ENGINE
6.2 liter engine that seized without prior warning or indication. Has been blown up since 12/24/24. Vehicle is currently sitting at the Chevy dealer. Dealer has stated the engine failure was solely seized connecting rod bearings. GM has denied the claim stating the vehicles has 62,000 miles on it, putting it 2,000 miles out of warranty. Numerous calls and emails to GM directly. Dealer claims no one has reached out to them from GM since warranty declined. GM is stating the dealer hasn’t responded to them and that there isn’t anything they can do at this time. GM is also refusing to purchase the vehicle back.

While driving, a message appeared on the dash that stated 'reduced acceleration'. My car was not able to accelerate over 40mph. The engine was much louder than normal and sounded like a loud fan was running. The check engine light came on as well.

As I was driving, in July of 2024. I noticed that that I had a traction control system warning on my dashboard. I didn’t think of it to been serious. Then all sudden the engine kind stalled. So the car wasn’t going passed 40 miles per hour. So I managed to take it to dealership. Once there the technician mentioned to me that I wasn’t alone with this type of engine failure. He added and showed me another suburban with the issue. He said that the engine needs to be completely replaced. Because there is metal in the the oil pan. He added the cost of the repair would be $8000 to $12000. So that’s when I decided to take the car to the automation Chevy dealership. They confirmed the issue and charged me $8200 to fix it. I really expected GM to cover the cost. But I was that they would not. Upon further research I found out that that many people had the same engine issue. I am hoping that the government should take action to investigate these engines failures. I think GM failed his customers especially in the COVID era of 21 and 22. Thx

While driving my vehicle, it suddenly shook, a vibration started, and then the car began misfiring. I own two Chevrolet Suburbans, and since the same issue had happened before with the other one, I was more experienced this time. However, this time, there were also unusual noises coming from the vehicle. It wouldn’t accelerate, kept shaking, and multiple warning lights appeared on the dashboard, such as Engine, Traction, and ESC. The issue occurred as I tried to move forward after waiting at a red light. Since I had experienced this problem before, I immediately pulled over to a safe spot, ensuring our safety. I took the car to a different nearby mechanic. The mechanic stated that this is a common problem with these vehicles and that they encounter it quite often. I explained the previous incident I had experienced. The mechanic confirmed that the engine needed to be replaced. I purchased a new engine from Chevrolet and had it installed by the mechanic. I have already submitted a complaint to you regarding my other vehicle, which is the same model and year. I own two 2022 Suburbans, and both had their engines replaced within the past two months. The removed engines were sent to Chevrolet, but I have not received any information regarding the condition or cause of failure.

While driving my vehicle, it suddenly shook, a vibration started, and then the car began misfiring. We were turning onto an empty and quiet street, so our safety was not at risk. However, if this had happened in heavy traffic, it could have posed a significant danger, as the vehicle’s power dropped dramatically, and it all happened very suddenly. I took the car to a mechanic. Initially, the fuel injector was replaced, but the problem persisted, and the mechanic recommended an engine replacement. After that, I went to an authorized service center, and they also recommended an engine replacement. I purchased a new engine from Chevrolet and had the mechanic install it. The mechanic told me that this is a common issue and mentioned that two other Suburban engines were replaced this year. My next complaint will also be related to my second vehicle, which is the same model Suburban, experiencing similar issues. I own two 2022 Suburbans, and both have had their engines replaced in the past two months. The removed engines were sent to Chevrolet, but I have not received any information regarding their condition or the cause of the failure. On[XXX], at approximately [XXX], while driving on [XXX] at a speed of 80 mph, my vehicle suddenly lost all power and shut down without warning. I had no choice but to steer to the shoulder lane amidst high-speed traffic on the busy interstate. After coming to a stop, the car would not restart, leaving me stranded in a highly precarious situation. As the weather conditions worsened, turning into a blizzard, and darkness set in, I contacted GM Roadside Assistance for help. I was informed that assistance would take at least an hour to arrive. Feeling unsafe, I called local law enforcement. The officers arrived and parked behind my vehicle with their flashers on to ensure approaching drivers would slow down and avoid an accident. This was an extremely distressing and frightening experience. After an hour, GM Roadside Assistance called back and informed me they were unable to find an operator to tow the vehicle. By this time, the officers on-site had contacted a local tow company for my safety. The tow company advised me that I would need to pay in cash for their services, which I accepted due to the urgency of the situation. They towed the vehicle from [XXX] to their yard in Douglas, Wyoming. I then arranged for a ride to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where I had to report to work that night. This incident not only jeopardized my safety but also left me with significant unexpected expenses and inconvenience, all due to what I believe is a manufacturing defect in the vehicle. A new vehicle should not experience such catastrophic failure, and the delayed response from GM Roadside Assistance compounded the problem. I respectfully request the following actions 1. Loud ticking noise coming from the engine bay and extreme shaking. All happened after dropping off clients and getting on the highway on September 5, 2023. Took vehicle to two different mechanics and they said the camshaft and lifters had to be replaced. They recommended it would be cheaper and better if I replace the whole engine, which I did and had to pay out of pocket.

I was driving our 2021 Chevy Suburban, which had ~107,000 miles on it, at approximately 75 miles per hour. With no other indication, the low oil pressure light came on, then within two seconds I lost all power (motor shut off) and lost electronics in the car. I had to man-handle the vehicle to get it off the road without power or dash controls. Our family was stranded near the California/Nevada border with no cell reception in the middle of the night for over seven hours. I spent a fortune having the vehicle towed to a Chevy dealership (Wild West Chevrolet in Yerington, NV) where they indicated that there was a main bearing failure which caused the engine to seize. A full L87 motor replacement is required. The motor is currently on backorder with GM due to the high number of L87 engine failures. GM has not provided an estimated date of when they plan to have the motor replaced.

The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the message to "Please Restart Engine" was displayed before the vehicle stalled. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to restart. The contact coasted the vehicle off to the shoulder before the vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

The dealer stated the 6.2L engine had a bearing failure. When driving on 12-24-24 to a family event the dash lights all lit up and the car shut off. I was barely able to put the Suburban into neutral to pull off to the side of the road. Once stopped, the Suburban wouldn't start or even go into neutral so I could push it further off the side. This is extremely dangerous. My entire family was in the car on a very busy day (Xmas eve) without the ability to move the car in any way. Even when the tow truck driver arrived, he stated there isn't a way to force it into neutral. I also first learned about the 6.2L bearing issue from him. His 2023 Suburban was in the shop for the exact same issue. My 2024 Suburban has less than 13,000 miles on it before the failure!

Driving at 65MPH on a three-lane highway with heavy traffic, there was a sudden loss of motive power without any prior warning. As the motive loss occurred, the check engine repair light illuminated. I immediately illuminated my hazard lights. Luckily I had enough momentum to safely glide the vehicle over three lanes to the breakdown lane. I was fortunate that other vehicles gave way to me or that I was not on an incline, otherwise the vehicle would have been stopped in the middle of the highway. After repeated attempts, the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to a dealership. The dealership confirmed the problem and repair was covered under warranty.

Hi, my name is [XXX] . I have two major issues with my 2021 Chevrolet Suburban: The value body failed for the 2021 Suburban in December, causing engine power reduction and the engine transmission was not shifting properly. This was covered by my extended warranty, which I paid $2500 extra for at the time of purchase. Also, this VIN is for a Chevy Suburban Duramax Diesel. The Emissions Control Module ( ECM ) light has come on several times, starting from about 20K miles to now 61K miles. I noticed the ECM light comes on at about a 8K mile interval. I take it into the dealership and they have told me this is due to a software issue and then they reset the light. This has happened on at least 4 occasions since about 20K miles. However, now at 61K miles, they are telling me that the exhaust system has a leak and it may not be a covered repair under even my extended warranty. Basically, General Motors has kicked the can down the road on the ECM issue until it is no longer under warranty, and now they want me to pay for this expensive repair. This is wrong, I hope you can protect me and other Duramax owners from GM's unscrupulous business practices. You can reach me at [XXX] for more details. On 12/28/2024, while accelerating on the highway, I received without warning a reduced engine power warning and the RPM's were racing when I depressed the gas pedal. I was in moderate traffic in excess of 55 MPH and had difficulty safely making it to the right shoulder of the roadway as traffic was passing by at a greater rate of speed than I was able to travel. The vehicle would not go more than 30-35 MPH and it would not go into reverse after I was able to make it to a safe location. It was towed to a local dealership where I was later advised it was a transmission issue (valve body). The vehicle remains at the dealership awaiting repair as there is a large backorder for the valve body (I was told 8 at this point).

SERVICE BRAKES
brake master cylinder failure, took car to chevy after brakes got super hard to push , luckily no accident , felt like no brakes, at the point of failure, brake light, abs light, check engine light all went on ,at some point abs and brake light went off but check engine light stayed on and screen on Dash indicated max speed 62 then in a couple of minute screen showed max speed 42 mph , then lights go off except check engine and vehicle works as it should it randomly does this in one day so vehicle was taken in to dealership where they had a hard time figuring out if thats the problem and contacted gm tech support gm and they said with these codes it should be the brake master cylinder, and it would cost me 3000.00 to fix. on an 80 000.00 car that's a 2021 with 82,000 miles and they are pretty certain that will fix the problem, I'm pretty sure I don't want to get in an accident at 65 to 70 mph and die I feel this is a huge safety issue and thank god wife and kids weren't in the car considering this is my wife's car to drive the kids around in
