Driving down the highway my power steering becomes difficult to turn. It will loosen up but could be dangerous if I need to make a quick turn.I am on my 5th CRV. This is so disappointing. My dealership pretended to not know about it.

Driving on the highway it feels like I lose power steering. The steering wheel is hard to turn. It loosens up eventually. I have asked at the dealership about it. They pretend like they don't know about it. It could cause an accident if i have to make a sudden turn.

while driving, the steering wheel seems to be sort of STICKEY and not smooth when correcting the wheel. So when you need to slightly correct the wheel on the road it seems to be "stickey ".

Our 2023 CR-V began having noticeable issues involving the steering around 6000 miles after 9 months of ownership. The steering wheel initially began to develop a tendency to remain centered requiring additional effort to initiate a turn. Once turning it felt normal. Over time the problem became worse, and the wheel began to stick when turning as well. At 6500 miles there is a noticeable resistance to initiating turns, or centering the wheel from a turn. Turns to the right tend to stick more than turns to the left. It is to the point now that in moderate turns you can let go of the steering wheel and it will remain in a turn. A slight knocking noise has also developed. When driving straight down the road it is extremely difficult to keep the vehicle centered in the lane. The effort required increases with speed and narrower lanes. Often the small corrections that would be normal for keeping a vehicle centered in a lane are not possible. The sticking tendency is significant enough now even the smallest corrections meant to stay centered in a lane result in the car darting back and forth. This is independent of the lane keeping system, it happens with the system on and off. With the system on, the lane keeping system appears to struggle as well. At approximately 6500 miles the car went to the dealer, and it as quickly diagnosed as being in need of a new steering rack. The service center said it would be more annoying than unsafe and did not see the need to keep the car. The part was supposed to be ordered by the service center but we were told it was on backorder with no ETA. The vehicle has approximately 6800 miles now and the issue is continuing to get worse and the vehicle can be difficult to handle in dense traffic with narrow lanes. The primary concern is how much worse will it get, and will the steering rack ultimately fail. The vehicle did not illuminate any warning lamps and is available for inspection upon request.

- #11558212December 3, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving my 2019 Honda CRV yesterday and it slammed on the brakes to a complete stop all by itself. It shocked me and jerked my head so badly. If I wasn't wearing my seat belt I would have gone through the windshield. If someone was driving behind me, they would have hit me. Please advise on what I should do. There is not a recall but online I saw there were other occurrences like this. This is the first time this has happened since I bought the car new. I have not taken it to the dealer yet. The brake warning light came on as it was braking.

The steering wheel occasionally gets sticky, especially driving straight for a while. It can be overcome with a little extra force but the steering does not feel smooth because of it. I have not contacted the dealer yet. There are no warning lights or anything. I've got a little over 12k miles on the new car.

The following investigations need to be expanded to include 2024 Honda CRVs also. I have experience identical issues. , The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation (PE23-005) to access the alleged defect of momentary increase in steering effort in model years (MY) 2022 and 2023 Honda Civic vehicles. The complaints report that the momentary increase in steering effort (described as Investigation: EA23003 Open Resume Page 2 of 2 "sticky steering") occurs mostly at highway speeds after driving for a certain amount of time.

I have been noticing that at speeds above 45 miles per hour the steering wheel feels as if it’s sticking. I would say is that it’s sticky/jumpy and not allowing for a smooth transition. Because of that I notice that when driving straight especially it can cause me to almost tip out of lane because you canot make a small turn since it sticks from one point to the next which is usually much further than your intended turn radius. It was seemingly more noticeable after increased distance of driving and my first truly concerned was on a 90 mile trip down the garden state parkway. I thought it was the road until I read I read about this sticky steering being under investigation.

Steering at high speeds snaps or almost feels sticky. This probably has to do with lane keep assist. Even when the feature is turned off, the steering still snaps when slightly turning the steering wheel. Definitely an issue that many, many owners complain about. Probably needs a software update to correct the issue.

Steering becomes sticky at times and requires extra effort to keep the vehicle in place. Also, a cracking noise appears at times when turning the steering wheel.

Hello I’m [XXX] and own a 2008 Honda CRV that runs fine. VIN [XXX] , but previous owner never went to the recall and I bought the car in 2014 and recently, during a brake job, I first became aware of the problem when my mechanic alerted me to the recall situation and the rusting out that was putting drivers in a very dangerous situation. My car failed the recall because of the rust causing the degradation of the rear suspension trailing arm, and now I'm left with a car not fit to drive? and I would be liable for whatever happens but I was never offered a solution to buy the car back something to help and I cannot be without one to get to Dr’s or buy food live rural I have no choice living alone at [XXX] need a car. So a question, why am I the problem? when, in the first place, the car was dangerous from the manufacturer to the rusting out situation which was actually life threatening, lose steering, the wheel could collapse or the frame itself, and again, never offered any help at all some compensation, nothing? Just drive it home with the burden of the liability etc. I’m on a Fixed income of only $800 a month how am I to survive living rural without a car at my age? Please, I need some help. Why am I being punished when the design itself, as I said, created the dangerous problem and just that's it? Appreciate help from someone. I was driving on the highway at a speed of about 60 mph. I tried to push the break pedal because a car stopped in front of me. The distance between the other car and my car was initially about 200 ft. After I pushed the breaks, the breaks did not respond at all and the car kept going at the same speed. That caused an accident. These details are documented in a police report. I am reporting in case the same issue reported in this article caused my accident: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving, in particular on the highway, the steering wheel becomes suddenly stuck in its position. I am able to overcome the stickiness with a mild amount of effort. I currently have 5700 miles on my vehicle and it appears to be getting more noticeable over time. I have a call into the Honda dealer to have this issue addressed. I am waiting for them to call me back. I have received no warning from my vehicle that there is a problem with the steering.

The steering sticks and causes an increase in steering effort. Prominent in highway driving and makes it hard to make subtle movements/corrections. Once the issue started, steering wheel play is also not smooth. Took my car to nearest dealer and service manager reproduced the issue. Still waiting to hear back from Honda on resolution.

Steering wheel “sticks” -there is resistance in the steering and then it may release suddenly which may cause a jerking of the wheel to over correct. The car was purchased new and did not experience this problem initially, but it seems to have developed over time. The ‘sticking’ of the steering is really noticeable at higher speeds such as highway driving. This is a safety concern as it makes it more difficult to steer and potentially cause an accident. There are no warning lights on or any other indication of a problem on the dash. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer or manufacturer yet, but I plan on making an appointment soon. It has not been inspected by the police or an insurance rep. Yes, the car/steering is available upon request.
