I leased a 2024 Kia EV6 on 1/27/24. On 2/22/24, twenty-six days after leasing the vehicle and an odometer reading of 616 miles, while on Washington state highway 903 there was a pop sound, the car slowed, and stopped displaying a “Check electric vehicle system” error. Due to the pop sound, we pulled over and barely made it off to the side of the highway before losing forward momentum. If this happened on a crowded freeway, the vehicle could have been disabled in a traffic lane. After 39 days, the dealer's service department found that inverter was "burnt and charred showing evidence of a fire in the system" and that the fire "potentially damaged the rear drive unit".

Factory installed 12V battery died at about a year's ownership and about 22,000 miles, leaving me stranded in a remote area. I was fortunate to have a jump start pack to get home. I had the battery tested at an auto parts store and it failed. I replaced it with a lithium car battery with a built-in monitoring system that can be read from the phone. The car routinely runs the 12V battery down to about 50% while driving, then charges it up to 100%. This cycling behavior destroys 12V batteries. The monitor built-in to my lithium 12 V battery shows 26 complete charge/discharge cycles in the 2 months it's been installed. Cars should not fully discharge the 12V battery when being driven

Vehicle does not reliably handle the 12V battery well. Many times, I see it sitting at 12.8 VDC when driving the vehicle. On a ICE vehicle, the charging voltage is close to 14V when running/driving. On 3 separate occasions, when I tried to "start" the EV6, the 12V battery was too dead to allow the car to be started. Basically stranded. This can be life threatening if this occurs in frigid temps. Or a hazard to traffic if/when the car tells you to "pull over safely, immediately". OK, I can "block the box" because my car died??? Kia and Hyundai need to address this issue that's common to their recent "luxury" EVs. With all the high-tech these cars have, why can't it manage the charge-state of the 12V battery? Tesla vehicles do not have this issue (I believe). Tesla EVs do "lose" their 12V battery over time, but that is similar to the 12V battery that eventually dies in a regular ICE vehicle. This 3rd time that this occurred, I called 800-KIA and had the car towed. So far, "they cannot reproduce the problem".

Car was in garage and tried to start it. Would not start, although the dash lit up briefly and it showed the main EV battery was at 49%. Message then appeared on dash stating that 12 volt battery was discharged. Car then went completely dead electrically. No electrical power of any kind. Had car towed to KIA dealership and they have so far not been able to fix it. It is under warranty. There is a Kia recall, SC302, which seems to fit the problem with my car, but my specific VIN number is not on the recall list. The dealership ran diagnostics and said 12volt battery passed their tests. I suspect maybe a ICCU problem and that my car should be on the recall list, but is not.

While driving at night under raining conditions with the auto highbeam enable the Kia’s HUD will get so bright at times that will white out the drivers view making nearly impossible to see. Kia’s is refusing the fix the issue because they can’t replicated even with a video I provided and I even found another persons video on YouTube, as well as several owners on a forum complaining about it.

- #11580158March 29, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STRUCTURE:BODY
There are alot of electrical malfunctions including unnecessary and without warning emergency breaking that has injured me ( I temporarily have a rental car to recover from a right thoracic sprain, left hip contusion, and a right anterior chest contusion- I have medical documentation), the steering wheel jerking when no correction needed, the vehicle locking up on the tow truck driver, and a lot of different electrical malfunctions that seem to indicate a bigger problem. I have more evidence, but it would not let me submit more pictures.

After starting the vehicle and beginning to back out of a parking space, a loud pop was heard from the rear of the vehicle. Immediately, a "Check vehicle electrical system warning" appeared on the dashboard, followed by "Stop vehicle and check power supply". While attempting to drive to a safe location, a continuous warning began to sound along with a dashboard warning to stop immediately. The speed of the vehicle was limited which could have caused an accident when driving on public roads. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it is waiting for diagnosis. During the tow, the vehicle was unable to move under its own power. The symptoms appear to represent a failure of Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) (NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V200000). There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

- #11578775March 21, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
For about 6 weeks, after driving the car for more than 2 minutes, turning the car off and then coming back into the car within several hours (like when picking up kids from daycare, grocery shopping, going to restaurant, etc) results in no sound regardless of source, including ALL alert sounds for collision, blind spot, cross traffic, literally any and all sounds inside the car. Resetting the infotainment using the small reset button does not work. Unplugging and then replugging any fuses does not work. The only solution is after the car is turned off for several, typically 4 or more, hours. This is incredibly dangerous not just for the alerts, but because it renders Bluetooth calls impossible, resulting in having to use the phone manually while driving after trying to disconnect the Bluetooth connection. Others online have reported needing the amp replaced in order to solve the problem.

Heard a loud pop noise as I was driving. Check Electrical System warning immediately flashed on the dash and vehicle slowed down while I was driving. Moments later, vehicle entered "turtle mode" allowing for restricted speeds. Vehicle then flashed error message about 12V battery having low charge. Vehicle continued to reduce maximum speed until it came to a stop minutes later. No previous symptoms and all TSBs and recalls had been performed on the vehicle. Tow truck was necessary to get the vehicle to a dealer. Vehicle currently with the dealer awaiting assessment and diagnostics.

Issues with 12v battery dying with only 8,000 miles on vehicle. Knowing Kia requests an all day testing of the battery prior to replacing the 12v, I replaced it with a higher quality one. My car still did not start not long after that. Lots of folks online with similar issue and feels like Kia needs to do a recall with a known good fix. Blame put on 3rd party apps when it’s a design flaw.

8 days after purchase from dealer, new vehicle, it went into "zombie" mode. Electrical system for radio, climate, lights, etc. all worked but it wouldn't come out of park or neutral. The online app kept saying there were no mechanical problems even though it was "dead in the water" and couldn't be moved. Then the electronic parking brake engaged so it could not be towed. It had less than 400 miles, had been working fine in the prior 7 days. Stopped at Home Depot, when I came out it entered zombie mode, and it couldn't be moved or put into gear. Even though it was in neutral at times the electronic parking brake kept it from moving. I was told today it was a "front inverter" and Kia had to approve repairing it????

While driving my car on March 7th, 2024 around 2:30pm an error message popped up "Stop vehicle and check power supply" and speed of the car was noticeably limited. Thankfully I was able to pull to side of the road and called road side assistance as car was undrivable, the 12 volt battery was completely dead. When tow truck arrived, a jump park was required to put car into neutral in order to get onto tow truck. If this happened in a freeway this could be a risk if we are not able to stop at a safe location. Towing services was able to tow my car to the dealership about 15 minutes away, upon unloading vehicle onto lot, taking an Uber home as no loaners are available, asked the next day about getting car into diagnosis and was told that it would take 2 weeks to get in to be looked at, and now it sits until they are able to diagnose a known problem, even the sales manager at this dealership has had same issue on 3 different EV6's. He assured me they know what to look for when it comes to the issue. After doing some research this issue, it is a well known issue with Hyundai/Kia cars and it looks like the ICCU module needs to be replaced. And Hyundai/Kia EVs and was supposedly addressed in a recall done in late September of last year, yet I have gone back and made a complaint with Kia regarding this issue, but in their eyes it was fixed in the recall. This new issue now goes under same case number associated with the charging interrupted error, where charging stops after 10 mins, took to dealership had the update done and still same issue. Continued to have problems charging on level 2 charger, even at a lowered amps. Lowering the amount that is recommended by the manufacturer and still having the same issue. Thank You.

While driving at normal road speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost all electronics (infotainment, air conditioning, dash). After 2-3 minutes these systems came back online but the car continued to have a warning light for the Lane Keeping system not functioning. This warning now comes on periodically after this incident

When driving at 35 mph on level ground, a loud "pop" was heard and the vehicle immediately lost power and warning messages having to do with the 12V system appeared on the instrument panel warning that the car needed to be pulled over in a safe spot and turned off. The vehicle was transported to a local KIA dealer via flatbed and has now been at the dealer for more than 30 day. So far, the 12V battery, the ICCU, the inverter and ICCU fuse have been replaced.

While driving my car on [XXX] around [XXX] an error message popped up "Stop vehicle and check power supply" and speed of the car started to decline. I could not drive more than 20mph on a main street that had a speed limit of 35 mph. Thankfully I was able to park at a Ralphs in a safe place before the car died. The 12 Volt battery died. If this happened in a freeway this could be a risk if we are not able to stop at a safe location. Towing services was able to tow my car home but I had to keep a portable jumper connected to the car so I can move the car on the flatbed since I couldn't put the car in Neutral for towing. I replaced the 12 Volt battery the next day, but the issue persists and the next available appointment is on April 1st. Upon researching this issue, it is a well known issue with Hyundai/Kia cars and it looks like the ICCU module needs to be replaced. Please look into this issue.
