I took my 2023 Honda CRV Exl to the dealership last month because of steering problems. Steering seems to work against me as if it "catches", for lack of a better word. It is as if there is a gear and it has jerky movements, not smooth. This is my 4th CRV and I have never experienced anything like this. I took it to the dealership, they drove it 3 miles and said they couldnt duplicate the problem and sent me on my way. Since then it has gotten worse. It steering seems to lag behind my movements and it clicks at times. Its unsettling and i refuse to drive on the interstate to work anymore. I have had this car for 9 months and this should not be happening. It is not the driver assist, i disconnected it and its still happening. There is something wrong with the steering in this car. I am constantly working hard just to keep the car in lane. My only choice is to take it back again and ask them to drive more than 2 miles, if they would do that, i am sure they would experience what i am describing.

The contact owns a 2015 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle started pulling to the right. The contact became aware that the electric power steering was not functioning properly. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle idled abnormally rough, causing the seats to vibrate. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the power steering assist control module. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V305000 (Engine) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was known.

The steering after a few miles, feels sticky. The steering wheel will softly jerk on the highway. Almost feels like adjusting for lane departure, but I am not departing the lane. This also causes lane keeping to feel jerky. Also, the android auto when plugged in and apps being used will turn off the radio or the sound system. Thank you

While driving over 40mph and especially while driving on the highway, the steering may feel sticky and requires more effort than normal to make small adjustments to the steering while trying to maintain the lane.

Steering feels “sticky” while driving (generally at highway speed) and requires a slight amount of extra resistance to turn the steering wheel from the straight position. Brought to a Honda dealer for inspection. They said that there was a setting that they adjusted, but no change in the condition has been observed since the dealer inspection.

Recently noticed while driving the steering wheel would stick. My lane assist is turned off. No warning lights. This is new for my vehicle, and I thought it was just me. My husband drove my car and said he could feel it too. I have not contacted the dealership yet. Since it is related to steering, it could be dangerous. The steering wheel does not jerk, but it sticks and almost causes you to oversteer.

Steering wheel feels like it “sticks” or is stiff. Brought to dealership and they drove it and compared to an identical vehicle on lot and confirmed that they felt the steering wheel was stiff. They contacted the tech line but were told there have been no issues so sent me home. They had taken a video of the technician stating the wheel was stiff when driving.

my steering wheel is sticking while driving. It has not caused an incident yet, but is causing me to oversteer consistently as it takes too much resistance to overcome the stuck position when trying to make smooth steering movements especially around long slow curves. Even when going straight on multiple lane roads it is quite difficult to make small corrections to stay in my lane. It is bad enough that I will not allow my wife or daughter to operate the car until I have time to take it to the service department.

Starting at around 10,000 miles i started feeling something in the steering when driving. It was a very light feeling of the steering sticking. Over the next few weeks the feeling seemed to increase at times, other times it would still be very light. I am currently trying to find the right time to get it into the dealers for a check up.

- #11557816December 1, 2023SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Purchased vehicle June 15, 2023. On June 22, 2023, July 13, 2023, and July 29, 2023, the vehicle suddenly applied the brakes with a warning of BRAKE on the dashboard. This happened so suddenly that it nearly caused rear end collision from traffic behind. This was while driving at normal speeds on 2 lane road with double yellow line and traffic coming in opposite direction. But with no reason for the automatic braking. On November 20, 2023, this happened again under same conditions but with no other traffic on the road. After first incident returned to dealer and service advisor did something on the dashboard display and said he reduced the sensitivity of the system. Returned to dealer last Friday November 24 and left it there until Monday November 27. They could not reproduce the issue and so recommended turning off the system which they did. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

My CRV's door lock has been broken on and off for years now. I assumed it was a problem with the battery in the key or the key itself. I really became a problem a few months ago when the door would not open even with the key inserted into the lock. I would have to use the automatic lock and unlock buttons several times and then insert and turn the key before it would open. I did not know if or when the lock would fail permanently and I would be locked out of my car. This is a safety issue because I could have been stranded outside alone, or worse, stranded on the road with my infant. I understand that Honda settled a class action lawsuit for this known problem. (Kevin Davitt, et al. v. America Honda Motor Co., Inc., et al., Case No. XXX, in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.) I never received notice that there was a recall for this door actuator problem or that I was eligible to be a part of the class action. I contacted Honda and they insisted that I get a diagnostic though their dealership. They said I might be eligible for some sort of "good will" refund. I paid for the diagnostic and the repair, which was over $400. The service center at the dealer even said it was a known problem and that I should get something. Honda called me to deny the claim because they said I was out of warranty. They knew I was out of warranty when I contacted them in the first place. I would have gone to a local repair shop if I had known that they were using this as a ruse to get repair costs from me. The problem is that they knew that people were getting locked out of their cars and they didn't tell anyone. They knew that I was potentially part of the class of people who could have gotten relief but they didn't contact me. I don't think that they should leave people stranded out on the road or struggling with their door locks in this day and age when people get robbed or attacked a shopping centers and gas stations. - #11557796November 30, 2023AIR BAGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I had a medium sized doe run in front of the vehicle while on the highway. I had the adaptive cruise control set to 62 MPH with lane keeping assist and all other safety features enabled. When the deer ran out out in front of the vehicle the emergency breaking did not engage, nor did it flash the warning or make the chime. It caused major damage to the front center and drivers side of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. However, after the collision, the airbag light on the dash illuminated and stayed on. The airbag light has never came on before other than the illumination test when first starting the car. Also, the Hazzard lights did not com on automatically. The collision had enough impact to send the several hundred pound deer over 100' down the road. The only safety feature that partly worked was the retracting seat belts. I say partly worked because only the lap portion tightened. There was no tightening of the shoulder portion, which is now locked in place.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Emergency Automatic Braking feature was activated without any other vehicles being nearby. The brake warning light was illuminated. On another occasion, while driving on the roadway, the feature again activated erroneously. The contact believed that the failure was due to the steel plates on the roadway. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 178,000. The VIN was not available.

The wiper fluid is delayed, making the fluid not make it on windshield and all go to the side window. It works when stopped but when driving the fluid goes to the side od windshield and the driver side gets zero fluid and the passanger side gets dry and streaky. Very poor design. - #11557167November 28, 2023STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS
I took my 2009 Honda CRV in for a recall. In salt belt states where de-icing agents are used to maintain the roadway, the de-icing agents, along with mud and dirt, could enter the rear frame through the rear frame drainage points. This could cause the rear trailing arm to come off. The dealership ended up attaching a bracket that is supposed to keep me safe. My problem is that the bracket is attached to a highly corroded area of my vehicle (as shown in the attached pictures) When I brought this up they only stated that as long as the one bolt was able to be replaced then that is all they are required to do. I feel that the bracket should at least be attached to solid metal. Also, now I have to have the bracket removed again so I can get the frame repaired (even though the recall specifically says the corrosion was caused by a design flaw that allows salt and dirt to get into the inner frame through rear frame drainage points). I feel that there should be more criteria to this recall than just one bolt because they are sending cars back on the road that are still unsafe.

The contact owns a 2011 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the rear driver's side wheel, the lower control arm, and the axle detached, causing the contact to almost lose control of the vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and contacted the manufacturer for the recall repair. The manufacturer advised the contact to tow the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where a regional field inspector from Honda determined that the vehicle was beyond repair due to severe frame corrosion. The manufacturer opened a case. The contact stated that the recall remedy also involved buying back the vehicle if the vehicle was beyond repair; however, the contact had not received a call back from the manufacturer since April 2023. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The driver’s side mirror vibrates a lot( it’s so hard to see anything, especially on the freeway “it gets blurry”). The dealership changed the mirror glass for me and the issue still there. I went back again and complained, and they ordered the whole mirror assembly for me (i waited 6 months)—the replaced it for me, and STILL the mirror vibrates. I would love to hear back from you guys because it’s so unpredictable! Thanks

I was driving towards a metal plate in the road, and the emergency braking mechanism engaged, stopping me suddenly with no warning. Luckily the car behind me was able to stop and didn't rear-end me.
