AC stops working while driving on hot days, airflow stops and the situation is very dangerous. Tried to get the dealer to fix it, to no avail. I've been dealing with this dangerous (temperatures reached more than 110 F, without airflow) problem for two years. We are more than 20 owners of these luxury cars experiencing the same problem. I can provide their names and VINs upon request.

The entire instrument panel/cluster went out while driving. It did come back on after going totally black. We had no ability to see speed, fuel, or any cameras. This happened yesterday, May 13, 2025. We are trying to get an appointment at the dealership to address it. There does not appear to be any error codes recorded by the vehicle for this event, according to the app. It appears that this problem is the same as an existing recall for G80 vehicles through 2024. Genesis and NHTSA needs to add 2025 models to this recall (026G)

Vehicle Information: * Year: 2021 * Make: Genesis * Model: G80 * Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] ] * Mileage at time of incident/problem start: Approximately 26,377 miles Problem Description: The issue began around [XXX]. When pressing the brake pedal, whether the vehicle is completely stopped or while driving, a distinct clicking or ratcheting sound is heard. The sound is clearly audible inside the cabin and is slightly louder when listening under the hood. The sound appears to be originating from an area near a valve or other component (possibly related to the brake booster or ABS system). The sound is always present when the brake pedal is depressed, regardless of the amount of pressure applied (whether pressed firmly or smoothly) or the state of the engine (the sound occurs even when the engine is off). Currently, the brakes function and the vehicle is able to stop. There are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard indicating a fault in the brake system or any other system. Actions Taken So Far: The vehicle has not been taken for service regarding this specific issue yet. I have a scheduled appointment with an official Genesis dealer on the upcoming [May 7, 2025] to have the problem inspected and diagnosed. Reason for Submitting This Report: Although the brakes are currently functional, this unusual and persistent sound from the brake pedal is a significant concern and suggests a potential malfunction in a core component of the braking system. Since brake issues directly relate to the safety of the occupants and other road users, I have decided to report this potential defect to NHTSA for documentation and to contribute to any future investigations regarding the safety of the 2021 Genesis G80 model. I took my car in to have a recall repair completed. A relay kit was added to the engine compartment and my car has not operated the same since. When I start my car now it idles rough and is making noises that it wasn’t making before. When I accelerate my car stalls and is sluggish. Also when I accelerate my car stalls and speeds up uncontrollably, which is a concern for safety. I’ve contacted the dealership where this repair was completed and told them all the issues I’ve been having since the repair was completed. They keep stating that there is nothing wrong. I’ve spoken with Customer Relations and the Regional Manger only to get no assistance. I’m concerned about my safety and how this repair will affect my extended warranty because my engine has been altered. I wasn’t having any of these issues until this repair was completed and the dealership seems not to care or taking this seriously. The Regional Manager didn’t call me back until maybe a week or so after I kept constantly calling and advising that I was going to go to the news and get a lawyer. This issue has not been resolved.

At 63,230 miles the engine oil pressure light would illuminate on my 2017 Genesis G80. I took it to the dealer and the technician found the oil pressure switch on my car went bad and in the words of the mechanic was leaking internally. This is a known issue by Genesis/Hyundai as they are performing repairs in Korea (where this vehicle is built and assembled) for this very problem. But in America they are refusing to honor the warranty which under powertrain is valid for 10 years/100,000 miles. Proper function of the engine is clearly a part of the powertrain. The warranty further goes on to state that under engine, "gaskets and seals" are covered. The repairs I had to have performed at great expense for a failed oil pressure switch seemed clear to me under the warranty. Not only a known issue and covered where the car is made, but they seem to know they have a huge issue based on Genesis Forums and their complaints the numbers are large; they don't want to have to make it right for the owners.

My 2018 Genesis G80 has an issue in which the A/C quits working and blows warm air on the driver's side. I live in Florida where the heat is stifling and having warm air blowing during the high temperatures is dangerous. I have contacted Genesis who sent me a $220 Gift Card to have the dealer diagnose the problem. The dealer stated that this is a very common problem that Genesis will not acknowledge. My car only has 28,385 miles on it and is stored in a garage most of the time. I was told it needs a new evaporator coil which will cost $3,000. I am [XXX] and my husband is dealing with [XXX] I joined the Genesis G80 online forum and found that I am one of MANY people suffering with this problem. As the temperatures have already started to rise in Florida, I was struggling today as I drove to visit my husband in the hospital. I cannot go on much longer like this. Oil light keeps coming on suddenly, I looked online and there are many people who have had the same issue. It's only intermittent, and turns off when moving and turns on when idle. The first time it came on was when I was crawling on a first time in forever frozen Alabama road. I was very careful not to start sliding, and when the sign came on I panicked and ended up in a ditch. The safety issue comes from not knowing if this is a sensor issue or an actual oil issue. Most people stated that it was a sensor issue but to replace it, you must access inside of the motor.

Power trunk latch failed. Unable to open trunk. Inside trunk manual safety release latch failed to open trunk. If a child got trapped inside trunk they would be unable to escape. Dealer advised the power trunk release latch failed. Advised thr repair part # 81230-B1010 Latch assembly trunk lid $637.90. Repair labor cost $540.00 The dealer stated they accessed the trunk by removing the rear seat of the vehicle. Which shows the the failed trunk latch and inability to exit via the manual safety release latch is a potential safety issue.

Subject: Safety Concern Regarding 2017 Genesis G80 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report an ongoing issue with my 2017 Genesis G80. While driving, I have experienced a significant safety concern related to the vehicle's acceleration. Specifically, when accelerating at various speeds, the vehicle begins to jerk abruptly and violently, causing a potentially dangerous situation on the road. After seeking advice, I was informed that the problem might be related to the engine malfunctioning or failing. I am deeply concerned about the safety risks this poses, both for myself and others on the road. I would greatly appreciate any guidance or investigation into this matter to ensure the issue is addressed promptly. Thank you for your attention to this serious safety concern. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

At just 41,000 miles, the oil pressure sensor has failed. There are many on-line reports of this issue going back several years for the Genesis G80 sedan. It appears this is NOT covered under the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty and is only covered by the 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty. In my case, this part failed almost 5 years to the day. It is unreasonable that the owner should get stuck with a $1000+ repair bill for a part that has a well known failure reported over and over. This should be a free repair.

The hyundai genesis and the genesis G80 have an oil pressure sensor defect. Practically, everyone i know with a genesis, in particular the 3.8 L engine, has this issue. The oil pressure sensor illuminates even though the engine oil level is fine and this issue can occur at any time regardless of mileage. I'd be surprised if this issue has not been reported to you all.

For over one year we have been in contact with Round Rock Genesis in Round Rock, Texas about recalls # 254 & 018G (NHTSA Recall # 24V107000). Our Genesis G80 is now 6 years old. Failure to address this repair poses a risk of the car bursting into flames with no warning; Genesis advises parking the car outside. These recalls have not been performed because the dealership claims that they cannot get the needed parts. Recalls # 201 and 006G are meant to address the anti-lock braking system. Failure to address these recalls poses a risk of brake failure and fire. Because the service department of Round Rock Genesis have failed to ever call us back despite many messages left for them, we are not sure if this is still a current recall on this vehicle.
