I was driving on the interstate and the vehicle just shut off with a warning stating conditions not right to shift. I had to drift off the interstate and the vehicle would not restart. This happened on 12/4/24 and has been at the dealership since.

The other day approximately 5 minutes after leaving my house I noticed a smell and saw some slight smoke coming from my rear window. I immediately turned off the rear defrost and my rear window shattered. The next day I discovered other Chevy/gmc vehicles have a recall for a short circuit in the rear defrost. Unfortunately the dealership will not help me until there is a recall with my vin as there is not an open recall on my vehicle.

While traveling from Florida back to Louisiana on [XXX], I stopped at a store when I came back out the vehicle would not start. I ended up having the battery boosted by a gentleman and then returned to my drive home. I drove from Quincy, Florida where the truck wouldn’t start to the [XXX] exit in Louisiana. I made 2 other stops but left the vehicle idling at both stops. At the [XXX] exit, I left the vehicle idling while I went inside and the vehicle quit running on its own. After many unsuccessful attempts, I couldn’t get the vehicle started again. I replaced the battery with no luck. Since it was Sunday night, I was unable to get the vehicle towed so I left the vehicle at the gas station and got a ride back to Baton Rouge so I could borrow a vehicle to get back to Winnfield, LA for work the following morning. My parents went the next morning ([XXX]) and had the mega switch replaced and the truck started right up. My mother then drove the vehicle to Baton Rouge, when she stopped at a traffic light, the truck quit again and she called OnStar to have it towed to Gerry Lane GMC. On [XXX], I received a call from Scott at Gerry Lane stating the vehicle had a lower engine knock and the truck needed a new engine. After multiple phone calls and my parents going to the dealership, mg parents were finally told the oil filter was filled with metal. None of that information was given in the phone call to me. I was simply told it needed a new engine with no explanation of how we got from a truck that wouldn’t start to needing a new engine. After waiting an extended time frame for them to locate an engine, I was finally able to pickup my truck on [XXX]. 024 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali Ultimate, which has suffered: •Five catastrophic engine failures at highway speeds. •Total brake failure, leaving the truck unable to stop. •Severe electrical malfunctions, including flickering headlights at night. •Retaliatory actions from General Motors after I refused to waive my legal rights. I have documented proof, including GM’s own service records, emails, and a 7-minute recorded statement from GM’s highest-level technician, confirming that GM installed the wrong computer module (1500 series instead of the required 2500 series) in my truck. Additionally, I have evidence that GM executives instructed technicians to conduct diagnostics, take apart the engine, and reassemble it—but NOT repair the defect—after I refused to sign an affidavit waiving my rights. Due to these failures, I suffered a dislocated shoulder in one of the incidents, and my [XXX] daughter remains traumatized to this day. Given the immediate danger this defect poses to other GMC Sierra 2500 owners, I respectfully request that NHTSA open an investigation and consider issuing a recall before a tragedy occurs. 1. Engine Failures Since 3,000 Miles – GM’s Own Work Orders Confirm Issue Since purchasing my 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali Ultimate, I have experienced five catastrophic engine failures, all occurring while traveling at highway speeds (70 mph): •The truck suddenly lost power, dropping from 70 mph to 5-10 mph within seconds. •This created an immediate risk of being rear-ended or losing control on the highway. •GM’s own service records confirm that my engine issues began at just 3,000 miles. •GM dealerships misdiagnosed the issue FOUR TIMES, returning my truck to me in an unsafe condition. •The real cause was only identified after the FIFTH failure, when a GM-certified head technician finally determined that GM had installed the wrong computer module (1500 series instead of 2500 series). This means that for months, GM knew my vehicle w INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle came to a screeching stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the electronic brake control module had short-circuited and there was a miscommunication, which engaged the parking brake and locked up the rear wheels. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was previously taken to the same dealer on two occasions and repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V889000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC); however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

Nothing has happened so far but I believe they have an issue with the Allison transmission. When you first start off in the morning driving slow the transmission shifts hard with a thump. I've taken it in to the GMC dealership in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and they kept the truck overnight and said everything seems to work as it should. I just traded my 2021 gmc 3500hd dually with 130k miles on it and never heard that or ever had an issue so I'm not sure what changed since then? I'm not sure what you guys can do to look into it? The GM N242454440 “collision Rear Wheel Lock Up from Transmission Valve Failure” was performed. The recall rendered the electrical charging system inoperable. GM engineering has been working on the vehicle for more than one month and recently determined that the recall software does not work properly with all vehicles. My truck is being returned to me without the recall being performed. Accordingly the safety hazard associated with rear wheel lockup has not been addressed and cannot be addressed at this time. Presumably GM will develop software in the future to address the safety condition. Meanwhile the safety hazard remains unaddressed for my vehicle and an unknown number others. Driving truck at highway speed and went to pass a group of slower vehicles on my right. I increased speed to 75 mph and the engine stopped and I had no acceleration. Engine would not shift into Neutral and would not restart. I coasted off to an exit ramp and the truck stopped in the middle of it blocking traffic for about an hour. Highway Patrol was on site to help direct traffic through the intersection of the off ramp and side road. We sat for approximately an hour before a tow truck could get us out of the intersection. The truck transmission was locked tight and the tow truck had to put the back wheel on skates to move it. I had to pay $175.00 to this tow truck company to move me approximately 200 yards to a local restaurant where we waited for the GMC provided tow service to arrive. GMC provided tow truck would only tow to nearest dealership which was in Weimer, TX. At the time of failure there was no warning. The truck just shut down making loud wining noises since the transmission was still in gear. This was an extremely stressful event and I was worried that someone was going to strike us at highway speed from the rear. Traffic was heavy that day on [XXX] heading [XXX] towards San Antonio and most left lane speeds were 75-80 mph and bumper to bumper traffic. The GMC Dealer in Weimer was very professional and inspected the engine on Dec 2nd notifying me that is was a total failure and would need to be replaced under warranty. The dealer had a new engine in hand within a few days and the truck was repaired with two weeks. I had a couple other issues with the OnStar system and the wireless after I picked up the truck and drive it home. I returned it to the dealer and proper parts were ordered to replace a bad control module that had failed during the engine failure. It took some additional time on my own after this was replaced to get my OnStar account back up and running correctly. This truck also had "tailgate drop" issues that the dealer fixed. - #11643184February 17, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Known issue and has been attributed to a manufacturing defct, but no recall- Leaking headlight caused damage to headlight- now turn signal and headlight do not work. Entire assembly needs to be replaced, GM / Extended Warranty Company will not cover, this safety part. Head light and turn signal were working on the way to the dealer, 1 month later when we picked it up - Right turn signal malfuction reading appeared on dash, headlight blinking and will not work. Picked up on Friday 1/30/25, and made an appointment for the following Wednesday to take it back in. Was told by dealer today that the replacement will not be covered and will cost $2100.00 to replace. This is a safety part and the truck can not be driven legally or safely without both headlights working.

My engine has had continual random piston misfire issues, I have changed the spark plugs, fuel injectors, and cat converter. The vehicle has "dynamic fuel management" (DFM) where four of the cylinders turn off when the load on the engine is low and turn back on when the load is high. A mechanic reviewed the vehicle and determined that all eight cylinders are turning off while driving due to the DFM. When it misfires there is momentary loss of power that potentially puts others at risk. A dealership performed a repair per a Bulletin but the issue was not fixed. The mechanic indicated this is a software issue with the computer update per the Bulletin. I have installed a DFM disabler to prevent DFM from working, don't have misfires, but this is an engineering issue that GM hasn't/won't address.

This morning, while driving to work, my truck was operating smoothly without any prior warning signs. Suddenly, the dashboard displayed a message indicating "Low Oil Pressure" and instructed me to turn off the vehicle. There were no preceding alerts, such as check engine lights or low oil pressure indicators. As I was preparing to follow the instructions, the vehicle dashboard displayed another message directing me to put the truck in neutral, and then the engine automatically shut off. Unfortunately, after this occurred, I was unable to restart the truck.

1) [XXX] - Was driving on the interstate at 65 - 70 mph when the truck suddenly shut off and shifted to neutral. I was in the far left lane and had to coast thru 2 lanes of high speed traffic to the right shoulder before the truck stopped coasting. Once I coasted to a stop on the right shoulder of the interstate, I tried to crank the truck up a couple of times and it finally cranked and I proceeded on to my destination. When I reached my destination and was attempting to park, the truck shut off again and would not crank after that. I then called roadside assistance to send a wrecker and take it to my local GMC dealer in Montgomery, Alabama. 2) My safety and others was put at risk when the truck, without warning, shut off and lost power while driving at 65-70 mph in heavy interstate traffic causing the truck to suddenly decrease speed and having to maneuver through traffic , without power, while coasting to the side of the road. 3) [XXX] - The service department at Mullinax GMC in Montgomery, Alabama called me about a week later to say the engine had "LOCKED UP" and that they had contacted GMC to begin the process of getting it fixed. They indicated that this was not uncommon with this model truck, and that it happens sometimes. 4) There were absolutely no warning lamps, messages, sounds or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the engine failure. I was caught completely off guard when the engine shut off. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have a 2023 6.2L V8 GMC AT4. I have ~ 27,000 miles on the truck. On 2/1/2025, I was driving down the interstate going 78 mph and I lost all power to the truck. This was a MAJOR safety issue because I could only "coast" to a stop. I fortunately was able to get to the emergency lane and call a tow truck. I put others at risk because I had no choice but to move over. I had my truck towed to Brookfield Buick GMC dealership. Because I had no power, I had no HEAT. I sat for 1.5 hours before a tow truck could come to me. I was freezing because it was 20 degrees outside. The dealership told me that I had massive engine failure "seizure", which will require a NEW engine. I had no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. This was a BIG safety issue and I'm fortunate I didn't get injured.
