Vacuum pump and vacuum pump belt replacement. Experiencing increased brake pedal effort, hard brake pedal, and increased stopping distance. Confirmed by an auto shop and mechanic that this is the issue. There was special coverage given by General Motors to this vehicle to address this issue that expired in November (but I did not know that this existed). The vehicle has not yet hit 150,000 miles. Request to have my Tahoe special coverage warranty extended to address this issue.

Vehicle stopped accelerating while coming up to speed from an on ramp to the interstate while traveling from Indiana to Florida. Vehicle was towed to the nearest Chevy dealership where we were told the engine had blow and would need replaced. Vehicle has been sitting on the same dealership in Florida since early July. My families lives were put at risk as we were traveling at a low rate of speed on the interstate. As well as, sitting on the side of the interstate in a remote area waiting for a tow truck and cab. The dealer has confirmed what happened via inspection. There were not warning lamps until we lost the engine.

GM has a known issue with engine lifters on this model engine that fail around 60,000 miles. Customer service managers even stated so themselves and GM has a TSB related to this. Repair bill is $5K-$6K if it doesn’t bend the cam shaft and upwards of $10K if cam is bent. This is a huge safety issue because vehicle fails while in motion, shakes violently, and numerous safety features the driver relies on turn off.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that soon after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle's lane assist feature would be active with no other vehicles in the contact vehicle's vicinity. The contact also stated that multiple other electrical defects would occur such as the backup camera activating while in drive(D), the instrument panel intermittently going blank, and various other defects. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on multiple occasions where they failed to duplicate the failure. The contact then stated that while driving at 80 MPH, the instrument panel went blank. The contact attempted to pull the vehicle over; however, an unknown turn-off of the vehicle warning message appeared on the instrument panel as a warning chime was also emitted from the vehicle. The contact then stated that the vehicle then came to an abrupt stop where the engine and brakes seized, while traveling at 34 MPH. Due to the failure, the contact was taken to the hospital where they were treated for whiplash, inflammation in the neck and spine, 7 bulging discs in the spine, and pain in various parts of the body. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure; the vehicle's engine was replaced under warranty. Despite the repair, the contact refused to take possession of the vehicle as they did not feel safe driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed; the contact had yet to receive any assistance from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Fuel System Control Module went out abruptly and without warning resulting in the vehicle and occupant being stranded on highway. This was a brand new vehicle with only 320 miles on the odometer, and happened after only 6 days of ownership. The dangerous nature of above situation is self evident. Unexpected loss of power while in traffic is dangerous. Dealership replaced the module and confirmed it was the cause of the breakdown. No warning, no change in audible sound, or anything else prior to vehicle shutting down suddenly. The selling dealership replaced the module and confirmed

My wife was driving the vehicle when all of a sudden the engine started knocking and throwing a bunch of codes. The engine has a bottom end knock and it seems this is a known problem with these engines.

Vehicle has no warning of issues. Regular maintenance had been performed and had 80k miles. Driving down a 4 lane the engine locked up and lost power. We have been waiting on it to be repaired for 4 months now. The engine is back ordered from GM and no one can find used ones. We found a refurbished one but it also locked up within 30 minutes of being installed. I was warrantied so now we are having ours rebuilt but is costing us $14k.

On [XXX] while driving on the highway near Wash DC engine stopped, went to neutral. Would not start again. OnStar towed vehicle to Koons Chevrolet GMC Tyson in Vienna VA. 703 448 7221. On Tuesday Jan 7th, Koons Service Dept. looked at vehicle and determined that it was a thrown bearing and needed a new engine. There are 28,712 miles on vehicle. You can inspect if desired. Our safety was extremely compromised. We were on a 5 lane highway in the left hand lane going 65. Engine quit and we had to coast to the far right lane in heavy traffic. We almost got hit several times on the maneuver and rear ended on the side of the road from oncoming vehicles while waiting for a tow. Dealer has work order to fix the vehicle. Vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer that we know of, nor the police or insurance representatives. Only inspected by the dealership. The only symptom before the incident was a dull sound like a plastic bag being stuck in the grill for a few minutes before incident. The Service Department said the parts are on a "Galactic backorder" which means they do not know when they will come in. GM is extremely uncooperative in assisting us with this issue. They will not repurchase vehicle, will not put in writing why they wont repurchase it. Will not provide any compensation until the issue is resolved, which could be months. It is an extreme financial hardship for me to cover my rental car (taxes and insurance for the rental car are not covered) and continue to pay the car payment and the insurance on a car that is not available to me. My case number with GM is [XXX]. I need my loan payed off or a repurchase for the original value of my car so I can purchase another vehicle. 4100 Miles - Asked service dept. at dealership to check for noise coming from underside of vehicle. No service was completed. 4800 Miles - Asked service dept. at dealership to check again for noise on suspension. Service indicated it was a parking brake cable that was rubbing. 9800 Miles - Asked service dept. at dealership to check fluttering noise coming from engine. No service was completed. 15,000 Miles - Asked service dept. at dealership to check again for rattling noise coming from engine. Service indicated fluttering heard was exhaust pulsing through the manifold. No service was completed. 21,000 Miles- Service Dept at dealership provided multi point inspection and given clear inspection. No service was completed even though I stated there was still engine noises. 24,000- Asked service dept. at dealership to check hard shifting from transmission and poor performance. In addition, mentioned the noises again. No service was completed, service stated it was due to colder temperatures. 25,000- Asked service dept. at dealership to check hard shifting from transmission and poor performance. In addition, mentioned the noises again. Engine cooler lines were replaced. Scanned and verified clutch learn values all normal. Activated TCC and disabled TCC and found normal operation. No service completed. Now, after warranty has expired, service at dealership is telling me my camshaft and lifters need to be replaced, struts are leaking, transmission needs attention and should be flushed, and that I should NOT be driving my vehicle due to safety concerns. Although, I had taken the vehicle in multiple times during warranty period with complaints about these very items, no service was ever completed to correct them. Since then, I have read multiple articles documenting GM issues with L87 6.2L engines and transmissions. I'm filing a formal complaint with GM, as these issues should have been communicated to consumers or fixed through recalls.

While sitting at an intersection of a busy 4 lane road the engine stoped without warning and could not be restarted. Due to a poor design by GM, the Tahoe has no ability to be put in neutral when the engine isn’t running. We were stuck at a busy intersection an almost hit multiple times, until a tow truck could come since it cannot be put in neutral and pushed. Dealer inspected engine and found it had been burning oil. The car never gave any warning lights that it was low on oil or that there were any engine issues. They did an oil change and gave the car back. The car was running, but within less than 5 miles of driving it it started to shake and make horrible noises. At this point, I was driving on the interstate. I was able to limp the vehicle back to the dealer. It was diagnosed by a dealer with spun engine bearing. I was told they were very close to seizing up and I would’ve been stranded on the interstate with no shoulder. This could’ve caused a major issue as I was on a busy interstate and the vehicle would’ve locked up. There was no shoulder at this point due to construction. Through both of these issues the vehicle never gave any dashboard warning lights. There are two major design flaws. The engine has an issue with its bearings. Also, there needs to be a way to put the vehicle into neutral while the engine is not running. It is not safe to not be able to put these vehicles into neutral.

Two issues: 1) Vehicle indicates to service safety restraint system yet Onstar diagnostic monthly report says system is fine. The service restraint system notice intermittently goes on and off while driving frequently. Unable to confirm if air bag systems are active while driving. 2) Vehicle was being driven in fast lane around 70 mph and experienced immediate loss of acceleration power while trying to pass semi-tractor. Onboard alert indicates reduced acceleration drive with care. Error code says something is wrong with the coolant control valve. Some servicers indicate they have a backlog of over 1+ month before can diagnose.

While driving under normal conditions, the 6.2L engine in our 2022 Chevy Tahoe seized and stopped running. We were lucky that it was early in the morning and without a lot of traffic and were able to coast the vehicle safely off of the road. Upon inspection from the dealership, they indicated that the engine experienced catastrophic failure. The dealership replaced the engine, Battery, Starter, Fuse box, and steering gear. We were lucky as the failure occurred just prior to us getting onto the interstate. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lights or issues with the vehicle. It was a sudden and catastrophic failure.

Statement of Safety Issue for 2021 Tahoe Transmission Vehicle Information: Make and Model: 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe VIN: [XXX] Issue Description: I have been receiving the warning message "Service Transmission. Unable to Shift Soon." multiple times, specifically on [XXX] and again on [XXX]. This issue is particularly concerning as there is an existing recall on the 2021 Tahoe for a transmission problem that can cause the rear wheels to lock up or result in the vehicle suddenly losing the ability to shift, as explained by a GMC transmission technician. Attempts to Resolve: I have contacted multiple dealerships to attempt to get my transmission diagnosed. Unfortunately, all dealerships within my area are backed up with transmission work for 4-6 weeks. I have spoken to multiple dealership service departments and have been informed that there are numerous vehicles currently experiencing this same exact issue. Some vehicles are continuing to drive, while others are being stranded on the side of the road, unable to shift. Safety Concern: The safety concern, as stated in the recall, is that my rear wheels may lock up or my vehicle may suddenly lose the ability to shift. This is particularly alarming for me as I have to drive over a large steep bridge every day to go to work, and there is no emergency lane while traversing the bridge. I am terrified to continue driving, but I only have one vehicle for my family (this 2021 Tahoe) and no dealership has a loaner vehicle available due to the high quantity of transmission errors. Conclusion: Given the severity of the issue and the potential safety risks, I urgently request assistance in addressing this transmission problem as soon as possible. The current situation is untenable and poses a significant danger to my safety and the safety of others on the road. I was at a red light and when I tried to take off the RPMs reeved up and my car would not move so I turned it off, opened and shut my door, restarted my car and it would move 100yds if that, then the RPMs shot up again (acted like it couldn’t shift out of first gear). Car has 101,647 miles, was serviced on time, no issues before and no warning lights on the dash came on before or after the issue happened. Car has not been repaired yet and still no lights on the dash.
