My 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 has been diagnosed with a valve seat failure. This requires a full cylinder head replacement. I purchased this vehicle brand new and have driven it with care, putting approximately 60,000 mostly highway miles on it. Throughout my ownership, I have exclusively used the service at an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. Despite my efforts to maintain this vehicle properly, the vehicle began exhibiting misfire issues just outside of the warranty period. The check engine light would flash on and off during a misfire and it presented multiple codes. I returned to a Mercedes-Benz dealership, where I was told the issue is an internal mechanical failure, worn or leaking valve seats requiring full cylinder head replacement with an estimated repair cost of $7,800. Upon researching this issue, I've learned that Technical Service Bulletins exist for this exact failure, and other owners with M264-series engines have experienced identical symptoms and failures. This misfire could happen at anytime, requiring me to stop the vehicle almost immediately. It could cause a dangerous situation in heavy traffic areas with fast moving traffic.

Vehicle has previous recalls done and still has the same issues with recall. Srs code no air bag will deploy. Dealer ship refused to service vehicle due to miscommunication and I'm driving a defective vehicle without an airbag which could lead to a bad accident waiting to happened. I will like to file a complaint against Mercedes of Richmond for refusing to service my vehicle without a defective air bag and the passenger seat bear latch doesn't retract properly. So I'm currently dealing with 2 huge safety hazard and was denied service due to a miscommunication with Steven Powers (service technician) at Mercedes of Richmond! I will like an investigation done.

On May 22, 2025, while parked, my 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 spontaneously caught fire, completely destroying the vehicle. Thankfully, no one was inside, and no injuries occurred, but the property damage was significant. I later discovered Recall 21V961000 / Campaign 2022030003 affecting some 2019 GLC300s for fuel leaks at the fuel rail/injector interface, which pose a serious fire hazard. Further research has shown reports of loose ground connections in these vehicles as well, increasing the risk of sparks igniting leaked fuel. Given that my vehicle caught fire spontaneously and matches the defect described in this recall, I firmly believe this incident was related to that defect. Mercedes-Benz has not provided adequate assistance. The vehicle was towed to a local dealership (Plaza Mercedes-Benz), but they refused to accept it, adding further confusion and hardship. I am submitting this report to request that NHTSA fully investigate this issue and work to ensure that Mercedes-Benz USA takes responsibility for this vehicle defect and compensates me for this dangerous failure. I am happy to provide photos, tow reports, or further documentation if needed. Thank you for your assistance in ensuring public safety.

I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction and serious concerns regarding both my 2024 and 2025 Mercedes-Benz vehicles, purchased/leased through your dealership. I am now facing an unacceptable situation that not only violates my consumer rights but has repeatedly placed my personal safety in jeopardy. After significant issues with my original 2024 vehicle, I was provided a replacement, which I took delivery of on October 15, 2024. Unfortunately, within two weeks, the replacement vehicle was already back in the shop for repairs. It has since required service again on December 24, December 31, and most recently, May 28, 2025. On one particularly alarming occasion, the vehicle shut off in the middle of the road, creating an extremely hazardous and life-threatening situation. I am driving a vehicle that cost over $60,000, yet it has proven consistently unreliable, unsafe, and unfit for normal operation. This experience has severely tarnished my perception of the Mercedes-Benz brand and has caused undue stress, inconvenience, and concern for my safety. Given the repeated repair attempts, persistent mechanical failures, and safety issues, I am requesting that Mercedes-Benz fully release me from this lease agreement without penalty or further financial obligation. Additionally, I am in the process of reviewing whether this situation meets the criteria under [Your State’s] Lemon Law, which typically applies when a vehicle undergoes multiple unsuccessful repair attempts for the same issue or is out of service for an extended period within the first 12-24 months of ownership. Based on the timeline and history of service visits, I believe my situation may qualify.

•Jan 2025, while the car owner was driving her GLC300, a warning light came on, the car shook and then shut down. AAA tow truck suggested Green’s Garage as an approved nearby repair shop. Car was towed there and repaired for approximately $450.00. •[XXX], late afternoon, the same problem arose but the car did not shut down. The car owner drove the car home and the car was dropped off at Green's Garage (GG) on the morning of May 27. Late that afternoon, GG called us to tell us the problem is not related to the January repair…Even though the symptoms were exactly the same as January with the exception of the car not shutting down. GG later stated the new problem is related to the spark plugs and that the cost to repair would be about $450.00. We agreed. •The next day (Wednesday) late in the afternoon GG called us to tell us that they found an additional problem. One of the fuel injectors was leaking. To fix the fuel injector plus the spark plugs would cost about $1,300.00. We agreed. •The car owner picked up the car late Thursday afternoon. Nothing was fixed, the engine warning light immediately came back on and the engine shook, so we have formally disputed the $1,300.00 credit card charge with our bank. [XXX] took the car on June 4 at 9:00 AM to Mercedes of Coral Gables for a pre-arranged $360.00 diagnosis. On June 5 we were informed that the engine and transmission mounts collapsed for a repair charge of $2,518.00. Also, the cylinder head valve seats are leaking and need replacing for a charge of $11,757.00. Total $14,275.00. Mercedes Benz should pay for this. Our car is a 2020 model with only 63,000 miles, but the problems started at less than 60,000 miles. We have read that this problem with this engine has existed since 2024 or earlier and that Mercedes Benz refuses to acknowledge the situation or pay for the repairs. It is dangerous to drive this car. Mercedes should be held responsible for all repairs and and accidents caused by this malfunction. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

No incident my vehicle has a front left malfunction service required light and issues with the passenger seatbelt not proper latching. Upon checking I notice my car had previous recalls done. It seems as if the same issues has come about. NHTSA: 18v177- seat belt not retracting properly. NHTSA: 17V627 is related to the steering column switch replacement of clock spring. So if me or a family member was to get into an accident no airbag will deploy! Huge safety hazard!

The vehicle's steering wheel vibrates noticibly between speeds of 47 mph and 55 mph. This issue was once addressed with a "software update" by Mercedes Benz of Portsmouth, NH. Streering wheel vibration is a concern for any driver that rely on power steering to turn or hold the car steady. In addition it creates unnecessary panic for some drivers. This issue is brought to Mercedes Benz multiple times. I had replaced all the tires at 19,000 miles, balanced, got tires aligned by Mercedes Benz dealer and the issue persists.

I have had numerous incidents since I purchased the vehicle in April of 2023. The first was when it would not start. It continuously ran through all of the error messages and simply refused to start. This happened numerous times, leaving me stranded for 20 minutes or longer. Then, the safety features would randomly stop functioning, and I would receive error messages stating that they were disabled. The check engine light would appear on the dashboard, and it continues to do so, even though I am told there is nothing wrong with the engine. My Mercedes will randomly turn on and tell me that they don't understand my question, even though I never asked it a question. There have been too many issues to list, but the final straw was yesterday. The hatch quit working about two months ago. It would shut but I would get a message saying it wasn't shut, and I would have to get out of the car and shut it manually. The part was ordered, but it did not arrive on the day of service, so I had to reschedule. It was replaced, but I was told that it won't shut correctly, and that I need to take it to a body shop for repair, which is not covered by my warranty. I have tried for years to have it lemon lawed, but I am continuously told it does not qualify. So, what qualifies. It was a brand new LUXURY, EXPENSIVE car, and I will never buy another Mercedes, and I have been telling my family and friends to avoid buying one, too!!

In September 2024 my vehicle's engine light came off and the car was struggling to accelerate, especially in highway. I took it to Mercedes Benz of Cincinnati and they acknowledged the fault, made some repairs (under warranty) but the mechanic told us he had already seen quite a few of these cars needing the engine to be replaced. The problem keep coming back and took in in May 2025 (4 months after warranty expired) with the same exact issue. Now they said it is a cylinder head that needs replacement and that it will cost me $10K. This problem has now been reported by several drivers for this model car within less than 5 years of being made. In Canada, the same type of engine has seen same problem so Mercedes extended the warranty for 15 years on the cylinder heads. They need to do the same for the GLC engines and cover our repairs.

Entire front right headlight assembly and module failed with no headlight, turn signal, park light etc. There is no visible external damage to the assembly although there is some moisture inside assembly. From internet search, it appears that this is a very common failure. Cost is over $2500 for replacement from local mechanics and over $3300 from Mercedes dealerships with little to no warranty for future failures either.

Our 2021 Mercedes is 4 years old and had the engine light come on. The vehicle has always been maintenance by Mercedes and well taken care of. The engine had a Cylinder Head Failure which resulted in a $7600 repair for a 4 year old vehicle. Mercedes refused to offer a good will repair. This is A major issue reported in 2015–2016 M274 engine which can lead to catastrophic engine failure 1. These failures often result in loss of power, strange engine noises, and in severe cases, engine seizure. The damage can extend to the cylinder head, especially if broken piston fragments impact the combustion chamber. This is a major risk for all owners of 4 cylinder Mercedes. Mercedes of Canada has already issued an extended warranty but owners of US Mercedes vehicles are left on the hook for the bill and risking their lives while this is a known issue.

I seen a recall for certain 2021 GLC 300 vehicles for moisture in right side headlamp, causing headlamp to blow (go out). This happened on my 2021 GLC 300. Same moisture issue, same year, same model, however, my vin number does not show that it has a recall. I believe this safety issue needs to be expanded to include my vehicle. Same issue, same year, same make and same model
