the brake hubs started smoking and got hot. 9/13/26 I was rear ended but no warning was initiated or airbag. now I have no brake pads and was unable to stop. I had an oil change due 30thousand miles but Affenburg in Shilo IL turned me away. I'm not happy with the maintenance people for not helping this last year. I was not informed of my last recall or brake extension. this is a new car 2022 I expect better safety reminders and connection from Volkswagen. The bad brake system doesn't work. I do love my Taos as I feel it was made for me but the company is bad about honoring warranty issues.

Battery low voltage on dash have had it to dealer more then 3x and they say everything is fine. Suspenshion rear and front gave been given issues was told after bringing to my dealer that both where broken and they couldn't tell me why when there is no collision or anything that could have caused it. Front sensor has falsely detected objects and has thrown .e into emergency park while driving on many accasions and also was told they couldn't identify why

Saturday night, [XXX], the infotainment screen went black and all associated functions ceased including the back-up camera. I believed the car was unsafe. I took the car to the dealer, Fitzgerald Automotive in Frederick Maryland, on Monday morning and later that afternoon they called to say the F5 component went bad and is backordered. They could not give me a date when that part would come in. Cost would be $2500. Car is just 6000 miles beyond the warranty in miles and less than 4 years old. I purchased the car at Fitzgerald and have had all service done since owning the car. Cost would be $2500. There was no warning. The dealer has now had my car for 3 weeks. - #11771192October 14, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
This brand new car is under-reporting my actual speed. When my speedometer says that I am going 80MPH, I am actually going 85MPH. When my speedometer says I am going 60MPH, I am actually going 64MPH. We have this documented by the dealership, as well as us using an app that shows actual speed. The dealership is stating that they will not fix it, as this problem falls in line with acceptable parameters. I have also called VW corporate, and they are stating the same thing. I do not think it is safe for me to think I am going 80MPH while my actual speed is 5MPH faster than that. This is a definite safety hazard. I do understand that it is normal for car manufacturers to under-report speed on the speedometer, such is the speedometer saying I am going 80MPH, but my actual speed would be, say, 78MPH. But my speedometer is UNDER-REPORTING my speed, which could be very dangerous. It also puts me in a possible situation to get a speeding ticket, when I think I am actually driving the speed limit or below. I have videos, and paperwork from the dealership, and will upload all of that information if you tell me that I have a valid case that this car is not safe. Thanks.

- #11770183October 9, 2026STRUCTURE:BODY
2022 TAOS - Without warning, impact, or external influence, the factory exterior paint on the roof panel completely lost adhesion and delaminated from the factory primer layer. The peeling area measures approximately 4x9 inches (roughly 10 inches diagonally) with jagged, rough edges, located directly in front of the panoramic sunroof assembly. The rough edges indicate an ongoing materials failure where the color topcoat is continuing to lift and separate cleanly from the e-coat, leaving the underlying primer layer completely intact. This layout proves zero stone chips, collision damage, or environmental exposure caused the failure. The loss of topcoat integrity compromises the structural body panels, exposing the roof to rapid rust degradation. The local dealership (Dublin Volkswagen in California) has documented the vehicle under multi-point inspection history (Invoice WCS169791) showing no structural damage to the area. Volkswagen Customer CARE has opened active corporate Case #07781838 regarding this systemic defect. STATUS: PENDING RETURN CALL FROM SERVICE MANAGER.

On [XXX], while driving through [XXX] in high-speed highway traffic, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic loss of throttle response and engine power. The instrument cluster displayed a solid Check Engine light alongside an Electronic Power Control (EPC) warning light and assist system failure notifications. The complete loss of acceleration forced the driver to coast across active highway lanes onto a dangerous shoulder, creating an immediate and severe collision risk. This sudden loss-of-drive-power symptom mirrors the safety hazard detailed under NHTSA Recall #23V-214 (VW Campaign 20DV). This breakdown is the third major powertrain failure on this vehicle across just 13,382 miles of ownership. Prior dealer-serviced failures include a failed camshaft seal requiring replacement (Feb 2025) and a complete Transmission Mechatronic Unit replacement (Aug 2025). 100% of all mechanical service and maintenance has been performed exclusively at an authorized Volkswagen dealership. The vehicle is available for inspection. Volkswagen of America and the dealer have been formally notified under active Case #[XXX] but have failed to remedy the vehicle or provide safe replacement transportation. This vehicle is still under factory warranty and CPO. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11769181October 5, 2026SUSPENSION, STEERING, WHEELS
While driving a 2022 Volkswagen Taos at about 25 mph on a straight, level two-lane road in a 25 mph zone, the vehicle moved left across the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle front-left corner to front-left corner. The driver reported hearing a loud pop before the vehicle moved left. COMPONENT: Left-front steering linkage. Scene photographs taken before towing show the two front wheels pointed in opposite directions, with the left front wheel turned well beyond the steering system's physical lock, which cannot occur with an intact linkage. The insurer's appraiser documented damage to the left-front inner tie rod, steering knuckle, lower control arm, wheel hub, and drive axle. The left front tire sidewall is torn and the rim is damaged. The vehicle and all components are preserved in post-crash condition and available for inspection. EVENT DATA: A Bosch CDR download of the airbag control module by an independent forensic engineering firm recorded the five seconds before impact: steering wheel angle within 4 degrees of center throughout and 0 degrees at the final sample; speed 24.2 to 24.9 mph; steady light throttle; no braking; no ABS activity. The vehicle was not steered across the center line. WARNINGS: None. A full-system diagnostic scan the day after the crash found no stored fault codes in the steering, brake, or airbag modules. No warning lamps or messages appeared before the incident. INSPECTIONS: Police responded and filed a report; no summons was issued. The other driver told police the vehicle "suddenly veered left." The insurer's appraiser inspected the vehicle. An independent forensic firm downloaded the event data recorder. Neither the manufacturer nor a dealer has inspected the vehicle. SAFETY RISK: Loss of directional control at road speed caused a head-on-type collision with an oncoming vehicle, in which airbags deployed. Cause of the linkage separation is under investigation; it is unknown whether it preceded or resulted from impact.

The transmission completely failed, first it was showing emergency transmission in safe mode messages, if you stopped the car turned it off and back on it would go away. After getting a transmission flush the day after my car's transmission completely failed...leaving me in the middle of the road with no power to go forward or backwards. I got towed back to the dealership and am basically being told to replace the transmission entirely with no reason as to why this has happened at only 57,000 miles. Yes it is available for inspection if needed at the dealership. My safety was put at risk because I was stranded in the middle of the road with no way to move my car without towing it. There are other reproductions of this from other customers online I found with similar issues. It has only been inspected by the dealership. There were "emergency transmission in safe mode" messages 2 days prior to the trip to the dealership.

During a routine multi-point inspection, my 2024 Volkswagen Taos rear brake pads were found completely worn down to 1mm at just over 24,000 miles. Premature rear brake pad wear on 2022–2024 VW Taos vehicles is a widely documented defect that degrades braking performance, increases stopping distances, and poses a serious safety risk if pads wear down to metal-on-metal unnoticed. Volkswagen issued a 24-month/24,000-mile warranty extension for this exact issue. However, because my mileage slightly exceeds 24,000 miles, both the dealership service manager and Volkswagen Corporate Customer Care refused to cover the repair or file a goodwill claim, leaving me with a $978.97 dealer repair quote. Premature rear pad failure at barely 24k miles represents a defective component that should be subject to a safety recall.

On XXX, I first noticed harsh jerking from the transmission of my 2026 Volkswagen Taos (VIN [XXX], purchased new XXX, ~8,000 miles). On XXX the instrument cluster displayed "transmission in emergency mode," accompanied by severe vibration, RPM fluctuation at low speeds, and a loud grinding/rattling noise. My minor child was in the vehicle at the time and was frightened. After the vehicle sat parked, the warning cleared, but abnormal sounds and vibration remained. I brought the vehicle to Gunther Volkswagen of [XXX], on XXX, where it has remained since awaiting transmission repair (a loaner was provided). I am concerned the transmission could fail or lose motive power again without warning. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I bought the vehicle 3 years ago and currently it is at the shop to have the engine wiring harnes repaired. A few weeks ago, my dashboard started glitching. On 9/19/2026, my vehicle would not start. The check engine, EPC, low battery voltage, and traction light came on. I had to call someone to give me a jump so that my vehicle would start. It was impossible for the vehicle to keep a charge and it kept acting up in traffic. The dealership now wants to charge me about $650 for a new battery. I believe that the faulty engine wiring harness caused the battery to die prematurely and I should not have to pay for it.

- #11766229September 22, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
A recurring fuel-odor and drivability problem began while the vehicle was under manufacturer warranty and was never permanently resolved. In September 2022, a Volkswagen dealer documented code P2421 for an EVAP system vent valve stuck open and performed a software update. In June 2024, another Volkswagen dealer documented a strong fuel smell intermittently entering the passenger compartment but found no leak and made no repair. In April 2025, the vehicle was reported to sputter when accelerating from a stop. In July 2025, fuel odor at startup, poor fuel economy, and slow acceleration were again reported, but no leak was found and the vehicle was declared to be operating normally. In June 2026, the vehicle developed an EPC warning and codes P0316 and P0302, resulting in diagnosis of a cylinder 2 injector problem. In September 2026, another repair facility documented continued gas smell, hesitation, possible misfire, cold-start code P0316, and a damaged intake-pipe O-ring causing an air leak. Fuel odor and drivability concerns continued. On September 22, 2026, Volkswagen Customer CARE advised that the vehicle should not be driven until the fuel-leak concern is resolved and instructed that it be towed to an authorized Volkswagen dealership. My concern is that a potentially safety-related fuel/EVAP and drivability defect was repeatedly reported over several years but was never permanently identified or corrected. That wording tracks the records in your packet: the 2022 P2421 EVAP finding, 2024 cabin fuel odor, 2025 sputtering, 2026 P0316/P0302, the damaged intake O-ring, and VW’s later do-not-drive warning.

The infotainment touch screen on my 2023 Volkswagen Taos has completely blacked out and failed, leaving my backup camera entirely inoperable. This has created a severe blind-spot hazard where I cannot safely reverse. On top of this failure, the vehicle has a chronic history of being in and out of the dealership service department for unresolved fuel system problems, specifically regarding the fuel injectors and fuel lines under warranty. The dealership has repeatedly failed to permanently fix this fuel defect. Now, the car actively loses engine acceleration and drops into a dangerous slow crawl ('limp mode') at busy intersections when the air conditioning is running, forcing me to turn off the climate control just to move safely. Combined, these recurring powertrain and electrical defects create an immediate, severe safety hazard for myself and my young children while driving.
