On [XXX] while driving on the highway near Wash DC engine stopped, went to neutral. Would not start again. OnStar towed vehicle to Koons Chevrolet GMC Tyson in Vienna VA. 703 448 7221. On Tuesday [XXX] Koons Service Dept. looked at vehicle and determined that it was a thrown bearing and needed a new engine. There are 28,712 miles on vehicle. You can inspect if desired. Our safety was extremely compromised. We were on a 5 lane highway in the left hand lane going 65. Engine quit and we had to coast to the far right lane in heavy tra]c. We almost got hit several times on the maneuver and rear ended on the side of the road from oncoming vehicles while waiting for a tow. Dealer has work order to repair the vehicle. Vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer that we know of, nor the police or insurance representatives. Only inspected by the dealership. The Service Department said the parts are on a "Galactic backorder" which means they do not know when they will come in. GM will not repurchase the vehicle or tell me when the vehicle can be repaired. Will not provide any compensation until the issue is resolved, which is unknown and could be months. It is an extreme financial hardship for me to cover my rental car (taxes and insurance for the rental car are not covered) and continue to pay the car payment and the insurance on a car that is not available to me. My case number with GM is [XXX]. GM has sent me to three representatives. Jonathan Phone Number: 1-866-790-5600 Extension: 5927263 (Chevrolet Customer Assistance) Tomorra (866) 790-5600, extension 524688 (supervisor) Janet (866) 790-5600, extension 5910608 (part delay department) None of the reps have given me any assistance with my situation. They just kick me down the chain to someone else that cannot assist me. I simply need my car fixed, loan payed off or a repurchase for the original value of my car so I can purchase another vehicle. Can you direct me to any assistance? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.

GM does not install TPMS devices in spare tires. I had a flat tire in snowy conditions 100+ miles from the nearest place for assistance. After putting on the spare tire the DIC (driver information center) displayed no air in tire. That’s because a TPMS doesn’t exist in spare tires. I started driving a my four wheel drive turned off. I turned it back on and after a very short distance it turned off again. Since the vehicle determined I didn’t have air in one of the tires (spare previously mentioned) the four wheel drive shouldn’t work to prevent damage. I needed the four wheel drive in the snow so I had to proceed at approximately 25 mph. This is a safety issue for not only my vehicle but others on the roadways. I contacted the dealer that had no idea about the problem and neither did the national GM customer support center. There is a tool that “tells” the vehicle where each tire is located so that is low tire pressure occurs the driver would know which tire needs attention. If a TPMS was installed from the factory and a flat occurred, spare installed then the four wheel drive would function. If a flat subsequently occurred the driver would still be alerted but wouldn’t know tire was involved. Visual check would find it. Either this or have GM provide an override so the trip could be continued safely. I believe that this situation applies to any four wheel drive vehicle not just GM and should be resolved if the NHTSB would initiate an investigation.

[XXX], my Chevy Tahoe engine sized up with a warning light no oil pressure and the engine turned off. I was left stranded on [XXX] with no cell phone service and no OnStar. Good thing I had my SXS. I was able to travel to work at the mine site where I work and was able to get cellphone service. I called my wife and she contacted the dealership and they sent out a tow truck from Richfield, Utah. The dealership said that I will have to pay the tow bill that’s is around $900.00 dollars. And my wife asked about a loaned vehicle and the dealership said that they don’t have any loaners. The dealership called me about three days later and said that the engine had spun three connecting rods. The dealership said it would be two months before they could get a new engine and in the meantime I’m still making payments and I bought the truck for work and I’m left using my wife’s car. When I started doing research I was amazed that Chevrolet has known about this issue with their engines and have not issued a recall. This problem has been going unresolved since 2005 and they just keep selling engines knowing that they will fail. My truck has 17,000 miles on it. The warranty is up at 36,000 miles, so the engine is covered under warranty. But l am left a foot and at their mercy. Very frustrating! After getting gas just outside of Pueblo Colorado on [XXX] I was entering [XXX] and luckily I was in the right lane when all of a sudden no power to the vehicle. I was able to make it by inches in the clear on the shoulder of the road. Being [XXX], I had trouble crawling over the console through the passenger side of the vehicle because I could not safely see the traffic on the interstate to exit the vehicle on the driver side. The state police could not come to assist us with any type of traffic control because of other accidents. The BNSF railroad has a mutual aid pack with them when needed in an emergency situation. They were able to come assist us with the red lights for traffic control, and the tow truck arrived and was able to flatbed the vehicle to a GM Chevy dealership. The tow truck also delivered our 26 foot travel trailer to the nearby campground. If it wouldn’t have been for the BNSF police this could’ve been horrendous accident because of the traffic. I have never been in a more scary situation as with the 2023 Tahoe built by a major corporation and being as unsafe as it is. I have been told the engine needs to be replaced because the bearings failed with metal fragments found in the oil pan. GM has been aware of this problem with the 6.2 engine for many years and has never done anything. Is it gonna take people getting killed on the highway to get something done. I was driving down the interstate and with the no warning the vehicle would not accelerate any longer and tried to coast onto the exit. Totally stopped blocking all traffic on the exit. Could not crank the engine or at least put in to neutral to push out of the road. Had it towed to dealership and they said motor had seized up, connecting rod bearing seized on crankshaft causing extensive metal contamination throughout engine. Wanted GM to buy back the vehicle but would not. Only replaced the engine.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Engine began misfiring and check engine light and ESC warning indicators displayed as I was driving. I pulled over and shut off vehicle, read manual and restarted engine. Same problems occurred, so I drove to Chevrolet dealer which was a mile away. The advisors said I shouldn’t drive it on the expressway or any further since engine had known problems that GM was aware of and it would blow up. Scans showed P0300 & P0305 for Cylinder 5 misfire. Major Repair included replacement of all lifters and push rods on both banks and the camshaft taking 17 days. This engine should have a GM Recall due to its severity. I was told the engine usually blows up before the warranty period is over and GM would just fix it. Unfortunately for me, my engine failed after full warranty and while I was traveling out of state to a family wedding, costly me directly. GM did pay half of the cost of repair which indicates admitting fault. The major safety concern is when an engine blows up and the driver cannot control the vehicle causing accidents or fire (and being stranded). There were No previous indications or symptoms of engine failure prior to date the problem occurred. Police departments in Illinois have had the same problem with this engine and their entire Tahoe fleet needed a new / repaired engine. This is an unacceptable action by GM to just wait for the problem to occur instead of proactively recalling the engine for repair.

Main bearing failure on my 6.2L at 17,000 miles. Starting making knocking noise, and within two miles it died and wouldn’t restart. No check engine light or warning lights. Blew a 40 amp fuse. Once replaced started but knocked and died. Dealership determined spun main causing internal engine failure. Motor replaced. Started making internal engine noise again like almost a spark knock type noise or rattle under acceleration. Has 32k miles on it now and bring into dealer next week for issue. Engine was on back order and took over a month to get.

This is a fairly new vehicle, so to be told we need a new engine when we’ve had the car for only 4 years is ridiculous! We were driving one day and heard a knocking sound coming from the front of the car. We made it home, but when we tried to leave the next time, we only made it halfway down our driveway when we heard a loud knocking noise from the front and the car suddenly stopped. We were dead in the water and needed to get the car towed back to our house. The gear shift was also stuck in drive and we couldn’t turn the car on. The engine had completely seized up. The tow truck driver had to get underneath the vehicle in order to disengage the gear shift and allow us to shift into neutral so that we could get it back home. When we had it towed to our mechanic, they told us that it was a bearing failure and the connecting rod had caused our engine to seize up. I’m just glad we weren’t on a major highway or busy street at the time this took place. This is supposed to be our family vehicle and it has been out of commission for more than 6 months because we haven’t been able to afford to replace the engine. We’ve tried contacting GM directly, but they said we were beyond our warranty and there was nothing they could do to help us.

this year vehicle is also part of the engine problem GM is experiencing with the V8 Engines. I purchased this vehicle in January 2024. With less than 40k miles on it. I drove it for approx 2 months and the entire engine seized up. I was told by the Chevy Dealership that GM is aware of the engine problems on these V8 Engines and did not issue a recall. It took GM over 9 weeks to send me a new engine. In which 6 weeks they had me rent a vehicle and then finally allowed the dealership to give me a rental from their lot. I had to wait several weeks to be reimbursed for the rental, and pay my high car payment during this time, without having my vehicle in my possession. I have asked for reimbursement on my car payments, and they denied it. My car seized up while doing 35 MPH on a road near my house thankfully, but it is a danger that they knew about, and did not recall these motors. I could have been driving over 65 miles on the highway and this could have happened, causing extreme danger to me and my children.
