SummaryCheck engine light with reduced power –P300A6D due to charge air system contamination Complaint The check engine light is activated, accompanied by fault code 'P300A6D The boost pressure is too low', indicating reduced boost pressure. Cause Charge air system restriction due to contamination: • Oil mist from the crankcase ventilation system can enter the intake tract and deposit within the charge air system • Under high thermal load and with soot-laden or aged engine oil, these deposits may carbonize • Carbonized deposits can loosen and accumulate in the charge air cooler and related components • This can result in partial or complete restriction of the charge air cooler, leading to underboost conditions and fault codes such as P300A6D Contributing factors may include: • High engine load operating profiles • Extended oil service intervals or degraded engine oil condition Remedy Prerequisite: Complete all guided diagnostic test steps for fault code P300A6D in Xentry Diagnostics and follow LI09.40-N-079144 before performing the repairs below. If carbonized oil deposits or restriction are identified within the charge air system: 1. Replace the following components as a set: • Charge air cooler • Exhaust turbocharger • Charge air pipe upstream of the charge air cooler 2. After completing repairs: • Perform engine oil and filter replacement using an approved specification oil. Approved oil specifications: • MB 229.52 SAE 5W-30 - BB00.40-P-0229-52A • MB 229.51 SAE 5W-30 - BB00.40-P-0229-51A 3. Perform control unit adaptations: • Reset intake air system adaptation values • Reset low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) adaptation values 4. After repair completion: • Perform a test drive • Verify that the fault code does not return 5. If the vehicle is within warranty and the charge air cooler is determined to be obstructed by debris, use damage code 50301 B2 when submitting the warranty claim. Notes: • Additional component replacement is not required unless supported by further diagnostic results. • Do not replace the charge air distributor pipe or Clean Air Line unless additional faults (for example, air mass-related faults) are present. • After replacement of components, ensure proper initialization and learning procedures are completed in the control unit. • Creation of an XENTRY TIPS case is not required for this condition. • Please review the attached photos for previously identified causes of these fault codes.

SummaryComplaint The check engine light is activated, accompanied by one or more of the following fault codes related to the Boost Pressure Positioner: • P300A6D The boost pressure is too low. Charge Air Cooler. • P300974 Component 'Boost pressure positioner' has a malfunction. The boost pressure is too low. • P300DFB Component 'Boost pressure positioner' has a malfunction. • P300DE8 Boost pressure control A has a malfunction after the cold start. Cause The potential causes for these fault codes are: A. Leak or Blockage in the Intake or Charge Air System: This can prevent the proper flow of air, affecting the boost pressure. B. Insufficient Source Vacuum, Vacuum Leak, or Sticking/Weak Vacuum Component: These issues can prevent the boost pressure positioner from functioning correctly. • For Model Year 2023-Cuurent vehicles operating at approximately 4,000 ft elevation or above, reduced ambient pressure and/or high brake demand may contribute to reduced available vacuum differential and under boost com-plaints, even when no discrete vacuum component failure is identified. C. Internal Malfunction of the Boost Pressure Positioner: The component itself may be faulty. D. Internal Defect with the Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) System inside the Turbocharger: Issues within the turbo-charger can affect boost pressure control. Remedy A. Leak or Blockage in the Intake or Charge Air System 1. Perform a Pressurized Smoke Test: •Conduct a smoke test on the intake, the charge air system, and the exhaust to identify any leaks.

SummaryOM642 DPF Filter Cracked or Broken Complaint Vehicle will not start or exhibits noisy exhaust. Check Engine Lamp (CEL) is on. Multiple control unit communication and system faults may be present, including but not limited to: 134800, 134900, 11B300, 11EC00, 15E100, 155700, 162500. Additional events codes may include: 134300, 102200, 163400, 16CE00. In many cases, multiple unrelated faults are stored due to electrical disruption from wiring damage rather than indivi-dual component failure. Cause The DPF filter is cracked, broken, or leaking, allowing hot exhaust gas to escape from the exhaust system. Depending on the location of the break or leak, hot exhaust gas may be directed toward the main wiring harness and/ or the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) dosing valve assembly. This heat exposure can result in: • Internal melting of wiring insulation within the harness • Short to ground conditions and loss of communication between control units • Damage to the dosing valve and/or heated AdBlue line Damage to the wiring harness may not be visible externally, as the outer tape can remain intact while the internal wires are melted and fused together. Remedy Inspect the DPF assembly for cracks, separation, or leakage. Do not proceed with further diagnosis or component replacement until the exhaust leak source has been identified and confirmed. If any damage is found, replace the DPF filter assembly. Based on the location of the failure, inspect all components in the path of the exhaust leak, including the dosing valve assembly and main wiring harness. The wiring harness must be opened in any area exposed to the exhaust leak to visually inspect the individual wires. External inspection alone is not sufficient to determine harness condition. Repair or replace any damaged wiring in accordance with approved repair procedures. Replace any dosing system components that show signs of heat damage. Failure to identify and repair all heat-affected components will result in repeat faults or no-start conditions.

SummarySprinter 907 - Rear Axle Noise Diagnosis Best Practices Complaint Various noises from area of rear axle while driving Cause A: Howling Noises The high‑frequency howling noise is caused by the normal meshing behavior of the rear axle gear set, consisting of the pinion and crown gear. Two example noise recordings are provided in the attachment for reference. The volume and perception of this noise can vary depending on vehicle weight and load condition. Due to the current design of the Sprinter rear axle, it is not possible to completely isolate or decouple the the vibration generated by the normal meshing of the rear axle gears from the vehicle body. As a result, this noise may be transmitted into the vehicle interior. This noise is considered a normal characteristic of the rear axle design and vehicle operation. As it is not the result of a technical failure, component repairs or replacements will not lead to an improvement. There is no negative impact on the function, durability, service life, or operational safety of the rear axle. B: Other Noises: Noises that differ from the described howling characteristic (for example grinding, droning, or chattering noises) are not considered normal and may indicate a technical concern. Possible causes may include, but are not limited to: • Damaged bearings • Increased or abnormal gear wear • Excessive play within the differential Remedy Remedy for Cause A: Do not replace any components. This noise is considered a normal characteristic of the rear axle design and vehicle operation. Remedy for Cause B: If the noise does not match the described howling characteristic, the concern must be diagnosed and documented using the guidance below, with the results included in the warranty claim as applicable. Documentation of Concern: In many cases, the concern can be remedied using available replacement parts, and a complete rear axle assembly replacement is not necessary. However, due to parts availability, tool availability and workshop constraints, a complete assembly replacement may be performed in select cases to mitigate vehicle downtime. IMPORTANT: This is not intended to be the default repair approach. Component replacement must not be performed without diagnostic findings that clearly support a technical defect. Replacing rear axle components without confirmed abnormal findings may result in a debit of the warranty claim. This document does not guarantee warranty coverage and is designed to aid in diagnosis and subsequent resolution of the complaint. Create a file with all of your documents, findings, photos and sound files. 1. To ensure there is a clear understanding of the customer complaint, collect and document the following information: - When did the noise start? - Verify whether any previous repairs or work were performed prior to the onset of the noise. - Did the noise occur suddenly, or did it develop progressively over time? - Is the vehicle upfitted, modified, or retrofitted? (List all modifications) - Attach photos of any modifications or added equipment. - Under which conditions does the noise occur? (Provide all that apply) • Vehicle speed • Selected gear • Load condition • Outside ambient temperature and/or weather conditions • Engine and drivetrain temperature Diagnosis and Inspection: 2. Collect a video or sound file of the noise concern, ensure the video is available if requested. 3. Perform an NVH recording and store the .pp data file. The file must be available if requested during warranty review or parts inspection.

SummaryThe check engine light is illuminated, or the AdBlue warning is active, with recorded faults related to AdBlue quality or concentration. Complaint Customer reports an illuminated check engine light and or an AdBlue system warning indicating AdBlue quality out of specification. The vehicle may enter reduced performance mode. One or more of the following fault codes related to the AdBlue tank may be stored: P206B31: Malfunction of the concentration sensor for AdBlue; the signal is absent. P203B31: Malfunction of the AdBlue fill level sensor; the signal is absent. P300494: The quality of the AdBlue is insufficient. Background AdBlue must meet ISO 22241 quality requirements. ISO 22241 urea content limits for AdBlue are 31.8 percent to 33.2 percent by mass. AdBlue begins to crystallize and freeze at approximately 12 degrees F. Freeze-thaw does not degrade the product when uncontaminated, and the bulk concentration returns to normal after complete thaw and mixing. Cause In cold soak conditions and during freeze thaw exposure, the tank contents may not be uniform at the time of sampling or system checks. During freezing and partial thaw, ice formation can temporarily create concentration gradients in the tank. As a result, urea percent readings can vary based on sample location and the state of thaw and mixing, which can produce apparent out of range readings even though the bulk fluid returns to normal after mixing. Remedy Testing Do not use a single urea percent reading taken from frozen, partially frozen, or not fully mixed AdBlue to make a repair or responsibility decision. Confirm full thaw and ensure tank contents are mixed before sampling. 1. Confirm full thaw - Confirm the AdBlue tank and associated components are fully thawed before sampling. - Do not sample slushy or partially frozen fluid. 2. Mix tank contents - Perform a road drive intended to mix the tank contents before sampling. - Idle time alone is not a reliable substitute for mixing. 3. Sample and measure - Take the sample and measure with the MB refractometer per the MB tool instructions. - Record the urea percent value. 4. Interpret the result against ISO 22241 limits - Within specification is 31.8 percent to 33.2 percent urea by mass. 5. Repeat if out of specification - If out of specification, repeat after an additional mixing drive to reduce sampling variation. - If still out of specification after full thaw, mixing, and repeat measurement, treat as a true out of specification result and proceed with further diagnosis per applicable MB guidance. Acceptance criteria AdBlue is within the ISO 22241 specification when the urea percent is between 31.8 percent and 33.2 percent by mass. Values outside this range are out of specification and require further diagnosis after completing the full thaw and mi-xing procedure above. Cross reference For vehicles with fault codes P206B31, P203B31, or P300494, refer to LI49.20-N-078838 for the detailed diagnostic and repair procedure. If a SCR or AdBlue warning reset is required after correction, refer to LI49.20-N-075995. Complete the diagnostic and corrective steps first. Perform the warning reset only after the underlying fault condition has been corrected. Warranty information and claim handling

SummaryCheck engine light or Adblue warning with fault codes P206B31, P203B31, or P300494 present in AdBlue (SCR) control unit (N118/5) Complaint The check engine light or AdBlue warning is activated, accompanied by one or more of the following fault codes related to the AdBlue tank: P206B31 Malfunction of the concentration sensor for AdBlue; the signal is absent. P203B31 Malfunction of the AdBlue fill level sensor; the signal is absent. P300494 The quality of the AdBlue is insufficient. Cause A. The software for the AdBlue (SCR) control unit (N118/5) is outdated. B. The AdBlue concentration is outside ISO 22241 limits (below 31.8 percent or above 33.2 percent). C. Frozen or partially frozen AdBlue can cause the AdBlue level and concentration functions to report inaccurate values. D. The AdBlue level and concentration sensing functions in the tank are damaged. E. Cold soak and freeze thaw exposure can temporarily create concentration gradients in the tank and lead to sampling dependent readings until fully thawed and mixed. Important Before evaluating any AdBlue concentration result, follow LI49.20-N-080376 to confirm full thaw, perform a mixing drive, and retest. Do not use a single urea percent reading taken from frozen, partially frozen, or not fully mixed AdBlue for a repair or responsibility decision. Remedy A. Software 1. Verify no newer software is available for the AdBlue (SCR) control unit (N118/5). 2. If a software update is available, program the control unit per XENTRY guidance. 3. Only after the system is in proper working condition, complete LI49.20-N-075995 for AdBlue warning reset. Note: If there is no updated software available, print the XENTRY screen indicating this and proceed to section B. B. AdBlue concentration 1. Confirm full thaw and mixing per LI49.20-N-080376, then verify AdBlue concentration. a. Check concentration using the MB refractometer per the MB tool instructions and applicable WIS guidance. b. Use freeze frame data when applicable. 2. If AdBlue concentration remains below 31.8 percent or above 33.2 percent after full thaw, mixing drive, and retest, AdBlue replacement is required. Warranty and responsibility decisions must follow LI49.20-N-080376 warranty handling guidance and standard war-ranty policy. 3. If AdBlue concentration is within specification, proceed to section C. C. Frozen AdBlue or SCR actual values indicate frozen AdBlue 1. Check if AdBlue is frozen. If frozen, allow the vehicle to sit in a warm environment overnight and recheck. 2. With the vehicle running and XENTRY connected, display the actual AdBlue level values. 3. Drain the AdBlue tank and verify the displayed fill level reflects the change. 4. Fill the AdBlue tank slowly. Do not overfill. Verify the fill level reflects the change. Note: For model years 23 to 25, Fill Level Sensor 1 functions as the empty sensor and accurately measures only the bottom portion of the tank. Once the level is above the measurement range, the displayed value may fluctuate. This is nor-mal. 5. Reset the AdBlue tank fill level via XENTRY. Print the XENTRY pages showing that the fill up completed success-fully. 6. Only after the system is in proper working condition, complete LI49.20-N-075995 for AdBlue warning reset and print the XENTRY pages confirming the reset completed successfully. Note: If XENTRY still indicates frozen AdBlue or the concentration remains inaccurate after drain and refill and the thaw, mix, retest requirements were completed, proceed to section D. D. Damaged AdBlue level and concentration sensing functions 1. Replace the AdBlue tank as required by applicable MB guidance. 2. With the vehicle running and XENTRY connected, display the actual AdBlue level values. 3. Fill the AdBlue tank slowly. Do not overfill. Verify the fill level reflects the change. 4. Reset the AdBlue tank fill level via XENTRY. 5. Only after the system is in proper working condition, complete LI49.20-N-075995 for AdBlue warning reset.

SummaryVehicles with SCR Generation 4: SCR/AdBlue® warning message cannot be reset with fault code P13DF00 or P300685 Complaint SCR or AdBlue warning message cannot be reset. All fault codes in the AdBlue (SCR) control unit have been processed and corrected, however fault codes P13DF00 or P300685 remain active and stored. Cause The procedure for resetting the SCR or AdBlue warning message with XENTRY Diagnosis has not been carried out. Note: If AdBlue quality or concentration related fault codes are present, such as P300494, P203B31, or P206B31, complete the applicable diagnostic procedure first. This includes the thaw, mixing drive, and retest requirements in LI49.20-N-080376 and the detailed diagnosis and re-pair steps in LI49.20-N-078838 as applicable. Do not attempt to reset the SCR or AdBlue warning message until the underlying fault condition has been corrected. Remedy Note: Do not replace any parts for an incorrectly executed reset procedure. 1. Connect the battery charger •Maintain adequate voltage throughout the procedure per applicable guidance. 2. Connect the diagnostic device •Use the latest version of XENTRY Diagnosis and Add-Ons. 3. Reset the SCR or AdBlue warning message using XENTRY Diagnosis •Quick test view → N118/5 – Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR GEN4) → Special processes → Reset SCR/AdBlue® warning message. Note: Ensure all 5 listed processes are completed successfully, indicated by Actual value: "successfully completed". 4. Complete the disconnect and sleep mode initiation procedure •Disconnect XENTRY. •Refer to manual AD00.00-D-2000-06TS for the correct procedure to disconnect the diagnostic device from Model 907. •Disconnect the Battery Charger •Refer to manual AR54.10-D-1127TS for instructions on safely disconnecting the battery charger from Model 907. •Turn off the ignition. •Remove the key. •Lock the vehicle and wait approximately 15 minutes to allow the CAN bus system to enter sleep mode. 5. Post sleep mode vehicle start •After the 15-minute waiting period, start the vehicle. Note: The "starts remaining" message will remain on the Instrument Cluster (IC), but the vehicle will not be in the 5mph de-rate mode. 6. Drive for system self-test •Drive the vehicle for 5 to 10 miles to enable the SCR system to perform a self-test. Note: During the warning reset process, ensure the outside temperature sensor is reading above 10 degrees Fahrenheit. If not, keep the vehicle inside and repeat the reset. The vehicle may need to be driven to allow NOx sensors and the SCR system to complete their self-test before fault codes can be stored and then cleared. 7. Confirm and erase fault codes •Verify warning messages. •Ensure relevant fault codes are stored. •Erase fault memory if necessary. 8. Disconnect the Diagnostic Device •Refer to manual AD00.00-D-2000-06TS for the correct procedure to disconnect the diagnostic device from Model 907. 9. SummaryIn our continuing efforts to assure the proper performance of our products and to ensure the satisfaction of our customers, the warranty for the low pressure EGR differential pressure sensor in the vehicles listed below has been extended from 5 years/100,000 miles to 15 years/150,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Mercedes-Benz AG has determined that on Sprinter (907 platform) vehicles, under certain circumstances iodine corrosion might take place on the bonded connection of the low-pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) differential pressure sensor, which could lead to an electrical fault. In the potentially affected vehicles iodine corrosion on the bonded connection of the low pressure EGR differential pressure sensor might be caused by the release of iodine from rubber parts if the vehicle is exposed to excessive temperatures from sun exposure or in the event of significant heat accumulation due to long idle phases. The released iodine might promote electro corrosion on the sensor’s bonding. As soon as the iodine corrosion has progressed to the point where there is no longer an electrical connection, this would be correctly recognized by the low pressure EGR differential pressure sensor diagnostics as a hardware failure, the corresponding error code would be stored and the Malfunction Indicator Light would illuminate (2-trip MIL). Furthermore, corresponding error replacement reactions (e.g. deactivation of EGR and DPF regeneration, blocking of OBD-relevant diagnostics, and activation of limp home mode) would be initiated. As a result of the error replacement reactions, exhaust emissions might be increased. Due to the illumination of the MIL as well as the activation of the replacement reactions (including limp home mode), it is anticipated that customers would visit a workshop promptly.

SummaryXentry Battery Tester results do not match with workshop Complaint The result from the XENTRY battery test does not match the current state of the battery. Cause The XENTRY battery tester uses the stored on-board electrical system data in the SAM module to access the health of the 12 volt battery. The XENTRY battery test may not take into account a single discharge event because the SAM or EZS cannot record the data if the battery is discharged. Note: A discharged battery does not necessarily need to be replaced. A discharged battery may be recovered with no permanent damage.

SummaryComplaint Check engine warning light is active. The following fault codes may be present in the engine control unit: • P3007F1 Leak detected in the intake air system or • P3007F2 Mass air flow malfunction in the intake air system (cylinder bank 1) or • P300CA8 Leak detected in the intake air system or • P300CA9 Mass air flow malfunction in the intake air system (cylinder bank 1) or • P300CA9 and P3007F1: Faults are present simultaneously in the quick test In addition, the customer may report: • An “air leak” type noise from the engine compartment/intake air area, and/or • A “chugging” noise, especially during acceleration or under load. These noise complaints can be present with or without the above fault codes. Cause Causes for FC P3007F1 or P300CA8: Faults are set if: • If there is a leakage upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger (see "Dichtring_Sealant.jpg"). • If the housing intermediate flange at the high-pressure EGR valve (where the exhaust back pressure sensor connects) is carbonized or clogged, or if there is carbonization/incomplete sealing of the high-pressure or lowpressure EGR valves. (See “Gehaeusezwischenflansch_intermediate_flange.jpg” and verstopfter_Gehaeusezwischenflansch_clogged_Intermediate_Flange.jpg.”) • Note: Only relevant if the correction value in load range 1 is less than -8%. • If the intake manifold (charge air distribution line) or charge air cooler is carbonized (see "Saugrohr_intake_manifold.jpg"). • If engine timing is misadjusted. • There is a defective hot film mass air flow sensor or a hot film mass air flow sensor that is affected by incorrect airflow (this can be due to a clogged or deformed air filter). Refer to the attached file "Luftfilter_air_filter." Cause of fault code combination P300CA9 AND P3007F1: Faults are set if: • There is carbonization or incomplete closure of the high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation valve, especially in the housing intermediate flange at the EGR valve (linked to the exhaust back pressure sensor). Charleston Plant Identification – VIN 11th Digit “T”: For vehicles produced at the Charleston Plant (identified by “T” in the 11th digit of the VIN) with a production date on or after 12/20/2023: • If fault code P3007F1 or P300CA8 is set, an air leak is found, and the cause is identified as a loose or mis-installed Clean Air Line from the factory, open an Initial Field Quality (Info Only) case. • Include the current Quick Test and photos showing the Clean Air Line issue. For all other vehicles, continue diagnosis as per the standard instructions.
