by a Ford dealer or, for eligible vehicles, through an over-the-air (OTA) update.

Interim letters were mailed to owners on June 26, 2025, to notify them of the safety risk. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available for each phase. Owner notification letters were sent on October 8, 2025.
