I brought a 2021 Ford Ecosport from Auto Direct in NC, February 2024( was not told about recall until after I signed the contract) and tried to fix the recall on the vehicle when purchased. I called Capital Ford dealership and was told they could not fix the recall until I got the letter. Presently, the vehicle is not working, the part of the recall has went out. It a big frustration issues because I have to keep making a monthly payments while my vehicle is sitting waiting for the manufacturer to decide to fix it. I would like to get out of this vehicle. I would like for the manufacturer to pay off my car so I can purchase another one. I need help.

On [XXX] I was driving on [XXX] towards Ashville, NC at 65 mph. My oil pressure light came on. Within thirty seconds my car had decelerated and come to a complete stop. I was able to roll onto the shoulder. There was no warning. The light had never come on before. I had just had my oil changed the month before. My car was eventually towed to Ken Wilson Ford in Canton, NC. I was told it was the oil tensioner arm and the engine needed to be replace. It is still there. Thankfully there is a dedicated service member that worked for more than eight weeks to get authorization for a rental car. I do not know how long they will allow me to keep that; without it I do not have transportation to and from work. I have talked to Ford Service and they have very concern about my situation. I was told on [XXX] that the parts were not expected until late 2024. Ford has know about this problem for years. It is just recently been declared an official recall. Suddenly there are parts available when they have been fixing this problem at the dealerships since 2018. I know there have been accidents related to this recall. In my case I was lucky there was no one in the lane next to me and I was able to coast to the shoulder. I have still not received a recall letter. On several occasions I've experienced delays with transmission shifting internally while in drive. (Had a few powertrain failure codes pop up, was told by shop that it will happen when all 4 wheels try to grip and can't at same time- independence ford). Have code dates in my ford app - and on 12/14/22 it happened again, this time accompanied by heater and blower motor cutting in and out, lights for heater, blower were strobing. (I have video of this issue, it won't upload) the defroster turned on when I powered off the heat and powered on. Ford shop notified and shown video, was told they couldn't replicate it. Had a few more occasions where transmission slipped w powertrain notification again, still unable to replicate per ford shop, despite codes. In July, 23 son had accident w car and delays were noted to guy at ford shop quick lane... codes present as well, and was within my warranty. The shop declined to submit issue to the warranty for my car, telling me to submit it to my car insurance first because of the damage to the front. I was promised by mgr from the shop, it would be covered if my insurance denied it, as it was reported while under 60,000 mile warranty. I was told by insurance companies and ford shop that car was safe to drive post accident until parts arrive, parts arrived and in Oct it was 3,000 miles outside of warranty, again checked with the shop regarding honoring the warranty, the insurance co denied it, stating it wasn't caused by son's accident. I reached out to ford to let them know insurance made a determination denying it and scheduled to drop it off to them. I had double checked again regarding honoring the warranty and was assured it would be. Vehicle was no longer drivable, so it was towed to ford location. I received a call telling me that it was out of warranty, it didn't matter what I was told previously. The manager was mistaken & never should've said what was said & the repair for bodywork was made elsewhere, so I I'm not helping."

The low oil pressure light came on and within minutes the engine completely stalled and multiple check engine codes came up. Lost all control of the vehicle. It is currently at the dealer and needs a whole new engine. It has been inspected by the technicians at the dealership. This all happened within minutes of the light coming on. The technician stated the oil pump belt was damaged and came apart resulting in a whole new engine being needed. Ford sent the recall notice in Feb 2024 and the part is still not available. They are refusing to pay for the new engine up front.

I have had nothing but problems with this car. It only had 36 miles on the car & dealership (Frederick Ford,Seaford de) classified it as used. The car wouldn’t start, had to call roadside assistance. After waiting the car decided to start. Going down road car kept cutting off & on and losing power. Everyone it lost power I had to try and pull over. What if there was nowhere to pull over and it just cut off in the road?!?! The dealership has been a total nightmare . I tried to exchange car & the sales manager was [XXX]. And was yelling he wouldn’t be able to sell a messed up vehicle. After complaining to Ford all I got was an extensive warranty with free oil changes. That’s it. I have records of all my car problems . My car has only a little over 15,000 miles cause I scared of driving it. I go back and forth to work that’s about it. I have 9 times my car has messed up from 04/2021-to 10/2022. 1x -[XXX] 3x- [XXX] 4x- [XXX] 1x- [XXX] Now There a recall on a car I haven’t even driven over 15,000 miles?!?!? This is the second time this has happened resulting in loss of my reliable transportation to/work, major repair while still in warrenty, WITHOUT vehicle loaner, rental or replacement during that time. I was again at the top of a steep hill- this time heading onto the highway- but midway into one of the busiest intersections in town. I heard a loud sound followed by mechanical spinning/winding when I try to accelerate on the green light. When I tried to drive or remove my food from the break, my car went backward down the hill and into oncoming traffic. Restarting my car didn’t help as park and drive didn’t engage. The only control I now had was the steering wheel and brake system. There were no warning signs before, during or after the ordeal. I’m not certain my lighting system worked on the outside of my vehicle as cars continued to approach the line I was in to turn left despite my hazard lights. My lights and electrical system did however work internally. I called Ford’s roadside helpline and told them I was trapped on a hill with limited control, with piles of cars behind me and I was afraid my brakes were also at risk of failing. I emphasized the emergency I was in. However, Ford Roadside was only allowed to dispatched a tow truck from 73 minutes away because the company located just 10 minutes away was not in contract with them. I also called the police to assist with traffic build up behind me as I was blocking traffic and in serious danger because I couldn’t exit the car without it rolling. I also called the out of contract tow company and paid the $200 out of pocket. I spent over an hour holding my foot on the break before help arrived.

The vehicle frequently loses power yet it is not consistent enough to determine a pattern. Sometimes I am simply backing out of my driveway, sometimes I am accelerating after a stop sign, sometimes I am accelerating while entering on the freeway, sometimes I am simply driving down the freeway. What is consistent are the symptoms. The vehicle loses power, like it’s running out of gas. I cannot accelerate for a brief moment. If I press on the gas pedal to give it more power, sometimes it works and powers through the problem, sometimes it does not. It typically happens either in reverse, or when I am accelerating between 0 to 70. One time I was getting on the freeway, and the car would not go over 60. There is a car quickly approaching behind me and a Semi in the far left lane, so the car behind me had to honk the horn and slam on the brakes, because my car lost power right at the bottom of the entrance ramp. It continued until I let off, I posted for a couple moments, and then tried to slowly accelerate. I was able to get up to 70 before it lost power again.
