Transmission failed on the freeway December 2021. I was suddenly unable to speed up or accelerate my car. Placed me, my passengers and other people on the freeway at serious risk. Many cars braked suddenly behind me and swerved out the way to prevent a car accident. Dealer at the service center denied a problem and was inspected by them. No warming lamps or messages.

While driving 20 mile/hr. the car's steering wheel got extremely stiff and difficult to steer. Made an appointment with Hoda Village to fix the issue. After diagnosis, service manager told me that it was rates chowing on electric harness and informed me this was not covered under warranty. Repair cost me about $700.00. Unfortunately, now the same issue is occurring, I have check all over the engine and don't see any rodent caused harness issues. Again, I called the dealer and spoke to service manager explaining the situation, they indicated I need to pay additional diagnostic charge plush any parts/labor. It's unacceptable what the dealer is telling me. This issue is extremely dangerous, to my safety and others as it may cause serious injury or death.

2004 HONDA Civic Cracked Block TSB [XXXX] Honda settled in a class-action lawsuit that covers 2008 - 2009 Civic engine block failures with unlimited miles for an extended 10-year warranty period. Covered Civics will receive an engine repair or replacement at no cost. The covered Civic engine castings were built using thinner aluminum and the cracked block will leak coolant causing the engine to overheat. Civics Covered 2006 - 2008 - ALL VINs beginning with 2HG & 1HG 2009 - Check eligibility with VIN Civic VINs beginning with 2HG & 1HG - Check eligibility * Excludes SI and Hybrid. My 2004 Civic has an identical engine crack with a 1HG VIN, and only 130k miles. The location of the crack is identical to the TSB and is not a result of the vehicle's maintenance and driver habits. I have found several cases where Honda Goodwill Assistance covered costs of repairs on vehicles past warranty. The 2004 Honda Civic has been recalled 15 times by the NHTSA with the engine problems severity rating a 10, on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being the worst). [XXX] labeled the 2004 Honda Civic with a red Alert Notice of the recalls rendering the appeal of owning a 2004 Civic an unreliable purchase. As well as, 2006 - 2019 Civics due to the TBS extended warranty on known engine issues. [XXX] reviews for a 2004 Honda Civics a 1 out of 5 (1 being the worst). Honda Recall, Q5A, Y58 on 2001 Civic airbags caused death, yet the recall was not announced until 2019. Placing a 10-year extended warranty has proven to not cover all Honda’s and should be reviewed on a case by case basis to catch any cars not covered by warranty. My Civic was agreed to be looked at by Honda, and I'm to send the detailed inspection report for review by the NA Honda Headquarters. Awaiting reply 11/14/2023. The contact leased a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated while driving 30-40 MPH, the steering wheel became stiff and pulled to the right and to the left. The contact stated that he was able to control the steering wheel and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly and had worsened. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the steering wheel alignment was performed; however, the failure persisted. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V704000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

- #11555063November 14, 2023STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
When driving at 70-75MPH my steering wheel will feel sticky or stuck while turning to the left between 10-12 O’clock . Feels as if the lane mitigation is wanting to correct my steering all while the lane assist is off. Any minor corrections while steering wheel is sticky results in major corrections and forces me to swerve. Afraid of electric steering failing at high speed and causing a severe accident.

This vehicle is two years old, has 70,000 miles on it now. It’s worth noting that this issue started when it had 15,000 mile on it several years ago. I took it to the dealer, but they told me they wouldn’t do anything about it since the light no longer indicated an issue. Randomly, the vehicle will suddenly say “collision mitigation system problem, see dealer” and “adaptive cruise control problem see dealer”. These two warnings always show up together, and always turn off lane keep assist and all cruise control options until the warning disappears. The warnings will pop up 5-6 times a year and sometimes last several days, sometimes only seconds. Dealer initially told me it may be due to water after it rains but now it’s happening even during dry weeks when we haven’t had rain in ages.

Anytime I am driving on the highway at normal highway speeds, the steering seems sticky. Sometimes I have to correct the wheel after curves. I notice it the most at 55mph+ during curves in the highway. It does not turn well or take turns well. I took it to the Honda dealership and they told me it was not part of the recalled serial numbers

My 18 year old daughter's 2016 Honda Civic has been having problems with her steering wheel where while driving on the highway or driving straight for a while, the steering wheel gets stuck and in order to stop it from sticking, she would have to jerk the car a little bit which causes her to swerve and it is a big problem if it happens while there are other cars around her. I have read numerous articles about this same problem with the same year, make and model of the car.

Keep getting LANE KEEPING and ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL errors randomly as well as BRAKE SYSTEM warning lights. Took to Honda and they said my camera and radar were functioning fine and recalibrated to be sure. I’m still receiving error messages daily.

The steering wheel sticks at the 12:00 position when driving at cruising speeds. Then, I have to use force to adjust the steering wheel while tracking down the road. The steering wheel breaks free and causes me to oversteer in that direction and I have to quickly steer back. It happens 50% of the time I’m driving over 60mph.

Electronic Power Steering Gear Box. See TSB 23-037. Steering does not respond as it should. When driving either in a straight line or in a turn, the EPS (electronic power steering) motor fails to sufficiently adhere to driver input (left or right turn). Problem was witnessed by service manager Tony Rocha of Ed Morse Honda 3790 W Blue Heron Blvd, Riviera Beach, FL 33404, (561) 508-8639. Tony drove my car with 36,616 miles and agreed that the steering is "sticking". In order to maintain a lane or make turns, extra force application is required by driver resulting in extremely dangerous oversteering. I am afraid to drive because I cannot sufficiently maintain control of the vehicle. The part has not been inspected because Honda does not employ electrical engineers at their service centers and no mechanic is qualified to understand this system. The only way to identify the problem part is through the symptoms of sticking steering as outlined in TSB 23-037. No warning message or code appears. The problem is persistent not intermittent. It is important to note that Honda recently issued recall 23V-703 in regards to incorrect stroke length of steering rack but this is a separate issue that is being confused/conflated by the service department. Problem is apparent from a standstill and at all speeds. Problem persists with or without LKAS and Lane Departure Mitigation.

While driving at a slight angle to the left, the steering wheel sticks. It seems to happen the most often going uphill at moderate speed, though can happen at any point. The sticking has varying degrees of severity. While not extremely dangerous it could be. It is a constant, unprovoked issue and requires that it be adjusted to maintain a safe line.

My infotainment system has been malfunctioning for roughly 4 year now. I bought my 2016 Honda Civic Touring in 2019 from Hagerstown Kia in Hagerstown Maryland. Several months after I purchased the car, my infotainment randomly does things on its own like back out of navigation apps and return to Home Screen or randomly turn on the blind spot camera. This is a major safety concern for me and other drivers because I have to fool with the infotainment system for several minutes so that I can go back to my navigation screen and know where to go and also be able to control the car’s temperature. This malfunction is very distracting therefore causing potential harm to me or other drivers. I see that there is an ongoing class lawsuit for this exact issue “Constance Chiulli v. American Honda Motor Co. Inc., et al., Case No. [XXX] in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.” Next time this malfunction occurs, I will take a video and I can provide that as proof to validate my case. I was approaching a green light, and engaged the brakes to slow down. As I approached the light reaching approximate 10MPH. The car shuddered, and the alternator must have glitched again. The wheel cranked itself back and forth, causing the car to spin and turn into oncoming traffic. This issue has been recalled for this vehicle but not this VIN. I have notified 3 Honda repair shops of this issue, and have been turned away. The problem is with the electromagnet in the electric steering column. It is well documented, and I have video of several instances of thi issue occurring. Additional witnesses of the problem are available. And the incident itself resulting in property damage and bodily harm. Honda was made aware of this problem on multiple occasions, and did nothing to remedy the problem.

As I was driving my car home on 8/31, I looked at the temperature gauge and saw my car was overheating. I make sure to check my temperature gauge periodically while driving so I am positive it’s the first time it’s popped up. I tried to pull over ASAP, but was in nonstop traffic and the car stopped moving. No lights were shown on the dashboard. I had recently gotten an oil change end of July when I purchased the car. Car was inspected by the state, 7/17/23 and passed. Car had a complete vehicle inspection the end of July as well and passed with flying colors. Car was diagnosed to have a cracked engine block by Conrad’s. My oil and coolant mixed. It has not been seen by a Honda manufacturer. No inspection done by insurance.

Purchased the vehicle on 3/5/2022 with less than 10k miles on it. Within the first 2 months of driving the vehicle, the infotainment screen would freeze while driving and reset. One of these occurrences happened while driving on the highway at which time when the screen froze, turned a different color, and all the lights on the dashboard turned on simultaneously resulting in me not having control of the vehicle mechanics. This lasted for a few seconds, however, driving at a speed of 65 mph without control of the vehicle mechanics was and is extremely dangerous which could have resulted in an accident causing damage, injury, and death. This occurrence happened a total of three times. After a few months owning the vehicle on the first attempt utilized the key fob to lower my windows which resulted in the battery draining and the vehicle inoprable. Since my vehicle is my kids and my only mode or transportation I had to go to the nearest open Autozone to purchase a new battery. Mind you this was on a Sunday night about 9:00 pm so I had to catch an Uber to the nearest open store about 25 miles away. Once I returned home I replaced the battery and the car started at which time I called it a night. The next morning when leaving home for work and taking kids to school the Infotainment Screen was frozen with a black Honda logo as well as a manlfunction with the reverse and side camera. I have taken my vehicle to the local Honda dealer twice on a Saturday since this is the only available free time I have, however, on both occasions both Service Associates conveyed they had not heard of this malfunction previously and that the vehicle would need a diagnostic test I could not afford. The incident occurred on 5/24/23.

The steering sticked to complete super heavy to try to pull and I tried to brake and lost control and crashed into a tree damaging my right side fender and front tire. This car is unsafe putting my life on the line. EX-L civic is not safe. The issue doesn't go away it does it every time I go 30-45 and steering just stop working as in it stuck and heavy so I took it in after the incident and dealership told me everything looks fine they joy ride my car and didn't catch it so I told them to let me drive them and they caught it stating its can be steering rack which they want me to pay out of pocket for I told them warranty should cover it they stated not a defect just failure from my driving which is not right as the car only had 500 miles. I always hear noise of a tapping between the wheel and something else.

My car locked up the steering and then I hear a random noise and I don't have control of it so I almost crash into another car, but was able to move over into a stop sign so my front bumper got hit and I already took it into a shop to do a replacement bumper.
