I'm [XXX] so not much night driving. The other night I left a meeting when I turned on headlights one is pointing down. Difficult to see and hard to stay between the lines. My vehicle has never ben in an accident nor had lights repaired. Checking online I see this is a problem for many Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon owners and perhaps even pickup trucks. In my opinion this represents a serious safety concern. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

After I washed my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, I went to run some errands. As I pushed the start button, the car would try to start but did not. I tried several times without success. I had the truck towed to Ed Morse Chevrolet in Sunrise, Florida. My odometer is at approximately 43,000 miles. About 3-4 months ago, at 42,000 miles, I had the same situation. I had to have the truck towed to Ed Morse. At the time, the Service Writer told me it was probably the fuel cell module and that Chevy has been a problem with them. The Service Writer surprisingly admitted that this issue could cause the truck to stop in the middle of your commute! I told him that an issue this serious needs a recall. So, today, when AAA picked up my truck, he said that this happens frequently and he towed many Chevrolet Tahoes and pickup trucks with this issue. The AAA technician even reiterated that the fuel cell modular failure shuts down your vehicle while driving! This is insane and troubling. Within 1000 miles, I will need 2 fuel cell modules and there is no guarantee that this one will last. My family and I were returning from vacation from Florida to our home state, North Carolina, when our new Tahoe with 5700 miles started to act strangely. We hit bad traffic leaving Florida so there was plenty of stop and go type maneuvers. At one point, the vehicle turned itself off and put itself in neutral while we were thankfully going a slower speed due to traffic. I was able to get off the shoulder near the [XXX] and restart the car. It ran fine after restart until it started making a clanging type noise from the engine bay. We stopped again and checked temperatures and fluids and the clanging stopped. About 30 minutes later the clanging and a guttural noise began to occur from the engine bay and the transmission would not shift, keeping the vehicle at/around 4,000 RPM at 60mph. We were able to get the vehicle to a nearby rest stop. My wife, 3 children, and I were put in harm’s way due to GM’s faulty product and poor quality control. To have your vehicle shut itself off and/or not shift, especially on the interstate, is incredibly dangerous to the occupants of the vehicle as well as the motoring public. It is important to note that the vehicle never displayed any warning lights of any kind before, during, or after the incidents described. Almost two weeks later, Chevrolet (Cooper Chevrolet S.C.) has not even diagnosed the vehicle. They have told be that they will more than likely have to tear the motor apart to figure out the issue(s), confirming that the problem has been replicated by their technicians. The Tahoe is equipped with a 6.2l V8, a motor with well documented issues. The Tahoe is currently located at Cooper Chevrolet in Walterboro North Carolina. On one morning w/20 something temperature, Tahoe started and immediately shut down. When restarted, multiple malfunction lights were lit: engine, ABS/brake, steering column, traction control, etc. Reached Onstar for advice to see if Tahoe was drive-able, but only got confirmation of system malfunctions and offered roadside assistance but declined since at home and would call back if needed. About an hour later and several restarts, all malfunction lights finally cleared except engine light, which stayed on for another day or so. Tahoe drove okay during engine light on.

2 incidents of complete engine power loss while driving. Luckily was able to roll off road safely to curb. Dashboard glitch/flashing multiple/various message, including check engine, conditions not ideal to shift, etc. Would not re-start/shift when attempted. Tried disconnecting battery cable completely and re-connecting and that seemed to 're-set' the system and engine re-started. Incidents were about 30 days apart. "This battery reset" was tried because approx 1 year prior after leaving Tahoe parked at airport for a 7 day trip, it would not start, completely dead. Battery charge/jump would not work...watched youtube videos and someone said to try disconnect/reconnect cable and it worked to start it up at that time & did take it into Dealership after that incident and no-cost repairs were made for that issue. Called Chevy 3/25/25 on this power loss while driving issue to ask for information/assistance, they advised to take to dealership for diagnostic info/report and depending on result/cause might assist with costs to repairs. Appointment set for 3/28/2025 with Salem Oregon Chevrolet.

Started having an issue a few weeks ago with the vehicle shutting off while driving for no reason without warning causing a very serious safety concern. This issue seemed to stop until one Saturday when i started the vehicle i noticed a small tick. This ticking sound continued to grow. The vehicle then shut off again with warning while driving. 7 days had gone by since the first episode. When I started the vehicle again there was a very pronounce rapping and it sounded like parts inside the motor were coming apart. When I arrived home i called Onstar. They did a diagnostic twice and said the motor was not showing any codes and running perfect. I had it towed from my house and upon inspection the motor is blown with 10,000 miles

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle shut off with the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the highway, and the vehicle was later towed to a dealer. The dealer discovered that the lifter bearing had failed, which resulted in engine failure. The contact was provided with an estimate for a new engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The manufacturer agreed to cover half the cost of a new engine. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 84,528.

Transmission control module failed. I was driving at about 40 mph on a 4 lane street and it begin to feel like something was pulling the steering wheel to the left and I could not control the speed. I then pulled off into a parking lot and was facing a drainage ditch and needed to back the car into a space out of the way, it would not go into reverse. My husband met with me and was able to drive it forward to drive it to a dealership. The diagnosis was a failed transmission control module that cost us $2,478.

Engine failure due to rod bearing failure, without warning at 16,500k miles. It is available for inspection if needed. Currently is at dealership waiting for new engine. The vehicle shut off while driving at 40mph forcing me to have to stop in the middle of a roadway without any shoulders or turn offs. The problem was diagnosed and confirmed by a certified Chevrolet dealership. The failed engine will be sent to GM by the dealer. There were no warning lights prior to this incident or after.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who then determined that the sound was the lifters tapping. The contact was informed that all 16 lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer, who also diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the failure was with the lifters, and informed the previous dealer might not have been repaired the vehicle properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 28,000.

I was in a rollover crash on 3/9/25. I hit the guardrail head on, then completely rolled the vehicle multiple times. The driver/steering wheel airbag did NOT deploy. Curtain airbags, and the airbag from the seat deployed but the steering wheel did NOT. My head hit the steering wheel as a result with injuries to my face. The airbag malfunction was confirmed by a mechanic.

Traveling down the highway at 65 MPH the engine/transmission started bucking and you could hear the rear wheel lock up. The vehicle then would not shift and reduced the speed to 55MPH. Check engine light came on. Chevrolet is telling me the valve body needs to be replaced but keep driving it because it is on national backorder. After doing some research GM is hiding the issue and keeps installing faulty valve bodies. The GM fix is that they programmed the transmission to reduce speed when it notices excessive wear. GM is not standing behind the issue as it has been like pulling teeth to get a loaner vehicle.

Vehicle broke down on 12/1/2024. Had it towed to the nearest dealership. Dealership claimed that gasoline was pumped into the tank. We knew that wasn't the case. I called the store we last used for fuel and spoke to the manager. She was able to pull my wife up on surveillance and verified that she pumped diesel fuel from a "diesel fuel only" pump on 11/21/24. We also verified that the fuel in the holding tank at the store was actual diesel fuel. My wife purchased 23.45 gallons of diesel fuel. The tank size on this Tahoe is a 24 gallon tank. We had burned half of this fuel before the vehicle broke down. We also verified that no one else had complained about the fuel from the store. Dealership said it needed a new engine. We had it towed to another dealership for a second opinion, but they couldn't verify what happened because the 1st dealership had cleaned out the fuel system. I called GM but they won't help because they are going off what the 1st dealership claimed. Vehicle is still under power train warranty, but they won't fix it. This vehicle left us stranded on the side of the road. Insurance was called and a representative did go and look at the Tahoe. He called back and said that the issue does not fall within our policy.

Driving on a highway to Dallas and vehicle loss power and locked up in the middle of the highway. Was stranded on the highway for 4 hours. Vehicle would not start up and had to get towed to local dealership. Dealership diagnose the problem and stated that the engine has failed. I got the vehicle towed back home to my local dealership and they confirmed that the engine has failed. The vehicle showed no signs of engine issues. GM needs to recall this vehicle.

My vehicle is experiencing the same issue with the Third Row Headrests as outlined in a prior service bulletin (N202316750) for the same model year and make vehicle. My VIN number was not included in the bulletin, but I believe it should have been. The passenger side third row headrest will no longer stay up when the seat is engaged.

vehicle has been doing this since February 2024 but dealer would state the recall would fix the issue. February 18 2025 vehicle claimed to have a dead battery. Took to dealer once it was jumped they kept till February 28,2025 when I picked up vehicle less than 5 mile down the road vehicle shut off and luckily I was at a red light and the vehicle behind was not following close. The vehicle had just left dealership. Once i was able to get the vehicle back on it stated I needed to service the transmission. Took vehicle back to dealership and then they kept it to check. March 4,2025 I was told to pick up vehicle I did and it seemed well drove 6 miles to destination. Parked it and went inside came back out an hour later and vehicle was dead again. Had to call tow truck to pick me up and they left vehicle at dealer and it has been there since and they are stating it is in line.
