The Valve body control failed. I took the car into the dealership but upon doing some searching this seems to be a common issue amongst owners of this vehicle/make model. The transmission won't go beyond 5th gear (of 9) so it's is dangerous to drive on the interstate. The car doesn't shift into drive, only shifts into N, the reverts automatically to park. It required the engine shutting on/off multiple times and only then does it go into 3rd gear, causing the vehicle to jump due to missing gears. This issue could leave an owner stranded at any time and cause injury due to the limitations of the gears. It was inspected and confirmed behavior by Mercedes in Durham NC. There were no warning lamps, there were no signs of the issue. The technician did plug it in and was able to read the fault codes but it didn't trigger a light. The appeared first about 45 days ago, and the vehicle was taken in to be looked at 7/21/25.

While driving on the highway I began to hear an unusual amount of wind noise inside the car. I thought the sound was coming from the sunroof, though it was completely closed. I pushed the button to confirm it was sealed, but the noise continued. Shortly after, I heard a loud cracking sound followed by a sudden pop. I looked in my rearview and saw something flying but didn’t immediately recognize what it was. I pulled over to inspect the situation and discovered that the entire exterior trim panel between the windshield and sunroof had detached. Another driver, who had been behind me, also pulled over after being struck by the debris. Thankfully, there were no bodily injuries, but this incident could have resulted in a serious accident. A large, fast-moving piece of trim flying off a vehicle at highway speeds presents a significant danger to other drivers, especially if they try to swerve to avoid it. I took my car to a Mercedes-Benz dealership for inspection and potential repair. I informed the service advisor that I had seen documentation of a recall involving the same issue, detachment of the sunroof panel on vehicles of the same make, model, and year as mine. However, I was told that my vehicle was not eligible for the recall based solely on its VIN and that Mercedes would not cover the cost of repairs. This is not a typical wear-and-tear issue. Structural components of a car should not randomly detach, especially on a vehicle that is only 5 years old and has been properly maintained. It is extremely concerning and, in my opinion, negligent for Mercedes-Benz to be aware of this defect and yet fail to extend the recall to all affected. The advisor acknowledged this issue was likely due to a problem with the adhesive used to secure the panel, something he said he had seen happen on other vehicles. Despite this, I was told I would be fully responsible for the repair costs. There were no warnings or signs this would this happen, the panel detached suddenly.

With approximately 57,500 miles, the car began idling roughly, misfiring and losing power. The dealership has diagnosed it with a cracked cylinder head which will require a replacement at a cost of $9,765.00. The dealership indicated this is a common issue with the M264 engine (rear wheel driver) in the GLC300 and the M260 engine (the front wheel drive version) has already had a service extension for 15 years/180,000 miles. This type of failure should not occur at this mileage or even significantly more.

Defect Summary: Since 2024, my 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 has had a persistent, abnormal engine noise consistent with the sound of a 4-cylinder diesel engine, despite being gasoline-powered. The noise occurs both while idling and in motion. On several occasions, the coolant warning light illuminated while the noise persisted. The defect has worsened over time, becoming louder and more frequent. Events & Safety Risks: The dealership repeatedly claimed “no problem found” because no warning lights appeared and no scanner codes were present, ignoring my time-stamped video evidence. At one point, I was advised to drive the vehicle from Morgan Hill, CA to the dealership while making the loud noise for diagnostics — an unsafe recommendation. When the coolant warning light appeared, the service department planned only to top off coolant. I insisted on a diagnostic, which revealed a coolant hose leak. Driving with a leak could cause overheating and sudden engine failure, creating a serious safety hazard for myself, my child, and other motorists. Repair History: Multiple visits to Mercedes-Benz of San Jose (2024–2025) for the same defect. Each time, the defect was dismissed or not resolved. No meaningful repairs were performed. The issue persists today. Evidence: Time-stamped video proof of defect, full service records, and documentation of correspondence with the dealership are available. Safety Concern: This unresolved defect creates a risk of sudden engine failure or overheating while driving, potentially causing loss of control or stranding occupants in unsafe conditions.

The car does not go into drive from reverse and will sometime automatically shift itself from a low drive gear (D1) into Neutral without warning. After this happens - the car also can't get back into D1. It takes about 20 seconds for the car to shift back into a Drive gear and it will jolt into D3 violently. This has been a scary experience on many occassions - especially at red lights when this happens and we can't get the car out of neutral for some time. This was diagnosed by mercedes dealership near us as a fawlty sensor in the transmission. It is extremely expensive to fix and is specific to mercedes meaning it has to be done by a MB dealership. We applied for good will for assistance but were denied. The car has been maintained very well - this is not a maintenance issue but a specific sensor failure of a mercedes sensor in the transmission. We are thankful no one was hurt - we had our 8 year old daughter in the car when stalling out several times at red lights and it's been a very scary situation.

- #11674358July 17, 2025BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
For the past 6 months, the monitor in my SUV wont come on when I turn on the truck. Even when I turn the vehicle off, remove the key and step out of the vehicle, it will still do it until like the I next day. Often, still, when I am putting my car in reverse, the camera does not work. Very often. This put the safety of me and my children at risk as this is not what I am accustomed to as far as safety is concerned. I took the car to Mercedes Benz dealership here in Augusta GA and showed multiple videos of the screen not coming on or not working when I had it in reverse, they were to charge me $6000 to get this fixed at no fault of my own. There were not prior warnings. But what was odd was when I typed in my VIN number into the Mercedes Benz website, the recalled appear. When I called Mercedes Benz, it was stated that my vehicle was not apart of the recall with the same exact problem.

FIRE! NHTSA Vehicle Safety Complaint – Mercedes-Benz GLC300 Complainant Information: [XXX] [XXX] Phone: [XXX] Email: [XXX] Vehicle Information: 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4MATIC VIN: [XXX] Purchase Location: Missouri Incident Location: St. Louis, MO Date of Incident: [XXX] Date of Report Submission: July 12, 2025 Summary of Incident: On [XXX] , my 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4MATIC spontaneously caught fire while parked. I immediately contacted Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance, and the vehicle was towed for inspection. Mercedes-Benz later claimed the fire originated in the engine compartment, yet took no accountability and cited “missing components” as an excuse to avoid liability. Photographic evidence shows that the parts were present immediately after the fire. Mercedes-Benz denied that NHTSA Recall 21V961000 applied to this vehicle, despite clear similarity in symptoms (fire risk due to fuel or electrical issues). I was also never notified of any fire risk. Furthermore, towing coordination failures led to my vehicle being sent to a third-party lot, incurring unauthorized fees. Safety Concern: The spontaneous combustion of this vehicle presents a serious public safety risk. I am concerned this issue may be more widespread and underreported. Mercedes-Benz’s failure to take accountability and deflecting blame could endanger other consumers. Desired Action: 1. Federal investigation into similar fire-related complaints involving 2019 GLC300s. 2. Reconsideration of eligibility under Recall 21V961000 or related campaigns. 3. Consumer safety alert or expanded recall if defect patterns are confirmed. - #11670954July 2, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
In July 2023, I entered into a lease agreement for a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC SUV (VIN: [XXX]). From the outset, the vehicle suffered from recurring mechanical failures. It required service visits on August 10, 2023; March 25, 2024; July 26, 2024; September 20, 2024; and October 7, 2024. The final incident on [XXX], involved a fuel pump failure that caused the vehicle to stall in traffic, placing me in a terrifying situation where another driver, enraged and armed, threatened me while I waited for a tow truck. Mercedes-Benz acknowledged the vehicle was inoperable and issued a replacement lease on October 15, 2024 VIN [XXX]. However, this second vehicle also proved defective. Within two weeks, it was back in the shop for service. Since then, it has required repairs on December 24, December 31, 2024, and again on May 28, 2025, including another engine stall that posed a serious road safety threat. Despite my good faith efforts to resolve the matter, Mercedes-Benz, via their claims processor Sedgwick, is attempting to charge me $12,873.52 in negative equity, in addition to fees for Prepaid Maintenance and 4N1 Assurance Protection, as part of their settlement offer. These charges are both inappropriate and unlawful under the principles of lemon law and consumer protection. Request for Relief: •Immediate release from the lease agreement without penalty. •Refund of all payments made toward both defective vehicles. •Full waiver of any negative equity or ancillary product charges. •Any civil penalties deemed appropriate by your office against Mercedes-Benz USA and/or Sedgwick. I have already filed a complaint with the NHTSA (ID Number: 11665555) As I feel as though my safety is in imminent danger driving this vehicle. Two times while driving on highways the check engine light and the turtle light which indicates speed restriction went on. And vehicle slowed I continue to drive to the next available exit. I turned off the car for a short time when I turned it back on the speed restriction was off but the check engine light was still on after the car had been driven home or to a destination and had been off for a while half an hour in one case several hours in the other the check engine light was no longer on. The dealer did not find a solution to the problem on my first visit. The car is now in the shop for my second visit I have about 8,000 miles on a new car.I view this as a significant safety issue because a sudden change in speed is never good on a highway and I have no idea if the brakes lights went on once the speed was reduced which would make it even more dangerous.
