Back up camera is almost useless in very dark situations. Back up lights on vehicle wash out the view and all you can see are the red marker lines. Needs either brighter back up lights or a better camera definition. You cannot see a children's bike or other things while trying to back up.

As I was driving on a paved public road, my truck shifted up/down multiple times on it's own in quick succession, then jerked the truck forward. The check engine light came on and the driver information center displayed 'Engine power reduced'. I had to return to my home which was closer than a dealer for service. I'm fortunate that this didn't happen while towing as I regularly do or while I'm on the freeway which I use several times a week. There was no warning that this was going to happen (e.g., no indicator lights or messages or even strange behavior from the vehicle). The GMC dealer confirmed the valve body in the transmission needs to be replaced and the part is on backorder with no ETA.

My transmission jerks randomly. It's done it since it's been brand new. When it does it, it is usually when it deaccellerates. I don't know if it's dangerous but I was hoping they had a fix for it by now.

The AC/Heat blower (fan) stopped working. The vehicle was new purchased new May 2023. August 2024 the blower motor stopped working. Took the vehicle to Jerry's GMC Weatherford, TX (where it was purchased) and they check the blower motor and replaced it. No charge for the service. Reason given for blower motor problem was, "motor shorted out, burnt the wiring and the connector". Now, February, 2025, the blower motor stopped working once again. Took it back to Jerry's GMC, Weatherfore, TX. The blower motor had shorted out once again, burnt the wires and connector. Reason given for the reaccurring problem, " the blower motors they are getting have a bearing problem, causing the motor to go to ground, overheat the wiring and burns the connector". They replaced the blower motor once again and no charge. The reason for this notice is, With these motors shorting out because of internal problems, the wiring melting and connector melting, there is the possibility of a fire hazard. We feel that there needs to an investigation into this problem before something happens. Thanks

DRIVING 70 MPH ON [XXX] IN MODERATE TRAFFIC WHEN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED DRAMATICALLY AND BEGAN TO SHUDDER . I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THREE WESTBOUND MARKED LANES AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY A DRIVER BEHIND ME WHICH HAD BEEN FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY. THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND MY OIL GAUGE WENT TO THE HIGH SIDE. I EXITED ONTO [XXX] AND AT 40 MPH THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE AND SHUDDER UNTIL I DROVE THE 6 MILES TO MY RESIDENCE. ON [XXX], I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO LASH GMC DEALERSHIP IN JOHNSTOWN OHIO. ONCE THERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILED LIFTER THAT BROKE INTO PIECES RESULTING IN A BENT ROD AND DAMAGED CAM SHAFT. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE THE SEVERITY OF THE FAILURE. THE TRUCK IS A 2018 GMC SIERRA DENALI WITH ONLY 65,449 MILES ON IT. IT COST ALMOST $70,000.00 NEW AND THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE COST ME $14,221.96. I FEEL MY PERSONAL SAFETY WAS JEOPARDIZED IN THIS INCIDENT. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE RESEARCHED THE 6.2 GMC ENGINE ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND REPORTS OF NUMEROUS SIMILIAR FAILURES AND INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE ENGINE IN QUESTION. I TRULY FEEL NHTSA SHOULD TAKE A STRONG LOOK AT THE ENGINE FAILURES INVOLVING THIS ENGINE AND FORCE GMC TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE ENGINES IN QUESTION DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVING THE ENGINES FAILURES IN TRAFFIC AND THE RISK ASSOCIATED WITH AN OCCURENCE. I am beyond frustrated with my newly purchased 2024 GMC Sierra Elevation 1500 5.3l V8. Back in November I was notified to bring my vehicle back to the dealership for a complete engine replacement. Ever since this time I have had continuous problems with the vehicle. One day after receiving my truck back, I noticed that it was running rough and misfiring. When I opened the hood, I observed a bungy cord still attached to the engine. Several weeks after, the check engine light came on and took a week to get back due to sensor issues with engine. Today, after getting off work, I turned on my truck, but I am unable to shift out of park and I am stuck waiting on a tow truck. There has been nothing but issues with this truck since they replaced the engine. I am not sure if the mechanics at Garlyn Shelton GMC in Temple, Texas, are qualified to replace engines. This is a brand new truck and I should not be having these issues. My fear is that these problems are going to continue because they either did not properly install the new engine or there are still defects.

While towing my dump trailer early in the morning for about 20 minutes I noticed sudden hard up shifting and down shifting in some gears on flat surface roads. I then proceeded to approach an incline hill about a 5% grade and then, what I've recently learned, my transmission locked up and released for a split second. The roads were slick so it didn't seem too harsh, I continued with no incident for another 40 miles and then it happened again while pulling up a 7% grade in a left hand sharp turn at 40 mph. The truck fish tailed and jack knifed my trailer on the left rear side of my truck and the front left side of the trailer. I was on a one lane road and had to continue until I reached my detitanation, I slowed and maintained a speed of 45 in order to prevent it from happening again but it did it 5 more times before reaching my destination. I'm currently scheduled to have the transmission checked on 02/27/2025 at Peterson's Chevrolet Nampa Idaho. In the meantime, I have no means of using any of my trailers.

My starter quit at 81,000 miles. It has always been a bit weak starting, but I have never had a starter go out on a vehicle at 81,000. I have replaced it, and the rebuilt starter is better than what was ever on this vehicle. I am also having problems with the transmission shuddering, shifting rough in low gear, and sometimes it reverses fast. Repair shops won't even touch the transmission. The dealership stated they couldn't get the problem to replicate the issues even though they know there are issues with the 8 speed transmissions.

The side mirrors have spider cracked from some type of electrical issue. This is the 2nd time this happened and it burns both mirrors at the same time. The mirrors become unusable and it appears The dealer replaced them under warranty the first time and the second time they said it is out of warranty so I had to pay out of pocket.

Approximately 3 miles into my trip i smelled something burning, thought it was a tractor trailer in front of me. Then my cab filled with smoke, I pulled over on the side of the road and examined the truck. The rear sliding window on the passenger side was cherry red and smoldering. I shut off the rear defrost, the cherry went out then the window shattered. No warning or beeps. My passenger and my safety were at risk to smoke inhalation, the possibility of a wreck, or burning. Gm claims there is no recall on this. But Canada has 159k recalls on this. Vehicle has 120444 miles on it. Temperature was 45 degrees out today at time of incident

Coolant control valve failure (P1098) after 50k service. When this engine code appears the vehicle goes into reduced power mode. While it does this at inopportune time and creates potential for colission with other vehicles such as when merging with traffic. The coolant control valve is a known issue and GM has just recently recalssified it from their powertrain warranty to their much shorter bumper to bumper or emissions warranty without notifity owners of this change. This move directly puts owners and drivers at risk while on the road. GM should be accountable to resolve this problem as failures are across multiples years and are happening to vehicles at all milages with some less than 5k miles. This is an obvious failure on their part and they should be required to rectify the situation.

Driving on the highway, while accelerating, heard a mechanical failure from the front end of the vehicle and had immediate loss of power, and reduction in performance/handling. The engine light came on and three warning messages; Service ESC, Service Parking Brake & Steering Assist is Reduced Drive with Care. Fortunately, the local GMC dealer was the next exit which is where the truck is currently located. The truck was inspected by the dealer and determined the engine should be replaced. It is available for inspection upon request. I have pictures of the warning messages and the work order from the dealer of their findings to date.

First time it happened was on November 28th 2024 around 8pm, turned de engine on, selected the reverse gear and stepped on the gas, the reverse gear was selected but the gear didn't worked at all. I almost hit a car that was passing on the street. I out the gear on drive and got the message "reduced acceleration". I believe that is a known issue by GM's 10 speed gearbox. The car is at the dealership and they informed me by e-mail that the part transmission valve body is in a "do not sell list". I have concerns about safety because losing power on a 70miles per hour road can be dangerous and not being able to reverse is also very dangerous. There are tons of posts about it in Facebook.
