The contact owns a 2026 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the contact became aware that the fuel economy was poor and failed to meet the standard. The contact stated that while tracking the fuel consumption, the contact discovered that the vehicle's fuel economy was 26 MPG instead of 36 MPG. The defect was brought to the attention of the dealer, and the vehicle was test driven; however, the dealer stated that the vehicle was performing as designed and that there were no issues found with the fuel consumption. The contact was informed that the issue might be related to the way the vehicle was driven, and the contact disputed the claim. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 500.

I have diligently maintained the vehicle with all scheduled services performed at the Rick Case Hyundai dealership. My maintenance records show a documented history of proper oil changes and other essential services. These records confirm that the vehicle was regularly serviced according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The diagnostic report from the dealership indicates bad piston and heat marks, but there is no evidence to suggest this was caused by a lack of proper maintenance.

I am submitting this complaint due to a potential safety-related engine failure that occurred while my vehicle was under dealership repair. My vehicle was dropped off at Huffines Hyundai on October 2, 2025, for a fuel injector issue and has remained under the dealership’s exclusive possession since that date. I have not driven or had access to the vehicle after drop-off. During the repair process, I was informed by dealership staff that an injector was seized in the fuel rail and difficult to remove. Although the injector replacement was documented as a short repair, the work was delayed and completed on October 16, 2025. Immediately following this repair, on October 17, 2025, the engine was documented by the dealership as having low compression. I was not notified of this condition until October 27, 2025. The engine damage occurred while the vehicle was under dealership control and immediately following a repair involving seized components. The diagnostic documentation provided to me is incomplete and does not include compression PSI values or supporting data. I am concerned that improper repair or handling may have caused internal engine damage, resulting in a condition that could lead to engine failure or unsafe operation. Due to the circumstances and lack of transparency, I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate and am concerned about the risk of engine failure.

During normal winter operation with the heater in use, the center console area becomes excessively hot. I have measured surface temperatures exceeding approximately 130°F using an infrared thermometer. The affected area includes interior touch surfaces, cup holders, and a factory-installed wireless phone charging pad. The heat appears to originate from HVAC ducting routed through the center console to supply the rear seat vents. Closing the rear vents does not reduce the console temperature, indicating heat transfer through the ducting rather than airflow. The condition is most severe after a warm-soak cycle (driving to operating temperature, briefly parking, then driving again). When a phone is placed in the intended storage or wireless charging area, the device overheats and triggers thermal protection warnings. The console surfaces also become hot enough to present a potential burn risk with prolonged skin contact. These temperatures exceed recommended ambient conditions for consumer electronics and lithium-ion batteries in a normal-use interior storage and charging location. The issue was reported to a Hyundai dealership. The service department stated the heat was caused by the rear HVAC duct and considered the condition “normal.” No repair, insulation review, or corrective action was offered, and no specific temperature measurements were provided in writing. Hyundai Consumer Affairs directed me to return to the same service department, despite the concern remaining unresolved. This condition occurs during normal vehicle operation and represents a potential interior thermal safety concern.

- #11713390January 26, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER
While driving my speedometer became erratic, just one time. My cruise control is no longer working, my trip odometer is not working and possibly the odometer is not working properly. I googled for speedometer problems with 2011 Hyundai speedometers and found an article that may be false on Reuters "Hyundai Motor to recall nearly 84,000 US vehicles over instrument panel display failure, NHTSA says" I called Hyundai last week and the lady I spoke with said there was a service bulletin and said it would be repaired at no cost! She even set me up with an appointment at the local dealer. About 2 days later I received an email that said there was no tsb and that it was not covered under warranty. I cancelled the appointment and stopped at the Hyundai dealership. The man I spoke with seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and said it would be almost $200 to diagnose and that would be applied to the repair which would be $7-800. He also said there are 2 different switches and it coud be either switch. I know there's a lot of garbage on the internet but when I saw the article that said that "NHTSA says" and then was told by someone at Hyundai that there is a service bulletin, I believed it. I'm [XXX] old and my wife and I have had this vehicle since new. It's a good vehicle and most likely our last. However I am totally bewildered by this situation. Is there a recall/service bulletin that you are aware of or not? Thank you! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I have observed 6+ incidents when my instrument cluster went blank and rebooted in the middle of the road while the vehicle is moving. This seems to be widespread issue with no resolution from Hyundai what so ever. I have raised this issue with Hyundai as well.

I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I’ve had multiple incidents where the Forward Collision-Avoidance system applied sudden hard braking when it wasn’t necessary, creating dangerous situations. I don't think I will be fortunate every time. I believe there is a serious issue with how the Hyundai's FCA system is operating and it needs to be investigated as a priority. Currently I am driving with it turned off every time I start the car. On my research I found this issue has been reported by multiple other drivers as well and I don't see any acknowledgement or reference from Hyundai on this so far.

- #11713410January 26, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at various speeds, the imminent crash braking failed to function as intended. The first time that the failure occurred, the contact's wife was driving in the rain, and a beeping sound was coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle stopped independently. The vehicle returned to normal functionality after several minutes. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while his wife was driving in slow traffic, there was an abnormal beeping sound coming from the vehicle before the vehicle independently stopped. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality minutes later; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

2020 HYUNDAI Tucson Engine blown @ 89,307 miles and 1,265 miles after oil change due to missing oil plug. Daughter drives about 5 miles per day for college and groceries. The day before Thanksgiving 2025, her 2020 HYUNDAI Tucson died about 48 miles down the Highway without warning, no prior warning lights or sounds before shutting down. I had the car towed to the local HYUNDAI dealer in the town where her college is, where they told us the engine was totaled due to a lack of oil and a missing oil plug. I discussed with the HYUNDAI service advisor about having an extended warranty; however, they would not work with me or the company I had the extended warranty with, mentioning they would not cover the engine failure due to the oil plug being missing. I asked the service advisor in a separate conversation whether an oil pan drain plug that was not properly torqued during an oil change could remain in place for some time—particularly during short, low-speed driving—and then gradually work loose over additional miles. The service advisor mentioned that in situations like my daughter’s, where only about 1,265 miles were driven after the oil change (mostly short trips), it would be within reason for an improperly installed drain plug to stay in place until a longer highway drive with higher RPMs, at which point it could back out completely and result in a sudden oil loss and engine shutdown. The service advisor also mentioned that this is something they had seen before and is not unheard of on these vehicles.

MY engine check engine light and than a warning light came on saying not to drive it and i took it to be repaired at a shop and a hyndai dealer and they told me my engine needed to be replaced even though i always serviced my car. It has 103,000 miles on it. It is the same problem as the other person that reported this problem. The other models were recalled but not this one. Im sure by now you know there is a problem with this engine too. It should be replaced by the company!!

When getting onto the highway on November 30, 2025, the engine on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson made an odd sound, acceleration was compromised and the check engine light came on. My husband was driving and he safely navigated us off the highway and back to our home via city streets. We were very concerned we were going to break down on the highway or city street during a cold time of year. The next day we had the vehicle towed to a local auto service center and they diagnosed the problem as a failed fuel injector. They stated this was a known issue by Hyundai. The auto service center ordered the fuel injector kit to make the repair, but they were only allowed to repair the failed fuel injector, not all of them. I'm concerned another fuel injector will fail. If Hyundai knows about the fuel injector issue why haven't they issued a recall?

1. Component and Availability: The panoramic sunroof shattered spontaneously. The failed component was replaced by Myrtle Beach Hyundai, but I have documented the damage with photos, and the vehicle is available for inspection to show the remaining glass debris inside the structure and the damaged headliner. 2. Safety Risk: The sunroof shattered with a loud, gunshot-like noise while driving at 60 mph on a highway (I-95), causing extreme driver distraction and potential loss of vehicle control. Furthermore, a large amount of glass shards fell into the cabin and remains trapped inside the headliner. These hidden fragments continue to rattle, causing ongoing distraction and posing a risk of injury to occupants if they fall through the damaged interior fabric. 3. Confirmation by Dealer: Yes, the problem was confirmed by Myrtle Beach Hyundai. They replaced the sunroof under a "goodwill" gesture, although they initially claimed it was not a warranty issue. 4. Inspection by Others: The vehicle was inspected and repaired by the authorized Hyundai dealer (Myrtle Beach Hyundai). No police or insurance reports were filed as it was a spontaneous failure without a collision. 5. Warning Symptoms: There were no warning lamps, unusual noises, or any symptoms prior to the failure. The shattering occurred suddenly and without any external impact or provocation on January 12th.

- #11712981January 23, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I have had numerous issues with fuel Injectors failing. The first incident was about 30,000 miles. This was fixed by the manufacturer not even 10,000 miles later, I once again had to return the vehicle, to be inspected by the dealership. Instead of replacing all of the fuel injectors at the same time they chose to only replace one. As soon as my car went over the 80,000 mile warranty limit, my fuel injectors went out once more. My mechanic son, has also changed several as well. I had to tow it, 100 miles to the Hyundai dealership, as I live in a rural area. I was told by a young lady, at the dealership, that it was be covered under the engine warranty, which is 100,000 miles. They weren’t even able to look at the car for a week charged me $250 for a diagnosis… After a week 1/2 dealership finally told me it would be over $3000 to repair.. NO! I had to pay to tow it back. I’ve been without a vehicle for five months. When the fuel injectors went out, it also damaged the high-pressure fuel rail, the high pressure fuel pump, and various sensors. This is dangerous, I live in a very rural area. It stopped operating out of the blue. It chugged/bumped a few times, and it was dead. This is inconvenient, and It’s dangerous, especially during the winter time where temperatures reach -20 regularly and no cell phone signals. I believe Hyundai is well aware, of the problem. In fact the service manager had mentioned that the parts were on backorder because apparently they are in quite high demand. No fuel injector should be going out in 15,000 or 20,000 miles, causing systemic failure. Hundai has made no effort to redesign failed parts. It’s quite disheartening, to replace/repair with a new defective part. That is going to go bad, in just a few thousand miles!! Im retired, on a fixed income. I bought new, so I wouldn’t have issues. Paying new prices, to drive junk. I’d just drop it off @ dealers, and walk away.. But the loan, is so upside down that isn’t even possible.

- #11712915January 23, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Hard braking first occurred on a major highway with no prior notice that this would happen in close call accidents. The cars traffic had to veer away from me in order to avoid hitting me. Another highway (95) incident was a 18 wheel semi that had to move to the shoulder and could have easily totaled my car and me. I then researched this and found I could delay the action be setting the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist mode to "Late". This helped in giving notice for some time, however the hard braking occurred again on a regular two lane small highway as I switched lanes, saw a car stopping suddenly and the brakes locked up. (This is the latest incident as dated below). There was no "Late" warning, the brakes just locked up. Being in fear of my and my families life I did further research and found that I could disable "brake assist" and only get warnings - which is what should be the default - BUT, this must be done each time I start the car. If my wife drives and forgets to do this each time I now fear for her life!!! This is not a simple matter. It is unconscionable and horrible this type of control over basic transportation is allowed to exist. This must be addressed and corrected! I'm all in on helping make meaningful change to this issue.

- #11712796January 22, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STEERING
On three occasions while the vehicle was idling, the dashboard screens and interior lights went completely black, and the steering wheel jerked abruptly in my hands. This sudden electrical failure creates a serious safety concern, particularly if it were to occur while driving at higher speeds. The dealer has not been able to reproduce the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. There were no warning lamps after the problem occurred. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by a Hyundai dealership. On one occasion, the dealership retained the vehicle for approximately two months but reported no definitive findings despite error codes being present. On a later visit following another failure, no error codes were recorded. The dealership replaced the head/stereo unit and confirmed no active recalls, yet the issue continues. This problem first occurred while the vehicle was covered under an extended warranty, but due to its intermittent nature, it was not resolved before the warranty mileage threshold was exceeded. I have since found numerous similar complaints online from owners of the same model year describing electrical blackouts and steering-related concerns. A Hyundai service manager advised me to dispose of the vehicle, which further reinforces my concern that the defect may be known but unresolved. I believe this issue represents a potential safety defect and warrants documentation and review. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Horn inoperative. Vehicle sets diagnostic trouble code C2A23 indicating horn switch / clock spring failure. Multiple owners report similar failures. Horn is a safety device and failure may prevent warning other drivers. This include the airbag that might be affected since the clock spring is having an issue.

- #11712794January 22, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I was driving on the highway with no one in front of me. The car suddenly slammed on the brakes and flashed "emergency breaking system" on my dash. My car went from about 75 mpg down to 50. The car behind me almost rear-ended me. He then proceeded to pass me and brake check me because he thought I had deliberately brake checked him. This incident caused the man behind me to get road rage and react dangerously to me. I hit the gas and it finally stopped breaking and let me gain speed up again. It was terrifying. This is not the first time this has happened but it was the first time in the highway. It has happened several times on side roads for no reason either. I have an appointment with Hyundai to figure out what they can do because I don't feel safe driving this car.

The forward collision avoidance engaged when it was unnecessary and nearly caused me to be rear ended. It doesn't slow you down, it brings your vehicle to a complete stop and leaves you stuck unable to move for a few seconds... just long enough for the person behind you to read end you. This is incredibly dangerous. I would speculate that this feature will result in many rear end wrecks and should be addressed expediently or Hyundai may risk a significant class action lawsuit.
