- #11580083March 29, 2024ENGINE, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, SERVICE BRAKES
While driving on 95, I lost all engine and power breaks with no warning. A message came up on my dash stating that I had lost engine power. Fortunately an exit was up ahead so I was able to get there and coast down the ramp. I attempted to make a right turn to get out of the way but ran out of momentum. Dealership stated my vacuum break pump failed and went into the cam shaft. They had to replace those and the solenoid actuator and value. They also conducted an oil change. I received it back yesterday, started the car today and the check engine light was on. They found more debris and replaced another point and said if the light comes on again it's the timing chains in the engine. I went out leave and the check engine light was on. They are now keeping it to repair the timing chains. I am fighting with GM to cover the expenses since I see this is an issue in previous models/years of GMC and Chevy vehicles.

- #11580131March 29, 2024ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
While driving the vehicle which only has 68,000 miles the reduced engine power warning light appeared. As quickly as was safe the car was pulled to the shoulder. It was towed to the dealer who states the Vacuum pump seized causing the camshaft phase actuator locating pin to spin. Originally they stated a new camshaft and vacuum pump were needed at $3,500, but now state the entire engine is damaged and must be replaced at cost of $12,000. The vehicle was well serviced and this manufacturing flaw lead to the vehicle be stopped on the road putting both the occupants and others around at risk.

My car was driving without issue until I stopped at a street light. My car started rocking front to back while sitting at the light and every other time I had to make a stop. The engine light came on. I had the vehicle towed to an auto shop where they confirmed that the timing chain broke. Due to this my engine was damaged to no repair. I would need to replace it. My gmc terrain is a 2017 with only 99,000 miles. I further learned that GM is aware of this issue but failed to recall this issue or warn owners that we were at risk. This can cause a vehicle to stop in the middle of driving which could cause a death if in the wrong place.

This Saturday morning driving my family to Bradenton as I was coming off the hwy to my exit when I experienced a brake fail I thought, brakes got real hard and I couldn't stop the car on time like I wanted to, so I had to press the brakes pedal harder to come to a complete stop, three different places no one knew what could be the problem until I took it to GMC dealership they can only give a code P0556 / U0401 SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST, seems it was too late to checked out they where about to close , something to do with the busters not sure yet but it's getting checked out tomorrow morning, I was driving on cruise control at a speed limit when this happened, will let you know what's the result of my situation.

- #11574754February 29, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Rear main oil seal is faulty. It caused the vehicle to leak oil to the point where it was dry. This is a known issue with these vehicles and could have caused catastrophic damage to the engine. Additionally, this can cause the vehicle to stop running and/or catch fire.

- #11574021February 26, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, STEERING
The car has revved high rpm's since purchase, with multiple attempts to get it resolved . Since then, the steering wheel has jerked out of my hand's multiple times, unexpecting, causing the car to jerk while being stopped. The car has also not budged in the middle of traffic while being in drive and the pedal down to the floor until at least a 10 second delay and when doing so the screen that includes the radio, etc panel has completely blacked out and started twitching

While in park and driving, the passenger seat belt locks and will not unlock. You must unfasten belt and refasten it. It does this multiple times during a trip. This has occurred since 2020.

- #11572310February 16, 2024BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
The blind spot detection sensors have failed and the rest of the detection systems using the bad sensors are also non functional. An alert is shown in the info center every time the car starts. I have read that the issue is due to poor positioning of the sensors allowing for tire spray to directly hit the non water resistant sensors and their connectors. The replacement parts and labor are ridiculously expensive and the ability for an owner to complete this task is nearly impossible. A simple splash guard behind the tire or even waterproofing the sensor and it’s entirety to avoid water penetrating and causing the very expensive sensor and all detection systems connected to it to fail.
