- #11740776May 29, 2026LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
The issue involves the driver’s-side blind spot monitoring system. In my experience, the system does not recognize or alert me to vehicles approaching from behind in the adjacent lane until they are nearly even with the driver’s door. In many situations, the blind spot warning light does not illuminate while a vehicle is occupying what most drivers would reasonably consider the blind spot area. Instead, the alert often appears only after the vehicle is already alongside my vehicle. This creates a significant safety concern. The purpose of a blind spot monitoring system is to provide advance warning of vehicles approaching from behind before a lane change is initiated. When the system does not recognize a vehicle until it is already beside the driver’s door, the warning is delayed to the point that it provides limited practical value in helping prevent a collision. I have discussed this concern with Honda dealership personnel and have been advised that the system is operating as designed and that there is no repair, adjustment, or calibration available to improve its performance. While I appreciate their efforts, I find it concerning that a safety-related feature may be functioning exactly as intended while still failing to provide what I believe is adequate advance warning for drivers. As a driver, I would expect the system to provide earlier notification when another vehicle is occupying the adjacent lane and approaching from the rear.

The steering has a catch in it which makes for jerky driving. When driving to avoid drift and correct travel path the steering has a hard spot which makes it easy to over correct causing safety issues with nearby vehicles and driving on slick roads. I had heard that some crv’s had a recall for this issue but none shows up for this vehicle. This happens frequently when driving and has happened on many trips.

steering is sticky. when maintaining a straight line position on road, it takes effort to adjust the steering wheel to autocorrect the steering. when turning there's a clicking sound as it there isn't enough grease. this is an expensive repair as a honda dealership quoted 4,300 for a 2019 honda crv with 37k miles. just as a side note 2022-2023 models had a recall because of this steering issue

All brake systems warning lamps illuminated while driving on the highway, the vehicle was pulled off the road and shut off, brakes were visually inspected and all fluid levels were examined and everything was intact. Vehicle was driven again after a breif time and everything was fine. A few weeks later all warning lamps were displayed, the vehicle was brought to a Honda dealership the following morning and a cracked fuel pump was diagnosed and the technician believed that there was no coolant in the vehicle and that was filled. The technicians suggested a scope of the engine to rule out a leaking head gasket but I could not afford it and monitored my coolant levels, had a pressure test done at a trusted mechanic and everything was fine for approx 3 months. Absolutely no coolant was observed on my driveway, the coolant level remained optimal on visual inspection. The vehicle started to drive roughly and I suspected new spark plugs were needed, those were installed at the dealership. The issue was not resolved and I returned w/in 1 month and was told that 3/4 cylinders were blown in addition to the head gasket. The vehicle has 106k miles and has received all maintenance as described. The cost to repair is over $8,000. I believe this is a failure on Honda as this is a very well documented issue with this specific vehicle.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, however the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with low fuel pressure. The contact was advised to contact the dealer. In addition, the contact was informed of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

I have a 2018 Honda CRV with 52,000 miles. It has a steering problem. The vehicle has to be hot, or be driven for 1 plus hours for the problem to appear. In a few words the problem can be described as: intermittent steering binding sticky steering steering hesitation near center sudden release necessitating overcorrection in opposite direction safely hazard during highway driving I don't know specifically what the problem is but Chat GPT offers these comments: EPS gearbox, worm gear, steering torque sensor, or intermediate shaft malfunction. I have to assume that the problem that plagues my vehicle is related to the known CRV steering rack or EPS issues tied to the newer model recalls. I have not asked a Honda dealer to diagnosis the issue and provide an estimate for repair, but plan to shortly. Otherwise, this vehicle is in excellent condition, has had proper maintenance and care. I have called a local Honda dealer to inquire about a recall and was told there is no recall on this issue for my car year. There is however a recall for steering issues on 2023, 24, 25 year cars. Driver side door lock was broken. Car was broken into. Airbag (on steering wheel) was stolen. I am not sure if the alarm went off. Caused “Airbag System (SRS) Problem” warning light on the dash. Car was still drivable. This was during the pandemic so there was a parts shortage. Needed to replace lock, airbag, and clock spring. Took 2 weeks.

Systematic safety opponent failure - passenger side air bag. It deployed into my daughter's face. I took it to Hayward Honda for repair. No police, no insurance as of yet. The dealership is claiming that the impact occurred in the undercarriage, but no report, no pictures, no EDR data provided. This was simply a spontaneous, non-impact, faulty airbag deployment. I was able to continue to drive my vehicle with no problems. They had suggested I file a claim with my insurance, but I requested the information. I want to report this, for they still have my vehicle with no resolution.

Vehicle experiences intermittent steering sticking/catching while turning. In March 2026, an independent repair facility verified the steering concern and documented: “Technician found Rack and Pinion will lock when manually turning.” The technician also referenced Honda Technical Service Bulletin / Safety Recall 18-103 regarding the 2017–2018 Honda CR-V EPS gearbox and recommended steering rack replacement. Immediately afterward in March 2026, the vehicle was inspected by Honda after the steering concern was reported, and no steering gearbox issue was identified at that time. Now, in May 2026, Honda is diagnosing the EPS steering rack/gearbox assembly and recommending replacement at an estimated cost of approximately $5,000. Although this VIN was reportedly not included in the original recall population, the vehicle is exhibiting steering symptoms substantially similar to the defect described in Honda’s EPS gearbox recall documentation. Because this condition affects steering responsiveness and safe vehicle control, and appears to be progressively worsening, we are requesting investigation into whether similar EPS steering defects may exist outside the originally identified VIN range.

The sunroof/moonroof glass spontaneously shattered. At 245 in the afternoon at 65 miles an hour no other vehicles near it. The day was clear and the temperature was in the low 70s. Heard a bang and pulled over to discover the glass had shattered. There was flying glass had another vehicle been near they would be been pelted with broken glass. The potential for injury of the passenger of the vehicle had the shade not been closed. The fact that the glass was not there it was hard to dispute that it happened. The local dealership put it off as an insurance issue rather than dealing with it. Insurance is moving forward. I believe it was a factory defect an should be looked into as a recall. No warnings just broken glass.

This morning, around 9 AM, I was stopped on [XXX] in traffic, just south of [XXX] . [XXX] ) Foot on break, waiting for traffic to start moving. Engine suddenly revved to about 4k RPM. Car started to lurch a bit, I had to put increased pressure on the brake to hold it. I wasn’t sure the brake would hold, so I shifted to neutral, engine revved up over 4k. It settled back down and I was able to drive to the Honda dealer on [XXX] (less than a mile from where the incident occurred.) Left the car there to be worked on. Car was in the engine idle shutoff mode. I don’t recall if it started revving coming out of that mode, but I don’t think so since my foot would have been off the brake at that point. Other than the lurch that occurred while I was pressing hard on the brake, I didn’t move the car until after I had put it in neutral and it settled down. Then I put it in drive and moved forward. I don't recall any warning lamps or messages. No report yet from the Honda dealer [XXX] ), but I wanted to report this since this should never happen -- regardless of the root cause. My steering wheel sticks especially in highway driving. The steering wheel feels as if it momentarily "locks" or "sticks" in the center position while driving at highway speeds. When I try to correct it, the wheel snaps free, often causing the vehicle to jerk or overcorrect. This is a big safety concern. There is a recall, but my model year of 2021 is not included in the recall. This has been an ongoing issue not just a one-time incident.

- #11739985May 26, 2026STRUCTURE:BODY
While driving at highway speeds, the factory sunroof glass panel of my brand-new Honda CRV spontaneously exploded outward with a loud bang, sounding like a gunshot. There were no vehicles directly ahead of me and no overpasses nearby. The sudden explosion caused immediate driver distraction and threw glass fragments, presenting a severe safety hazard at high speed. There were no warning indicators, physical symptoms, or unusual noises prior to the sudden failure. The vehicle was subsequently brought to an authorized Honda inspector (Farrish Auto Body) for a technical teardown and inspection. The certified estimator formally determined and documented that there was absolutely no evidence of an external impact point, rock strike, or road debris damage, confirming a spontaneous structural glass failure due to a manufacturing or assembly defect. The vehicle is currently un-drivable due to the missing roof panel and structural hazard, and the manufacturer (American Honda Corporate Case open) and purchasing dealership (DARCARS Honda of Fairfax) have delayed providing a resolution or safe temporary transportation. The component and the vehicle remain available for further official inspection.
