Some M264 Engines are predisposition to premature cylinder head failure, this issue can cause significant misfire issues. It also leads to a costly repair. We experienced issues with a P219D code , we had the coils and plugs replaced on a 2020 GLC 300 with 38.5 k miles. We assumed that this issues with a misfire and check engine light were corrected. My wife was turning onto [XXX] in Pascagoula MS last week, the car misfired and stalled with cars and semi trucks rapidly approaching, several cars had to slam on breaks and this issues almost caused a significant wreck. She had to pull over to gain her composure, the car would not over above 2k RPMs. I showed up and was able to to restart the car , I immediately drove it back to the repair shop. The shop bore scoped the #2 cylinder, the valve seating is significantly damaged, thus causing a significant loss of engine power / misfire in cylinder 2. I reached out to Mercedes Benz USA and was advised to take the GLC300 to the dealer that sold us the car. At present the is being evaluated by the MB dealer. MB USA is well aware of issues regarding cylinder head failure. There is actually a low mileage GLC 300 at MB of Mobile with the same problem as our MB. They have sent out service bulletins to every MB Dealership in the US regarding this issue. Likewise they have extended the warranty on several MB models that share the same engine that are mounted for front wheel drive cars, M260 engine. The M264 is an identical engine that is mounted for rear wheel dive vehicles. It is beyond obvious that a significant loss of engine power poses a threat to the driver/occupants and other vehicles/occupants on the road. MB USA is well aware of this issue with their engines. Not only do they have a service bulletin regarding this matter , they have repair protocols which include a cylinder head replacement. This is a consumer and safety issue that needs to be corrected on applicable GLC 300 models. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMAT

- #11653863April 10, 2025LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE
1. Rear Hatch hands free system - closes unexpectedly while loading or unloading car without using feet to trigger system. Hatch will close down and trap driver in the rear, causing bruising on driver and requiring assistance to push hatch back up. Has been into dealer multiple times since this is HUGE risk to animals or small children exiting out of the rear. Dealer finally disabled hands free system. 2. Lane change assist/blind spot warning - Auto believes there's a vehicle in the lane to either side and will stop car from changing lanes, when actually there isn't a vehicle there. Has caused several close calls due to signaling to change lanes the car will then try to pull back into previous lane. Warning light remains on the side mirrors even when there are no vehicles in the lane. This is especially hazardous while driving at night and in less than optimal weather conditions.

I was driving and my engine light came on. I ran the code and it came up as P052E which has to do with the positive crankcase ventilation regulator valve. I’ve heard that this part goes out very often on the Mercedes Benz.

- #11651058March 27, 2025UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Dear Sirs: I own a 2020 GLC300W Mercedes SUV. As of this date, It has stalled 5 times while driving on the highway and on the roads within an 8 month period. Throughout this period, I have taken the vehicle to the Mercedes dealership in Riverside, CA three times to have this inspected. After their first inspection, the dealership claimed that the problem was due to a recall on a computer software update needed. However, the vehicle stalled two more times while driving on the highway. After the second inspection, the dealership claimed the problem was due to a bad throttle actuator and charged me $2000 for the repair. Two months later, the vehicle stalled on the road once again. Currently, the dealership is inspecting the vehicle for a THIRD time. I have viewed your NHTS website and came across NHTSA campaign number: 23V445, Problem Description: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2023 C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS, SL, GT, GLC, GLE, GLS, and G-Class vehicles. Please refer to MBUSA's recall report for specific vehicle details. The fuel pump may shutdown, which can result in a loss of drive power." I believe this is the cause of my 2020 Mercedes doing the exact same thing, however the 2020 model is not listed in this recall. Please investigate this as this may be fuel pump issue applies to 2020 models.

While driving on the [XXX] at the speed of 10 to 15miles per hour, I noticed a smoke in the from hood on the passenger side. I felt a danger and stopped the car and got out of the car immediately along with my friend, leaving my belongings phone and other documents etc. Immediately it caught up the fire. I called 911 and reported the incident. Police and Fire engine arrived and tried to stop the fire. I have sent out an email to the dealership as the vehicle is under guaranty and i haven't got any courtesy call to know about the incident. When i tried to call them they didn't even respond to me and hung the phone. I received a call from their sales department and enquiring about if i'm looking for any other vehicle which disappointed me more. I'm in shock and would like this to be investigated as this major security concern. On [XXX] my GLC 300 AWD while driving back from work started shaking, went into limp mode, engine started misfiring and check engine light came on. Pulled over into a parking and called Mercedes-Benz road side assistance, they sent a tow truck and the car was towed to the Mercedes-Benz of Oklahoma City. The service department informed us of cylinder head failure and told SUV needs cylinder head replacement that would be covered under the extended Mercedes warranty. As of March 22, 2025 SUV is still at the Mercedes dealer and not fixed. This is the second time in past few months GLC went into limp mode and lost power and acceleration while on road, it was towed to the Mercedes dealer. They initially said they couldn't find anything wrong but later performed an update of engine management software on the recommendation of Mercedes-Benz USA. Car was fixed at that time. I was backing out of my driveway and was putting the car in Drive when the airbag located in my steering wheel deployed without a reason. The car has not been inspected by anyone as of today. I was told there was a warning but that it was not of immediate attention in November of 2024.

While driving my vehicle on March 3, 2025 the check engine light came on. Additionally my vehicle began to shake. I was scheduled for a service appointment on March 5, 2025 and told the service department the check engine light need to be addressed. Upon inspection, it was determine the cylinder head needed to be replaced due to a leaking exhaust valve. Estimated cost of $8,818.12. I was devastated and disappointed we had a 2020 Mercedes GLC 300 had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM in 2023. The cost to repair was estimated at $9000!!! How coincidental is that 2 vehicles in the same family have the same problem on newer model vehicles!!!! After researching the web, we discovered that the warranty was extended on the M260 cylinder head however my engine is M264 engine just for RWD cars. Mercedes will not cover it even though this is the 2nd GLC 300 that WE have reported the problem with the cylinder head. They would not even replace the part and we pay for the labor. I am truly disappointed and most likely never be a Mercedes purchaser again. Especially since they cannot stand behind their product. The cylinder head failed and caused my daughter to be placed in harm's way by beginning shaking while driving. This could have caused an accident and put others at risk. This problem has been confirmed by 3 different dealerships on 2 different vehicles( 2020 and 2021 Mercedes GLC 300). It has been inspected by the dealership that confirms it is leaking and needs to be replaced and confirmd it was not the negligence of the driver. There were no warning signs besides the check engine light coming on.

- #11647082March 7, 2025POWER TRAIN
I am writing to report a critical safety issue with my 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC300, VIN: [XXX] , which I purchased on [XXX], from Mercedes-Benz of Walnut Creek, CA, with 9,500 miles. On [XXX], while driving on [XXX], the vehicle suddenly lost power, the transmission downshifted to 2nd gear, and the accelerator became unresponsive. I was forced to drive at 20 mph for 20 minutes on a busy freeway, posing a severe risk of a rear-end collision. I managed to exit the freeway, but this incident could have resulted in a serious accident. This failure may be related to prior recalls of the 2024 GLC300, including issues with a defective 80-amp fuse (February 2024) and a loose 48-volt battery ground connection (March 2024), both of which can cause power loss. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this incident to determine if it warrants an expanded recall or further action to protect other drivers. I have notified Mercedes-Benz of Walnut Creek CA and Mercedes-Benz USA, demanding an investigation and a refund under the California Lemon Law. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide an update on any investigation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
