As I was driving on a busy highway my eco sport started reducing speed then it cut out in the center of 696 causing a great safety concern. The tow truck driver was called and forced to have to stop traffic in order to get me to safety for my car to be towed . After contacting Ford they said it was nothing they could do for me far as covering any expenses due to my warranty being up .

Low oil pressure light came on. Pulled over right away. No rough idle or any odd noises. Had it towed to the ford dealership. Was told it was an oil pump retention belt that broke and the engine had no compression. The belt pieces were found in oil. Was told the engine had catastrophic failure due to the belt breaking. And would need to replace the whole engine. The car is a 2019 and only had 70000 miles on it. 10000 miles out of warranty. So I would have to pay for the entire thing. Ford would not take any responsibility. Called the ford costumer service assistance and was told no recalls were put out for that. I know there is a NHTSA investigation going on so I wanted to add my name to the list of people this has happened to.

This model of the Ford Ecosport needs to be recalled due to a faulty engine. My engine had to be replaced at 70k miles because of a design flaw. As I was driving, the car indicated low oil pressure and stopped accelerating. The engine had to be completely replaced.

I was driving down the highway and a warning light came on “low oil pressure” and I lost complete power and had to pull over along side the road and have my car towed. Once it got to the mechanic shop he said my timing belt shredded and is in my oil and the belt tensioner came off and now my motor/turbo is ruined. He’s been in contact with all of the local ford dealers and we were told this is a common problem with my cars year but I was not aware of this. I am due to have my first child any day now and I can not afford $3000(+) and some of the parts are on backorder per the ford dealership and I have no transportation. I’ve included a few photos that the mechanic sent to me for this report. I can get more if needed.

Our 2018 Ford EcoSport with less then 50,000 miles had an engine failure while driving on the highway. This was due to the loss of oil pressure. We were out of the warranty by just a few weeks and Ford provided no help or support. We found out that this was a common problem with the engine on this style car but again there was zero support or help from Ford. The old pressure light came on while on a road trip with my wife. Once the light came on the car stopped accelerating so we pulled off the highway and took or car to the nearest Ford Dealership. They told us the engine was destroyed and needed to be replaced. Again we were offered zero support or answers from Ford and we had no choice but to pay over $7,000 to get a new engine in a year old car with less then 50,000 miles.

I got up to get to work on 11/11/23 and my check engine light came on. Then my engine oil light came on. I had just gotten my oil changed not even a full week prior to this. I was driving and my car started to make a knocking noise and started to decelerate while I was coming up a hill. I got it towed to a Ford dealer that confirmed my oil pump went bad and I would need to replace my engine. My car only had 73000 miles on it. I called ford and they said there was nothing they could do. The denied knowing anything about an investigation into the oil pumps on these cars and said they won’t help pay or discount the price. The only option they gave me was to write a letter to some ford department in Michigan and wait on them to write me back as that’s the only way they communicate. Even with me replacing my engine it’s still the same oil pump as the last one so it’s just a matter of time before this one goes out as well. 5600 for a new engine and only a 2 year warranty and no advice on how to prevent this from happening again. They said keep my receipt and keep hoping for a recall. Ford is a joke.

The engine failed at 57,000 miles due to an oil pump failure. There was no warning light or check engine light. I was on the freeway and the car started to shake I was able to get off the freeway but this could have ended badly if I was unable to control the car on the freeway. The car has been at the dealer for over five weeks now waiting on a replacement engine that I am responsible for paying for even though it was not my fault to the tune of $8,500. The engines are going out on several of these cars and they need to be recalled it is a huge burden of expense and also accidents that are happening even resulting in death.
