ENGINE
Lifter failure. At 30,000 miles the engine had lifter failure and was diagnosed and repaired by Donaldson Chevrolet in Silsbee Texas. This was covered under the original manufacturer warranty. Lifter failed occurred again approximately 13 months later and at 63,000 miles. There was no initials warning lights prior to the failure. The failure was sudden. Loud ticking/ knocking sounds and loss of power. At ideal vehicle would severely shake. Check engine light did come at time of failure. Both times the failure occurred during acceleration from a stop to approximately 40mph.

I WAS DRIVING HOME AT HIGHWAY, I HEAR NOISE SCRAPPING NOISE FROM UNEVEN PAVEMENT AND ROLL OVER SPEED BUMP AND A PIECE OF METAL LIKE U SHAPE FELT OFF. WHEN I GET HOME, INSPECTED I SAW MY VEHICLE FUEL TANK HAGGING ON ONE SIDE. FOR SAFETY TO PREVENT TANK TO FELT OFF I HAVE TO GET A STRAP TO SECURE IT THE TANK TO THE FRANME .

ENGINE
Without any warning driving 65 mph down a freeway the suburbans motor totally shut down. We had to cross over 2 lanes without getting hit by all the traffic. No dashboard lights ever came on until after we got onto the shoulder and sat there for an hour then the check engine light came on. We got stranded 2 hours from our vacation spot in AZ and now we’re stranded 1,600 miles from our home in MN. After 5 hours in the middle of the desert the tow truck finally showed up and towed the vehicle to Sands Dealership in Surprise AZ. We have never had any other problems before this happened. Never thought At 2023 vehicle with 30,000 miles would blow Motor. Waiting to hear from GM on what our options are to get it fixed and get us back home!

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
The check engine light came on at 14k miles indicating there was an emissions error. The brakes squeal and have had to be replaced 3 times since the original purchase in March of 2024. After the third replacement of brakes they still squeal. Even if the car is not braking it makes the noise. The radio shuts on and off constantly. Chevy reported they are aware of the issue but there is no fix at this time. The dealerships reset the radio but the issue persists. I’ve had to park the car because I’m afraid the brake issue is much more than they’re willing to admit.

With no warnings from the vehicle, I noticed a loud knocking sound while driving home. I was able to make it home and have the vehicle towed to the dealer where it was found to be in engine failure due to failure of engine bearing. I had to have a complete engine replacement. My car only had 65k miles and was purchased brand new and had all regular maintenance completed at the local chevy dealership.

Traveling [XXX] on [XXX] through Pascagoula, Ms at approximately 70mph. The engine revved high then put itself into Neutral and shutdown. I was able to coast safely to the shoulder of the road. There had been no prior warning of potential problems. The vehicle engine seized up and could not be placed into neutral for the tow service to safely load it. I was cruising at 45 - 50 mph and the vehicle went into NEUTRAL, shut off, would not restart, and would not shift into drive. I pulled into a Publix. I pressed the start /Stop button and the dash turned off. I turn pressed the brake and pressed the ignition button and the Suburban started up. Drove out of the parking lot and began accelerating when the vehicle shut off again. I could not restart the vehicle. I was able to coast into a gas station parking lot, but half of the vehicle was sticking out into the road. The vehicle would not go into neutral and would not start. The vehicle was towed to Palm Chevrolet in Ocala, Florida.

ENGINE
My two children and I were traveling to another state and had been driving about 2 hours when the engine in my 2022 Suburban suddenly quit working while I was in the middle of a highway. I had just accelerated and merged onto a multi-lane highway moving all the way to the far left lane when my engine completely went quiet and seemed to quit working. The car all of a sudden shifted into Neutral and started losing speed. I had to put my hazard lights on and cross back across the lanes to get back over to the emergency lane on the right all while losing speed. We were all pretty scared because the Suburban just seemed to quit working and wasn't responding. I'm thankful we were able to get safely to the emergency lane before the car completely stopped. Once I was in the emergency lane, I tried to see if the car would go back into Drive position but it would not. I turned the car off and waited about a minute and tried to power it back on but the only thing that worked was the electrical stuff in the car (the screen for my dashboard and car play/nav system) and the engine remained quiet. Once the tow truck arrived an hour later, the worker tried to jump the engine but it did not respond. It was obviously scary and has been a huge inconvenience but it also left us in a very unfortunate situation because we were in a different state and did not know the area or anyone nearby that could come and pick us up once the tow truck arrived. I was pretty much stranded with my 2 daughters and all of our luggage in a different state on the side of the road.

I was driving on [XXX] in rural Montana (zero cell phone coverage) on [XXX] (freezing weather, snow packed roads). Without warning the suburban just shut down. It seemed to still have "power". interior lights worked ect. but the engine just died. I tried to pull mostly off of the road but I couldn't get it entirely off of the road because of the snow pushed off of the road by snow plows. I tried to restart the vehicle several times but it would not turn over. I assumed it was an electrical issue at the time. There was zero warning that there was any engine issue. When a mechanic finally had the opportunity to look into the issue he told me the engine has seized up. I had to walk several miles in the cold hoping to get cell phone service to get to a place to warm up. I also couldn't get the vehicle off of the road and I was sure the vehicle was going to be hit or cause an accident on the narrow highway. The “add engine oil” light kept coming on and I initially thought it was because they forgot to reset it after my oil change because my car wasn’t reading it was due for one. I came to find out that my car is likely burning excess oil, according to the dealership, since all of the oil was gone. GM says that it’s normal to burn oil and as long as it’s up to 2 quarts between oil changes it’s fine. The dealership recommended that I get oil consumption test and sometimes it burned more oil than normal and other times it did not. We had to go every 1,000 miles which was an issue because it’s our main vehicle for family transportation and sometimes I would have to go under 1,000 miles because we needed it for a longer trip and would be over if waited until we got back. Also, my engine fan was making a very loud noise that would run for a while after my car was turned off and I was told multiple times it was fine until one time they checked it and it was indeed an engine malfunction and my engine would overheat when I went above a certain speed. The first fix wasn’t right and had to go back. I wasn’t burning enough oil to warrant GM to do anything.

Traveling at high speed on major highway and engine stopped. Unable to get car restarted and in fact the instrument panel and information center blanked out. Was forced to have vehicle towed approximately 60 miles to purchasing dealership for diagnosis. Dealer indicates engine is seized and will require replacement. Vehicle has had excellent, verifiable, maintenance record. We have owned this vehicle for approximately 18 months and currently has approximately 62,000 miles. Upon research, I have learned that our vehicle is not the only GM product to have this premature failure.

POWER TRAIN
Vehicle suddenly died and wont restart. The fuel control module was previously replaced. There was a recall for certain VINs but mine wasn't included even though I experienced the failure of the recalled part! This is extremely dangerous for the vehicle to suddenly die under way. In 2022 the fuel control module was replaced after the dangerous failure. The NHTSA recall that was for this part but excluded my vehicle is N212332040. You need to immediately include other VINs for this recall! Today I experienced the same symptoms. The car died while in gear and running and would not restart. The dealer is diagnosing the issue to determine if it is the same fuel control module. I highly suspect it is. If it isn't, there is another extremely dangerous defect with this vehicle.

My wife, [XXX] , was running some errands last night before taking our oldest daughter to dance practice and the check engine light appeared and the Suburban lost all power immediately. The engine wouldn’t restart and thank God she wasn’t on the highway. She called AAA roadside assistance who came out and checked the battery which was fine but ultimately had to get the vehicle towed to Bowman Chevrolet in Clarkston, MI. Vehicle is a 2022 Chevrolet Suburban and this is a serious situation that could have been catastrophic if this occurred on the highway that my wife was just on. My car has 118,000 miles. The engine cam shaft just came apart, mechanic ordered new engine end of December and I’m told I’m still on a waiting list. I had to replace both sets of lifters when I had very few miles on car..of course the engine is now out of warranty. Thanks
