There is an open recall on my 2020 Ford EcoSport (VIN: [XXX] ) involving the engine oil pump. The recall was issued back in 2023, and I have been repeatedly told that the part would be available “at the beginning of the year” — first in 2023, then 2024, and now again in 2025. Each time, no resolution has come, and the part remains unavailable. This delay has made my vehicle unsafe and unreliable. I’ve been unable to drive it confidently or use it for essential transportation. Despite contacting both Ford and the original dealership (Preston Ford West in Randallstown, MD), I have received no specific repair date or clear guidance — only repeated postponements year after year. Meanwhile, I am forced to continue making high monthly loan payments on a vehicle I cannot safely operate. This has become a financial burden as well as a safety risk. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Ford’s handling of this recall and assess whether consumers like myself should be protected under a buyback, warranty extension, or similar resolution process. Recall is for 25S12 FRONT HALF SHAFT INSPECTION red McCombs completed and passed on June 23 2025 a week later the shaft had been bent Ford is denying paying for the recall because it was initially passed. I’m writing to follow up on an ongoing issue involving my 2021 Ford EcoSport currently at your dealership, Red McCombs Ford. I’ve been without a vehicle for several weeks now, and despite multiple text updates from Adrian, I’ve yet to receive a concrete response or resolution from Ford regarding the recall and repair process. As you are aware, my vehicle was inspected at your service department on June 23, 2025 in relation to Ford Recall 25S12, concerning improper axle half-shaft installation. At that time, I was told the axle was installed correctly. However, by June 30, the vehicle was back at your shop with a bent axle shaft — a serious failure that occurred less than a week after your team cleared it. This raises a critical concern. Given the nature of the recall — where improperly seated axles can cause spline wear, misalignment, or other stress-related damage — it is highly plausible that the damage was either missed during inspection or already underway when the vehicle was deemed compliant. Despite this, I have received no official update from Ford about whether the repair will be covered under the recall. The continued delay, lack of communication, and lack of access to a working vehicle have created a great deal of inconvenience and frustration. At this time, I am requesting the following: A written update on the current status of my vehicle’s repair and Ford’s determination. A copy of the inspection report from 6/23 outlining what was evaluated during the recall check. Confirmation that this issue is being escalated appropriately within Ford if a resolution is still pending. I would appreciate a prompt response so we can move forward in resolving this issue. You may contact me directly by phone or email.

After reviewing the latest service and inspection report was informed that the lug nuts are swollen and need to be replaced at a cost of $195.00 USD. After inspecting the vehicle lug nuts myself the marks on the outside of the nut show the pattern from the use of a twelve point socket when a six point socket should have been used. I replaced 14 of the 16 lug nuts on this vehicle but was unable to get 2 of them off; one on the left rear and the other on the right rear wheel. This style of lug nut; ie. 2-piece is a safety hazard as the two remaining wheels cannot be easily changed by the owner in the event of a flat or other issue. The information from the dealership was not totally correct as I was told they other portion was alumninum when my testing shows it to be steel. They said that they swell due to corrorsion of which there was none. How do I trust they are giving their customers the correct information when I hear this. Subjectively, I believe the original damage was caused by the service staff using a twelve point socket instead of the correct 19mm six point socket. You can see the marks left on the lug nuts in the include image.
