I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Kona electric from dealership. They said they had to change the electric battery before selling it to us and now the emergency light went on the dash we brought it back to the dealership and they said the battery the installed is not safe and will take 6 months to get a new one and are not giving us a car to drive.

The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Kona. The contact stated that on several occasion while driving at various speeds or coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled and lost motive power. The vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be serviced under TSB 22-01-043H (Engine Monitoring Logic) and the mechanic was made aware of the failure; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure was recurring and that the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated without any vehicles nearby. The contact stated that the vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the camshaft sensor and exhaust sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a second independent mechanic, who confirmed the diagnosis. The vehicle was then taken to Big Star Hyundai (18100 Gulf Fwy a, Friendswood, TX 77546), where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

- #11518022April 20, 2023VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The cruise control on this 2023 Kona has not worked since the day I purchased it. When the cruise control is engaged it will suddenly decelerate, but the cruise still appears engaged. It sometimes then suddenly reaccelerates. This causes traffic to suddenly back up behind me, and also to be in danger in front of me when it reaccelerates rapidly. I informed the dealer immediately of the issue. They advised there was a 2022 in their shop for the exact same issue at 8,000 miles. They asked me to bring mine in, which I have done now three times. That shop now has 4 Konas with the exact same issue, yet they do not have a fix. The Hyundai forum boards are full of this same complaint. I have contacted Hyundai Corporate. They also don’t have a solution, but won’t take back my new vehicle. I have less than 1,000 miles on this Kona - most of that from driving one hour to/from the dealer 3 times. I have been understanding and professional in my dealings with them however, I have run out of patience. I did not get what I paid for and am being asked to put myself/my family in danger driving this vehicle back and forth to this dealer who doesn’t even have a fix.

- #11516487April 11, 2023TIRES
Pirelli P Zero 235 / 40 R19 96Y Purchased a 2022 Hyundai Kona N on 7/23/22. At 8ooo miles all 4 tires are cracking on side wall and tread area. Hyundai said those tires are not to be driven on if the outside temperature is 40 degrees or lower. We currently live in Joplin Missouri. When we purchased the vehicle we were not informed about the situation with the tires and temperature. The warranty on the Hyundai website stated the tires should last for 30,000 miles. All 4 tires need to be replaced, if we knew about this issue we would have made arrangements, prior to the purchase, to have different tires placed on the vehicle. We feel that we have been taken advantage of due to the lack of information on Hyundai’s part. On 4/7/23 I contacted Hyundai and was told to take the vehicle to a Hyundai dealer and have the tires inspected. On 4/10/23 we took the vehicle to the Hyundai dealer and they inspected the tires and recommended that they be replaced and they would send a complaint to Hyundai. The service manager at Fletcher Hyundai, Zeb Nageotte 417-434-1601, said he has never seen anything like that before in that little time.

The car used extremely amounts of oil yet showed no signs of a leak and the car would shut off randomly while driving. Took it to the first dealership and they refused to acknowledge any problem while we had it towed into them. They had it for 2 months and we showed them problems noted about faulty piston rings in these cars. They made us take the car back and we continued to drive it with the extremely dangerous issue of shut downs with the car and still heavy oil usage. We took it to an independent mechanic who stated scored cylinders due to oil problems from bad rings then towed it to a different dealership that also stated same and recommended engine replacement. Hyundai is refusing the dealer’s recommendations even though these cars are noted as having these problems and yes each time the engine light comes on. Extremely dangerous to continue to drive this car. Car is still at San Tan Hyundai in Gilbert Az for second week waiting for approval of necessary recall repair have also contacted Hyundai corporate and they deny any problems with this car. We first took this car into dealer 2021 now we have it back with continuous problems

I took my car to the dealership to have the campaign 200 recall fixed. When my vehicle was there, they found that the battery needed to be replaced, however found that there was "front end damage to the battery" and it would fall on me as the owner to replace the battery, and once the battery was replaced, they would fix the recall. (Which replacing the battery would fix in the first place). My issue is, there is no alert on my dashboard or on the app that shows that there are zero diagnostic trouble codes. My concern is that if the battery has such significant damage, there should be some type of alert or warning with this occurring. Also the fact that there is a recall that requires a battery replacement and suddenly damage is noticed on the battery. Unfortunately, it seems that Hyundai is not willing to honor their warranty and "found" a way to blame me as the owner.

In damp weather the brake rotors corrode overnight. This causes the brakes to lock up when the brake pedal is touched gently. The car then stops quickly and unexpectedly. This could result in the car being rear ended in traffic. This problem has occurred 7 times since I bought the car.

When you press on the gas, many times there is a very delayed reaction for power. This resulted in my safety put at risk. I have mentioned this to mechanic, they say it is the transmission. I see where there was a recall for 'automatic transmission that may disengage when the car is being driven'. This is NHTSA campaign number 22V746000. and Hyundai's number for this recall is 236. I would like to know if my car should be included in the 236.

Oil change was on 1/13/2023 at 33,505 miles. On 2/25/2023 at 35,366 miles after driving on the highway for about 30 mins at 65 mph, the oil light came on and car was making a loud noise as I pulled in to park. My car was parked for about 1.5hrs at my destination. I attempted to drive home and get back on the highway when my engine stalled at about 40 mph and my engine and battery light came on. I had to pull over to the shoulder as my car would not drive anymore. My car was then towed to my house and later to the hyundai dealer where they determined that my engine stalled due to lack of oil because my drain plug was missing. Hyundai refuses to fix this under warranty because the drain plug is missing and they are insisting this is because of the oil change place I went to nearly 2 months ago. When I went to the oil change place, they insist that they didn't do anything wrong, and if they did incorrectly put the drain plug on, my oil would've leaked much sooner than it did. There is currently and investigation with NHTSA with my exact issue where the oil drain plug still falls out, even if the person performing the oil change puts the drain plug on exactly how it should be. Directly from the NHTSA site: "Apparently, the thin metal, along with engine vibrations and expansion/contraction tend to loosen the drain plug without any other intervention. NHTSA is investigating this as a factory defect issue." My safety was deeply put at risk as I was driving on the highway when this happened and I could've easily gotten into an accident and faced injuries. I'm stuck in the middle as the oil change place denies it is their fault and hyundai refuses to fix under warranty strictly because the oil drain plug is missing. When I explained to them that I would've have this issue with my engine if the drain plug was present, they agreed. They are stating that it is $10,000 to repair my car and that I have to pay upfront and cannot do multiple payments

Had to have car towed to dealership transmission would not operate at all.

While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly shifts to a lower gear, slowing it down violently enough to knock items out of the cupholder. It then displays an warning light and refuses to accelerate. The only way to fix the problem is to turn over and shut down the car to reset everything.

The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Kona. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the oil and battery warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle would not accelerate as needed. The contact pulled over on the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted but the vehicle would not accelerate as needed. The contact became aware that there was no oil in the engine. Additionally, there was oil leaking underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that due to the oil leak the engine seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the warranty had expired. The failure mileage was 35,300.
