STEERING
Power steering malfunction caused by computer glitch when we had a bump. SeeNHTSA recall #17V-595 for earlier manufactured Metris.Yes- available for inspection. Yes, loss of power steering endangered us an anything in our path as we attempted to steer the van without powered steering I don’t know if it can be confirmed by a independent service center, but there is a history of this with other owners and I assumed it can. It has been inspected by a Merecedes service center, see the enclosed repair estimate. No warning ,a bell dinged a red service message came on when we hit the bump.

I am the owner of 2018 Mercedes Benz Matrix. The car was purchased in order to use it for business on renting platform. It does have recall which is not active and in review for more than a year. Because of it Im not able to use the car, all renting platforms are blocking the car because it is open recall. Mercedes doesn't have remedy obviously, and just have it pending. Im loosing all business/ money because of this recall. The car is just standing parked, as I understand it is unsafe to drive for me and for other people.

After one year of ownership, purchased used from dealer with 40 miles) I have to replace control unit due to the location of the unit in the car developing mold from condensation. Is a common problem, is widely discussed on the internet, and MBZ does not cover under warranty. The repair is to replace the unit ($2,700 in labor/parts) and place a plastic bag over the new unit.

The aluminum bolts that hold the power steer motor failed: one bolt was sheered off, one was completely missing, and another was completely unthreaded. Apparently, this is a known recall in some states but not WA: [XXX] I'm unclear why my WA-based aluminum bolts were not a part of the recall and replacement with steel bolts...
