There was a safety recall on the 2025 VW Taos that I drive ([XXX]). On XXX an incident occurred causing a gear shift. The vehicle was dropped off at to Kelly Volkswagen in [XXX], [XXX] on XXX. The gear shift issue cause damage to the back on the vehicle. The collision center gave me a quote 3,600 dollars to fix the car. I hold VW responsible for what happen to the car. I was told that this is being investigate and I have not received a resolution yet. To backtrack, I did not get the Vehicle back until XXX from the collision center. VW did not make any attempt to reach out to the collision center to assess the findings. on XXX, the same thing occurred with the vehicle the gear was in drive and shift to reverse, I'm lucky I was a space where I was able to stop on time before the care hit any object. 2022 VW Blue Taos. January 2026, paint was feeling from driver side door and hood. The vehicle was under corrosion warranty. The dealership saw the photos taken, stated there was no corrosion and it appeared to be an adhesion issue, which would not be covered under warranty. Volkswagen CARES states the same. The issue has progressed in the areas, leaving large spots of exposed body.

This vehicle has a known manufacturer defect of the head gasket, causing coolant to leak out, and possible engine overheating. This issue was announced in a service bulletin by Volkswagen in 2023 but a recall was not issued. I did not find out about this until after my warranty expired, and the dealership recommended a $5,000 replacement.

- #11764726September 16, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I have a 2024 Volkswagen Taos, stock tires and rims, I reported a difference in the vehicles speed that scales at 50mph (speedometer) and every GPS reading 53, at 60mph the GPS reads 64, at 70 GPS reads 76, and at 80 the GPS reads 87, well...86 is what I was ticketed for, 86 in a 70, admittedly it was my fault, I believed I was doing 80, the radar gun said 87/88 but the officer was kind enough to only ticket me for 15 over, 16 would have gotten me impounded. I thought theres no way, but I review my dashcam (which also shows speed) and it recorded 88, in Ohio under 15 is speeding, 16mph over the posted limit is reckless driving, 8 mph is a lot, so far one dealership (Evans VW Dayton OH) and Volkswagen customer "care" have said nothing can be done because the vehicle isn't reporting an error, but i found online that this a knows issue with their 2024 Taos model, I tell them that and they refused to investigate.

Marietta Volkswagen diagnosed a failed 5F module; the center display screen is completely inoperative; the rearview/backup-camera image therefore does not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse; VW says the module is on national backorder with no ETA; and the vehicle is being used by a [XXX] driver. Volkswagen Customer Care has already been contacted but could not help and that the repair is covered under warranty but cannot currently be completed so the vehicle remains unrepaired and is being operated without a rear view camera display . I went to the Fiesta Albqueurque VW June 2025 multiple times resulting in close to 2 weeks without a car. Found a oil leak and head gasket - bolt jam replaced. In XXX, car shook, took it to first Fiesta ABQ, who identified a low battery charge. However, the car continued to shake end of XXX and we then, took this to Rudolph volkswagon, [XXX], that blamed it on bad fuel (invoice attached). Check engine sign turned off for a day, and came back on on our major trip up north from [XXX] to [XXX]. This Dealership told us that we would be safe on the road from [XXX] to [XXX]. Yes, we made it but by sheer luck. third Attempt, took this car to [XXX], VW and they were able to change: CHANGED THE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER AND REFILLED THE ENGINE WITH 4.2 QUARTS OF 0W20 SYNTHETIC OIL WITH A SPIN ON OIL FILTER AND REPLACED THE DRAIN PLUG AND DRAIN PLUG CRUSH WASHER. RESET THE SERVICE INTERVAL DISPLAY. CHECKED AND TOPPED OFF ALL FLUIDS LEVELS. REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID, BLED AND TOPPED OFF THE SYSTEM. MULTI-POINT INSPECTION COMPLETED NO RECOMMENDATIONS AT THIS TIME PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MULTIPOINT INSPECTION A VIDEO MULTIPOINT INSPECTION WAS PROVIDED. RESET THE MAINTENANCE INDICATOR AND APPLIED A MAINTENANCE REMINDER STICKER ON THE VEHICLE Hose was finally replaced. Out of pocket costs app $400. Since there were numerous efforts I will list the final work done on the car however, I have all invoices needed since June 2025. I have too many invoices to upload. Your upload cannot handle size Also note all dealerships notified. No one takes accountability. Ref: XXX 2 Lemon law first hired: 1st one wasted my time; 2nd one stated VW did not take accountability and refused to deal with me. Brake Recall for VW 2023 Taos - Nov 2024 (10 or 11K Mileage). Brake pads changed. Continued to hear Brake Squeeking: taken in 10/15/2025, 11/14/2024, 1/3/2025, 5/17/2025. 12 mm at initial recall dropped to 7 mm at 17,900 miles. Upon leaving dealership, tech states VW uses "refurbished brake pads." Dealer washed pads, and sent me home. I have all invoices, they are larger in size. Unable to attach

I bought my 2022 VW Taos with only 16,000 miles and one previous owner. In 2023. In 2025 with only 42,000 miles the head gaskets were leaking and needed replaced. This was a COMMON issue that somehow isn’t a recall? Yet 90% of complaints on this list, including mine are for this exact reason. It was under warranty and was fixed, however in 2026 with only 68,000 miles my ECP, ABS, check engine light, and emergency transmission light all are on. My car is currently stuck in 2nd gear as a precaution to not destroy the transmission. The mechanism needed to fix this was quoted to me as being 1,500 to 2,000 JUST FOR THE PART! Not including labor and other fixes to go along with it. This isn’t cheap, reliable or safe. And the car is pretty much a waste at this point.

The brake pedal failed and went to the floor; the vehicle would not brake. The service center identified the issue as a problem with the master cylinder. The vehicle had been serviced at an authorized service center every 10,000 miles. This incident occurred while driving and posed a threat to life and safety; the vehicle is a 2025 model.

On XXX, a 2026 Volkswagen Taos SEL AWD with approximately 8,931 miles experienced a sudden failure of the front panoramic sunroof glass while traveling at highway speed on [XXX] in [XXX]. The vehicle was purchased new in January 2026. Shortly before the incident, the vehicle displayed a front-assist/visibility warning. Approximately two minutes later, without any known impact or other warning, the driver heard an extremely loud sound similar to a gunshot. The panoramic sunroof glass suddenly shattered, leaving a large opening in the roof. The explosive sound and glass failure severely startled the driver at highway speed. She became extremely distressed while attempting to safely exit the highway. Fortunately, no collision occurred. The vehicle was immediately taken to an authorized Volkswagen dealership, where it remains available for inspection. The dealer recommended replacement of the front sunroof glass for $1,532.03 but declined warranty coverage, verbally stating that because the vehicle was being driven, something “must have” struck the glass. We requested the diagnostic findings and evidence supporting an external-impact determination. The repair recommendation provided contains no diagnostic findings, and the “Observations” section is blank. As of this complaint, we have not been provided a specific impact point, chip, crater, penetration point, photograph, or other physical evidence demonstrating external impact. Volkswagen Customer Care has opened a case. The cause of the glass failure remains disputed/UNKNOWN. There were no known warnings or symptoms indicating an impending sunroof glass failure/explosion. The jagged hole in the sunroof is greater than 50% of the surface area of the sunroof. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Low coolant warning in red triangle showed up on my 2023 TAOS. Coolant in the reservoir was very low. I notice that there is a Technical Service Bulletin 15-23-01 rather than an official safety recall on 2022 and 2023 Taos 1.5T for head gasket coolant leak. There are many complaints regarding this issue on many message boards. We all fear that this problem will intensify as we all move out of powertrain warranty. Can you please instruct Volkswagen to have a recall on this issue? Thanks!

My 2022 Taos has major paint defects where the paint is just peeling off. I took it to dealer around 40k miles and told them about it and they said it was out of warranty already and nothing they could do for me. After doing research I see many other people with same car and same complaint online so I took it to a body shop and they confirmed what everyone online is saying that my vehicle appears to never have gotten primer before it was painted in the areas that the paint is chipping away

The center console repeatedly displays the message "Emergency call cannot be made." The message first appeared in approximately a few months after starting the lease and has recurred since. When it appears it interrupts navigation guidance and audio playback, and it can repeat several times during a single drive, including while driving at highway speed. The repeated alerts are a distraction while driving. The emergency call (SOS) system does not function reliably. I cannot depend on it to summon assistance after a crash, which is the purpose of the system. The vehicle was taken to several authorized VW dealers. They said this is a known issue and had little to offer. I contacted VW directly who helped change the network configuration on the telematics unit. The fault stopped for approximately 6 month and then returned. It is currently occurring on a regular basis. The vehicle has approximately 10,000 miles. No crash, fire, or injury has resulted.

- #11761558September 2, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I have been to the dealership numerous times since buying the vehicle over engine issues. Typically what happens is either the epc, check engine light, or both come on. All advanced driver systems turn off and the car enters limp mode where I can barely get it above 30 mph. The first time I was told it was an issue with spark plugs. The second time I was told a part did not get put back on correctly after changing my oil. The third time I was told spark plugs at first but when I reminded them they had changed them less than a year ago I was told it was bad gas. I had the dept of agriculture in MS check the gas at the station and it was fine. Then it happened again and I was told again bad gas. There have been numerous reports of similar on social media I have photos and pdfs of the reports but could not upload them all.

At highway speeds, the speedometer does not show actual moving speed. I’ve noticed it will be ranging 5-10 mph difference. Car will display 65 mph but police radar and gps will say a speed in the 70s. Everything stock.

No back up camera. Entire display screen went black. Software crash? Tried rebooting by holding down buttons, locking and walking away. Nothing still black. No words on the screen. This concerns me because of the kids that play in the yard and my older kids that back out with the car. It will cost me $200 just to perform a scan for faulty codes. And then, if it’s a dead control module, just the part is $900. Can’t afford this, but need the back up camera. Car is no longer under warranty. Shouldn’t this be a safety recall? The side panels next to the speedometer won’t load anything either. Anything except the speed won’t come up in the middle, just loops and says “starting compass” then “compass is not available”. No setting on the display screen, no radio or phone, etc. just black. The speed, mi. to empty, temp., and cruise control work. Along with the gas gage and temp. gage. I read it may need a USB update using an OTIS machine? Infotainment update.? TSB-91-23-03?

- #11758707August 22, 2026ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
On July 30, 2026, while driving my 2022 Volkswagen Taos out of my apartment parking lot, the EPC and check engine lights illuminated. The vehicle shook, lagged, stalled, and could not accelerate normally. I parked and turned it off. An authorized Volkswagen dealer diagnosed a faulty spark plug. On August 12, the same failure recurred. The EPC and check engine lights illuminated, the vehicle shook, and it again lost acceleration. The dealer attributed the misfire to poor fuel caused by Arizona monsoon and dust-storm conditions and added a fuel additive. However, the only major dust storm around these dates occurred on August 19, after the first two incidents. No fuel-test results were provided to support this explanation. On August 20, the failure occurred a third time while I was driving on a major road. The vehicle shook and experienced a severe loss of propulsion and acceleration. The check engine light remained on after the engine was turned off. I had to restart the vehicle three times before I could move it into a parking lot. I was less than one mile from entering a highway, and the sudden loss of acceleration in traffic created a serious collision risk. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. On August 21, the dealer again attributed the misfire to poor fuel. It added fuel-system cleaner, filled the tank with 91-octane fuel, and test-drove the vehicle, but the misfire remained. The technician then reported that three spark plugs were fouled and required replacement. The same dangerous loss-of-power condition occurred three times within 22 days despite two prior repair attempts. The cause of the repeated misfires and fouled plugs remains unidentified. The vehicle is at the Volkswagen dealership and is available for inspection. There was no crash, fire, or injury.

The infotainment system on my 2022 Volkswagen Taos began displaying a persistent "frozen software update" notification approximately six days prior to June 28, 2026. This condition disabled normal use of the radio and, most significantly, the vehicle's backup camera — a federally required safety feature. The vehicle was brought to an authorized VW dealership for a scheduled 110,000-mile service completed on June 27, 2026, with resolution of this software freeze as the primary concern. The issue remained unresolved following that visit. Prior guidance to leave the vehicle running while parked to allow the update to complete was followed with no change in the condition. The vehicle was returned to the dealership on the evening of June 28, 2026, with an additional appointment scheduled for the morning of June 30, 2026, specifically to address the unresolved defect. As of this filing, the backup camera and radio functions remain impaired due to this unresolved software failure, despite a dealer service visit.
