We bought or Mazda cx 90 pre owned from a dealer so all recalls, billions etc had been taken care of. We been to notice a “sticky” steering wheel which is gradually getting worse. When taking on/off ramps on interstate we must yank steering wheel to correct direction as the wheel doesn’t move on its own. We are very concerned we will be in a serious wreck due to this. There is not a current recall or bulletin out from Mazda. We do plan to contact Mazda to have them hopefully give us a new steering column. This should be a recall for all 2014 Mazdas as this is a serious safety concern.

This was an issue included in a prior recall (NHTSA #24V022000). My car received the Mazda repair for this recall but this did not solve the problem. Steering wheel still sticks when turning. I then have to overcorrect in the opposite direction to unstick out of the turn which results in the car suddenly jolting in the opposite direction once the steering wheel becomes unstuck. I see this as dangerous as it could cause an accident.

ENGINE
Radiator leaking at seems causing engine to overheat. The radiators on 2024 and earlier CX-90 are failing at the seems of the radiator. This is a known issue to Mazda, hundreds of vehicles are having to be repaired for this manufacturing defect and they are charging the consumer $2800.00 to repair something which should be covered under a recall. This vehicle is a lemon and they refuse to stand behind their product.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The fuel tank pressurization systems on my 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV have failed, and the vehicle is currently available for inspection at Dolan Mazda in Reno. This defect puts the safety of myself and others at risk because the vehicle gurgles and sprays raw gasoline out of the filler neck during refueling, creating a severe fire and environmental hazard at public gas stations. The issue first appeared on March 23, 2026, during a road trip from Reno to Las Vegas, with dashboard warnings stating Fuel Tank Malfunction, Avoid Refueling, Have the vehicle inspected and Engine Malfunction. The vehicle was inspected and supposedly repaired by Jerry Seiner Mazda on March 24, 2026, but the problem recurred during the return trip from Las Vegas to Reno on March 29, 2026, when it again spit fuel at the pump. The failures consistently occurred midway through long road trips at refueling stops in Tonopah, Beatty, and Hawthorne, Nevada. During these incidents, the vehicle was completely unable to accept fuel, causing significant distress as I was nearly stranded with young children in remote desert areas with limited resources. I barely managed to reach my destination on the remaining range. Although I have documented these specific malfunction messages and safety incidents, the vehicle has been at Dolan Mazda since April 17, 2026, where the dealer and manufacturer have been unable to reproduce the issue in a stationary shop environment despite it being the second formal repair attempt for a life-threatening fuel system failure.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
The parking cameras will fail to activate unexpectedly when backing up or if the cameras are activated using the manual button. The issue is similar to what is described in Mazda Safety Recall 6223J: "Images of the front-, side-, and rear-view cameras may flicker and, in some cases, may no longer appear on the center display monitor. Improper processing logic in the view monitor camera control module may cause image deterioration. Loss of front-, side-, and rear-view camera images when in reverse and/or using the 360-degree monitor can increase the risk of a crash. There is no warning preceding the occurrence of this defect." I brought this issue to the dealer and Mazda USA but it remains a problem. The issue most recently occured on April 15, 2026, but has happened multiple times in the past.

Breaks squeal consistently only 34,000 miles was doing it when I bought it last year and they said it was just cause it was sitting and would get better never really has always squeals when breaking Steering when turning is glitchy catchy sticks like doesn't turn smooth or go back to center smooth causing you or car to jerk turn unsafe like I see recalls for these same similar things but my car doesn't currently have a recall for any of it by entering vin

In the past month or two the steering has become sticky, stiff or notchy initially occurring while completing turns on sweeping highway entrance ramps. This exact issue has now progressed to all driving conditions even when making minor steering adjustments on straight roads. I have not yet contacted the dealer or manufacturer with this concerning safety problem.

Since about 9 months ago, the steering wheel has been “pulling/tugging” when driving on a curb, even the slightest curb, specially when over 50mph. No warnings lights on, vehicle has has an alignment in the last year. And it is not a “line assist” problem. I turned that off for a while be sure. Vehicle was inspected by an authorized Mazda service provider, and they suggest changing the steering train to fix the issue. I particularly remember this issue came up after hybrid battery was replaced. Not sure if related or not. It is a huge safety issue, as when driving at high speed it is very hard to manage.

I am writing to formally report a serious safety defect regarding the steering system of my 2024 Mazda CX-90. While driving at various speeds, the steering wheel frequently exhibits a "sticking" or "binding" sensation. In several instances, the steering wheel has become momentarily stuck in a fixed position, requiring significant physical force to "break it loose" and regain control of the vehicle's direction. Safety Risk: This condition is unpredictable and creates a hazardous driving environment. The sudden resistance and the excessive effort needed to maneuver the vehicle pose a high risk of over-correction, which could lead to a lane departure or a collision. This mechanical failure compromises the fundamental ability to steer the vehicle safely. Request: I am submitting this report to ensure this issue is documented for safety investigations and to urge a review of potential defects in the steering rack or electronic power steering (EPS) calibration for this model.

The steering rack is the component that has failed. On multiple occasions while I am driving on the freeway the steering will randomly pull in the opposite direction of the turn that I am on. Or if it the pavement is uneven it will hit the bump and stick and get harder to steer or pull one way or the other. I have been in 3 near accidents at freeway speeds. I have taken it to the dealer and they say they can not replicate it so they are not fixing it or addressing my concerns. There are no warning lights and no warning when it is going to happen so I have to grip the steering wheel tightly with both hands to prevent from being pulled or pushed into and accident. It has already been recalled once for this same behaviour.

The vehicle is experiencing intermittent steering “sticking”, most noticeable during normal highway driving and minor steering corrections. The steering wheel does not always return smoothly and instead feels resistant before releasing. This condition is unexpected, repeatable, and presents a safety risk, particularly during normal lane-keeping. Especially happens during left turns or keeping in lane while going through sight left curves. Very noticiable when going through traffic circles.

We believe the evaporative emissions control system (EVAP) / fuel vapor management system on our 2024 Mazda CX-90 MHEV (inline-6 mild hybrid) is malfunctioning, releasing strong raw gasoline vapors. The strong odor occurs everywhere around the vehicle while the engine is running and immediately after shutdown and exit. The problem is intermittent. No visible liquid fuel leaks have been observed. The vehicle and related components remain available for inspection upon request. This creates a direct safety risk: the hazardous flammable gasoline vapors are strong enough to migrate from our garage into our living space (house), posing a potential fire/explosion hazard if vapors accumulate near an ignition source, as well as a health concern from prolonged inhalation for our family. Raw gasoline vapors are highly flammable and should not be present in or around a residence. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer on at least one occasion. On the third service visit (dropped off March 5, 2026), the strong raw gasoline odor was so intense upon arrival that multiple dealership personnel, including General Manager Weldon Munsey, witnessed it immediately, and one technician looked under the vehicle to check for liquid gasoline leaks. On the two prior visits, technicians were unable to replicate the issue. The local dealer has informed us that they are aware of two other CX-90s with the exact same problem occurring at the same time within their dealership network. Despite having no root cause, no fix identified, and no timeline for resolution, the dealer wants us to return the loaner and take our car home unrepaired. The vehicle was purchased new on [XXX], and currently has 39,213 miles. It has been inspected multiple times by the dealership (Roger Beasley Mazda Georgetown, repair order [XXX]).
