Several times now my engine has shut off while driving and in the middle of coming to a stop. Luckily my breaks still worked with the vehicle shut down. I'd have to put in park and manually restart the vehicle to continue driving. This is something that puts myself and others on the road at risk.

My brakes let go while I was stopped at a traffic light almost causing me to rear end the car in front of me. Luckily the light turned green and the car in front of me moved before I ran into them. Went to try pull off the road to check what was going on and my brakes started working again. This incident put myself and others at risk.

Check engine light came on at 24k miles. Alert on Ford Pass app said the engine wasn't heating up to operating temperature fast enough. Had a second Alert come up the next time I drove the car saying there was an electrical issue in the vehicle causing anti lock breaks and other important driver assistance features to not work including traction control.

The swing gate ajar light comes on and the swing gate opens slightly (doesn’t fully open) while driving. This causes me to pull off the road and open, then close the door. This has happened while driving on the expressway and late at night which causes a safety concern. I have brought it to 2 different dealerships, but neither was able to reproduce it. There is no warning or reason this happens. It just random.

I was driving my Ecosport when suddenly we heard a ding and a warning came on stating “low engine oil pressure”. We pulled over immediately, was advised by our dealer to not drive it. Our vehicle was towed to a dealership as we were out of state and got a call two days after stating our engine needed to be replaced due to something with the oil. I was never given an exact reason what happened to the engine to cause needing a new one. This occurred at 66,000 (roughly) miles. We have an extended warranty however are fighting to have this issue covered.

The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer but was not diagnosed because there was a hole in the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving, the no oil pressure message was displayed. There was oil on the highway. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure was due to the engine and oil pressure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

I started my vehicle and got out to finish loading up my stuff and it slipped out of gear and flew down my mainly flat driveway backwards. My passenger door was open still and my car hit my husband's truck and peeled back the passenger door all the way to the fender. Since the incident , my car will randomly chime warning lights while driving (ex: road hill assist, service brake system, phone volume when my phone wasn't connected ). I took it to the dealership and they done tests, but the conclusion was not based on the truth because they stated I had an aftermarket product plugged in that never shut off but it does after an amount of time and its just a charger/fm transmitter because i cant connect to the car by bluetooth anymore... Luckily no one was behind it or got hurt, but honestly terrified to drive it because it's so unpredictable.

Got in the car to leave work and after driving for 5 minutes the car stalled and showed the oil and check engine light. Took the car to the dealer and was told code P0012 and P0014 were present with metal contamination in oil. This car has been maintained well at the dealer every step of the way since we purchased it. Dealer claims the entire engine needs to be replaced due to a failed oil pump causing bearing failure. This is at 75,000 Miles. Fords standard warranty is 36,000 miles, now I guess we all know why. There is no solution to this other than to RECALL these engines and fix what Ford knew they weren't ready to produce by rushing to put these cars together with faulty products. Seems like they are building cars to last every couple of years, a similar issue happened with our 2017 Escape.

According to the dealership, the axle seal tore and leaked transmission fluid. No lights, warnings or messages ever appeared in the days leading up to or following the incident. I noticed a mechanical whining sound about 24hrs prior to the incident (what the dealership later explained was transmission pump) however my car still drove normally otherwise. On my way to work, in a busy intersection with a steep hill, I heard a loud mechanical grinding sound when I tried to accelerate. After which, my card jerked backward and started to drive in reverse instead of forward despite being in drive. I was able to break before hitting oncoming cars. Luckily no one was injured by my moving in the wrong direction or suddenly stopping in an intersection. I was scared to drive my car and took it to the dealership the following Monday. They diagnosed the torn axle seal several days later. I have approximately 13,000 miles on this vehicle and have meticulously maintained it at the dealership of purchase.

- #11506900February 13, 2023FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ENGINE
My vehicle has the 4 cylinder (non eco boost) engine. It started having an emissions system fault which has been causing exhaust and fuel fumes to not only be very strong under the hood, but has become very strong inside the cab when the climate control is on. Since this started, my wife and I have been experiencing headaches, extreme lethargy, nausea and agitation that typicality resolves after leaving the windows down or completely leaving the vehicle altogether. Filling the fuel tank causes the vehicle to barely start and fumes become overbearingly noticeable directly after.

The vehicle locked up and would't move at 10,000 miles. We were lucky that the car was in someone's driveway instead of on the road. The vehicle was new at the time of purchase. I have a relative who is an auto technician and he said that he has experienced this problem with Ford transmissions many times.
