Steering has become intermittently "sticky". When it happens, if I try to turn the steering wheel a very short distance it will resist until I put enough force to move it about twice as far as intended. Although the greater steering angle achieved has not been sufficient to take me out of my lane, it could do so. When steering is working normally, I easily turn the steering wheel to any angle without resistence. No warnings have been displayed.

- #11739957May 25, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving on the freeway on Saturday 5/23/26 when a helium balloon flew into my lane. The vehicle suddenly applied maximum braking on its own without any dashboard warning, alert sound, or driver notification. It was so severe the tires were screeching. The accelerator was unresponsive for several seconds before I was able to accelerate again. This created a dangerous situation because I could have been rear-ended by another car.

The steering wheel is slightly sticking while driving/steering on interstates and highways where mostly noticed, but also noticing on curved backroads. When navigating a curve the steering wheel has slightly stuck and the automatic brake light flashes on very briefly. This has happened several times now and both main drivers of the car have noticed the issue. We are reporting now out of fear that it may become a bigger issue if not addressed, that affects both steering and braking that puts occupants at risk. We are reporting this as of today, which is the most recent incident on May 25, 2026, but this has happens about 4 or 5 times in the last month. We checked to see if this was a known recall issue, but the recall only applies to 2023 - 2025 CRVs for some reason. This sounds like the exact issue/recall that our 2021 crv is having. Thank you!

Honda 2022 CR-V - Rear Differential (RD) locking up, jerking, slipping, not moving smoothly. When backing up and turning the RD has been jerking and slipping for more than 2 years. I had the vehicle in the shop 2+ years ago and explained the problem and they claimed they could not find a problem and gave the car back to me. Now it's back in the shop again as the problem is worse. The powertrain is still under warranty so I assumed they would cover it, however they said it's my fault so they won't cover it. Honda dealer wants $4000 to fix. So next i contacted American Honda and explained it to them. After a week of waiting they came back and said we will give you a discount to $2500. My response it this should be under warranty. They will not admit they had defective Rear Differentials as I saw NHTSA had an open inquiry of these RDs. NHTSA Action Number: PE22011. Now I am waiting to get my CR-V back and pay the hefty bill even though this is clearly a Honda defect. Can you help me get a Recall opened to American Honda to fix these Rear Differentials? The Honda company and the Luther dealer have not been honest and they need to be held accountable.

My 2022 Honda CRV is experiencing a "STICKY or CATCHING" steering wheel under normal driving conditions. The vehicle will not self-correct to the center unless some manual effort is attempted. (Especially when re-centering from a left-hand curve). The issue has become increasingly more pronounced over time. It became apparent that this was a design flaw once I began to investigate the problem online. Apparently, Honda has issued a recall for the problem in the 2023-2024 model years. (Over 1.7 million vehicles) However, I am experiencing the exact symptoms in my 2022 CRV. I greatly fear in driving the vehicle, we may attempt to OVER-CORRECT the steering and cause a potential accident or worse. I am reaching out to my local Honda dealership this week to seek advice. I wanted to register my concern with the NHTSA first. Thank you for your consideration of my serious concern.

Notice the steering seems to be sticking on slight movement of the steering wheel. Later noticed clicking notice associated with the sticking. When making turning the sticking and notice seem to get louder. Steering wheel feels like something is loose.

Always driving east my cruise control, lane keeping assist and other safety systems stop working. Cars behind me are not aware of my sudden slow down. The alert said to clean the plastic H in the grill. I have been to two Honda dealers and the problem persists. Honda corporate in California calls it radar blindness. Aware of problem but no fix. I feel it is sun reflection off of the plastic H in the grill as it’s always clean and only happens when I drive east bound. I didn’t realize I was buying a problem when I bought my CRV. Please help

We brought the car to the dealer yesterday (where we bought it in Jan 2021), to have the air conditioning fixed. They told us they found rust on the frame and that it would not pass inspection again. It had been inspected there in February, 2026. At that time, we told them about a vibration and they said it was ice build up. But yesterday, they told us the linkage in the driveshaft needs to be replaced. So there are two safety issues: frame rust on an 8 year old vehicle and a faulty driveshaft.

While driving home during rush hour traffic on the highway with my children in the vehicle, without warning it stopped accelerating when I passed the gas pedal and started slowing down. When I let go of the gas pedal it would speed back up. I couldn't safely merge over to the right with heavy traffic and ended up on the left shoulder. I turned the vehicle off and tried to restart it, it struggled to start, but when I let go of the key it would turn over. The brake system lights and check engine light were illuminated after the incident, but not during. The code was for p0087 and honda service confirmed it's a failed high pressure fuel pump, but it's not under the recall so the repair isn't covered. I'm extremely lucky to have gotten to the side of the road without causing an accident. I was not driving my normal route that day, but if i had been this would have happened on a stretch of the highway that's under construction where there was no shoulder to pull onto. So if I'd have gone a different way home that day, we'd have most certainly been involved in a collision. They've anyway Texans the low pressure fuel pump but these high pressure ones are just as dangerous when they fail, even more so!

am filing a complaint regarding my Honda vehicle being inoperable for over 2 months due to an airbag replacement part being on national backorder after the airbag was stolen. This is a critical safety component and I have been unable to safely use my vehicle during this time. Honda has acknowledged the part is unavailable and my case was marked “urgent,” however I have received very limited communication and no meaningful resolution timeline. I have also been told rental assistance is not being covered, leaving me without reliable transportation for months because a required safety part cannot be obtained. I am concerned about the length of time these safety-related components are unavailable and the impact this has on consumers who cannot safely operate their vehicles. I am requesting review of this issue and Honda’s handling of extended airbag-related part backorders

All warning lamps have been coming on at random times. The dealerships have always said there is no problem. Now, outside of warranty, I am reading that it's possible that the problem is that all of the fuel injectors need to be replaced. Online notes that this is a widespread issue with this particular vehicle. I was informed that I can disconnect the battery and it resets the system and warning lamps - sometimes for hours, sometimes for days/weeks.

Experiencing steering wheel binding at highway speeds - Steering Gearbox on my leased car, 2018 CRV was issued a Safety Recall by the NHTSA on September 28, 2018. I leased my car in July of 2018, but never received a safety recall from Honda. Document [XXX] . The issue is described as "Sticky Steering". I've contacted 2 Honda service locations, and they can't find any recall information for my 2018 vehicle. There are newer more recent models/years that do have this recall, but none for mine. However, the NHTSA issued one that nobody can find. I found it, but apparently it doesn't exist and I'm not finding anyone at the Honda service centers that are helpful. While driving at various speeds, the steering wheel exhibits a noticeable "sticky" sensation and momentary mechanical binding when making minor steering adjustments, specifically when turning between the 10 o'clock and 11 o'clock positions. This occurs with the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) completely turned off. The binding is a serious safety hazard because it requires a sudden increase in physical effort to "break free" the steering wheel, which can easily lead to over-correction or jagged lane departures at highway speeds. An authorized Honda dealership formally inspected the vehicle and confirmed an internal mechanical failure within the electronic power steering gearbox assembly, stating it requires a full replacement. The dealership noted that while this failure matches the physical symptoms of Honda's high-profile steering rack recalls on other model years (such as NHTSA Recall 24V-744), this 2019 model uses a different part number and is not currently covered. However, the dangerous mechanical behavior is identical, suggesting a broader engineering vulnerability with Honda EPS gearboxes that extends to the 5th-generation CR-V.
