While driving at normal speeds the engine and everything turns off without any warning. This makes it difficult to get off the road or highway due to loss of power to steering. This happens randomly but with increasing frequency. The vehicle has been at the Jeep dealership since 12 June 2025 and I'm being told they cannot figure it out. Allegedly the dealership service center is contacting Jeep after I had to tell them to do so. Vehicle is at Crown Dodge, 6300 King Rd, Ventura, CA 93033 805-977-6526.

Monday 4/28, as i was driving at approx. 35-38 mph the vehicle came to an abrupt and hard stop, like someone just pounded on the brakes, the engine ceased running. A large red wrench looking icon and something about the battery flashed very quickly on the screen. After a matter of time (please note this was very frightening,, and am unsure of the elapsed time) the car restarted and I continued very slowly to a corner where I could pull off the road and contact the dealership. At the rate of speed I was traveling I was forcefully slammed into the steering wheel, there were cars behind me and in the adjacent lane. My dog in the rear compartment and in her kennel was also forcefully thrown. This vehicle has had on going battery issues and many others as well. This is not the first report I have filed. Vehicle has been at the dealership for one week, I had to insist upon a loaner which they could not provide. Jeep has a program for a comparable vehicle which they set up and which has not provided a comparable auto. I have had no word from the dealership as to repair and issue found. The ongoing safety issues with this vehicle and it's battery system are totoally unacceptable for me. The jeep has spent 3.5 months from 10/14-mid 01/15 parked due to fire or explosion possibility. It has been in the shop repeatedly for up to two weeks at a time with heating and cooling issues. This latest is just another in a long stream of problems unaddressed proprerly by the Jeep corporation. As the vehicle is still in the shop at the dealership I have no items to download at this time.

I was changing my right rear tire due to a nail on a slight slope in my driveway and I had a roll away incident. The top of my driveway is a slight slope and then changes to fairly steep. My vehicle rolled off of my jack and jack stand and continued into the street. Fortunately there was no damage other than extreme stress

I am filing this complaint because Jeep/Chrysler has denied my reimbursement request for a repair directly related to Recall 94B, issued in November 2024, covering the ABS module on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Prior to the recall, in October 2024, I experienced failure of the ABS module and paid out-of-pocket to have the part repaired at a reputable independent repair shop. After the recall was issued, I submitted a reimbursement request with all supporting documentation, including the repair invoice and receipt, showing that the repair addressed the exact defect covered by the recall. Despite this, Jeep/Chrysler has refused reimbursement solely on the grounds that the repair was not performed at an authorized Jeep dealership. I believe this violates federal law under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. § 30120) and the related regulation (49 CFR § 573.13), which require manufacturers to reimburse owners for pre-notification repairs addressing the defect, regardless of where the repairs were performed, as long as proper documentation is provided. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring Jeep/Chrysler complies with its federal reimbursement obligations and processes my valid claim. I am prepared to provide all related invoices, receipts, and correspondence upon request.

There is a Customer satisfaction report P01 for timing chain and timing chain guides for 2009-2012 vehicles equipped with the 5.7L Hemi. My vehicle is now undrivable because of this issue and caused piston and valve damage. Because of my VIN not being listed for this recall I am now facing a $9500 engine replacement due to this issue.

- #11658160May 1, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle’s ECM or TIPM system appears to be malfunctioning, causing intermittent no-start conditions. The engine fails to turn over even though the starter clicks, and all electrical systems are functional. The issue is temporarily resolved by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, suggesting a logic fault in the ECM or TIPM. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle fails to start without warning, potentially leaving occupants stranded without transportation. This can be dangerous in remote areas, severe weather, or emergency situations. A failure like this undermines confidence in the vehicle’s reliability and safe operation. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The issue has been observed and temporarily resolved by resetting the battery. Research shows this is a known issue in similar Jeep models, referenced in TSB 08-007-14. The symptoms align exactly, but Jeep denies coverage because the VIN is not in the affected range. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet inspected by the manufacturer or third parties, though Chrysler/Jeep was contacted. They acknowledged similar issues exist but declined to assist based on VIN exclusion. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The engine wouldn’t crank, and diagnostic code P0113 (Intake Air Temp Sensor Circuit High Input) appeared. The vehicle was stationary when the issue occurred and has had prior history of similar electrical faults.

My vehicle currently has only 23,493 miles on it. During the last 6 years it has intermittently refused to shift out of the lowest gear when I started to drive off. I then have to come to a complete stop, shift out of gear and back into gear in order to drive off. This has probably happened about 10 or 12 times in the last 6 years. I cannot make this situation repeat. It happens only on its own. It is very scary when I am on a highway with other vehicles coming up behind me and I cannot accelerate and I have to quickly find somewhere to pull over and stop. Please help me and my family. I have an appointment in June with a Jeep dealer (earliest available for a transmission problem) to have it looked at. I have never seen any error codes displayed and therefore have no clue what the cause is.

- #11658237May 1, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Since purchase the vehicle has had a number of electrical issues. From non functioning automatic mirrors, and memory seating, to blacking out infotainment systems to the bigger recalls. Jeep issued a recall notice early October of 2024 for the High Voltage (hybrid) battery. The recall advised customers not to charge the vehicle due to risk of fire. The hybrid feature was the main reason for purchasing this specific vehicle. With my wifes daily commute well withing the batteries capacity we were filling up at the gas station about once a month. Now being unable to charge the vehicle we were filling up more than weekly. This obviously increased the cost of ownership quite a bit. This also greatly decreased the performance of the vehicle as the electric motors provided significantly more power to the underpowered 4 cylinder gas engine. At some point I debated charging the vehicle anyway but being that my home charging area is directly below my [XXX] sons bedroom I ultimately decided against it. Brought the vehicle to the dealer in November of 24 and they refused it as no repair had been released. I tried to stay on top of things, following multiple web forums to have the most up to date information. When I knew that the fix was to be released in the first week of the new year I attempted to get ahead of it and make a service appointment. The dealer would not allow this even though I knew the fix would be available. By the time the “fix” was formally release and I was able to call to make an appointment they were nearly 2 months out from their first available date. After Jeep "fixed" the recall we have been getting intermitent "service hybrid electric vehcle system" warnings on the dash board as well as random losses in power to the engine and or motor. Brought back to dealer where they acknowledged software issue but had no fix available. They determined it was "safe" to dirve and had me take it back. The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the driver's side and the passenger’s side front seat belts were no longer retracting. The contact stated that the seat belts often got caught in the door while exiting the vehicle. The contact had been working with a dealer for two years to have the seat belts replaced. The contact stated that the dealer had finally replaced the driver’s and passenger’s side front seat belts. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V716000 (Seat Belts), and the contact was informed by the manufacturer and the dealer that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

I have had to fix several issues since purchasing the vehicle. Most recently the oil filter house and the radiator. I am now having issues with the gas sensor. From what was explained to me, the sensor is not registering the amount of fuel in the tank and therefore believes there is low gas in the car. The check engine light turns off and on and the car begins to shake uncontrollably and it almost feels like it will shut off.

The drivers headrest spontaneously exploded while we were driving and hit the driver in the back of the head and created a loud gunshot noise that startled us. When we stopped to inspect the headrest, the plastic clips that held it in place had snapped. We were not in a collision, nor did we hit any significant bumps. His head was not even touching the headrest when it occurred.

While idling (vehicle running in electric mode) in park, for approximately 10 minutes we attempted to put the car in drive. The vehicle acted as if it needed to be turned on, displaying the message "Press Brake and Push Button to Start" while also displaying a red battery light. Different warning messages came up showing Traffic Sign Assist Unavailable and others. We could not turn the vehicle off even with holding down the start/stop button, were unable to shift the vehicle either. Finally after ten minutes of pressing the start/stop button the vehicle finally shut off and we were able to restart it with no issues. The next week as I was driving, I would randomly get a warning light with a red wrench and a message that said Service Hybrid System. Both instances have happen two additional times. The vehicle is now sitting at the dealership and they are unable to diagnose the problem. This all has occurred after the 95B recall work was completed. This is a safety issue as the vehicle will not shut off and won't shift. So if the vehicle is parked inside of a garage and idles and then doesn't shut off that will lead to carbon monoxide leaking into the houses. Or being stranded somewhere unable to move your vehicle.
