Since the day we purchased our new 2024 Mazda CX-5, two issues have become apparent. Firstly, there is a clicking noise emanating from the rear passenger seats behind the driver whenever the vehicle is in motion. Secondly, there is a noticeable rumbling in the drivetrain during idle or stop-and-go traffic. I have visited the Mazda showroom twice regarding the seat back noise. Together with a Mazda technician, we determined that the rear passenger seat indeed makes a clicking noise even after being properly latched. We tested several new cars on the dealer lot and found that all of them exhibit this noise. It is quite bothersome while driving, and I request Mazda's immediate attention to resolve this issue by fixing the latch bracket to securely hold the seat and eliminate the noise. The drivetrain rumbling has become increasingly noticeable as I use the car daily for work and errands. It feels like the vehicle is being shaken underneath me when stopped at a red light, stop sign, or while parked and idling. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in addressing these concerns at your earliest convenience

Excessive combustible gasoline vapors in engine compartment and in passenger compartment. Engine, available for inspection. Risk of fire/explosion because of high concentration of combustible vapors/gasoline. Yes -- confirmed by dealer (Safford Brown Mazda of Fairfax (Virginia)). No -- Notwithstanding being apprised of the problem Manufacturer has not inspected No warning signs. Manufacturer has acknowledge gasoline leaking into engine oil. Vapors were exacerbated because of a failed oil enging filler cap (probably cracked), and replacement of the same.

- #11591218May 29, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I had coplained about a long, soft brake pedal on 10 February 2024 to Hiley Fort Worth Motorcars and got a report on 13 February 2024 stated that after inspection, they could not duplicate my complaint, so they did a visual inspection and washed the car!!!! Today, 29 May 2024, I had to make an emergency stop and pressed the brake pedal to the floor! The ABS came on, but the brake pedal should never reach the floor. The other car had stopped and I swerved out of the way. No warning lights came on nor sounds. Additional information; if the brakes are applied by the adaptive cruise control, and you step on the brake pedal after the brakes have been applied automatically, the brake pedal is nice and firm, like it should be. But if there is no intervention with the car, the brake pedal is very long and soft.

I got this suv in 2023 and I kept up with oil changes and I take it in for a oil change and not even 2 days later the oil light came on so I topped it off and I go in for another oil change not even 2 days later I'm running hot so I take it back to the dealer to find out I have either a cracked head or a blown gasket??!!! There is coolant visible and mazda told me they are aware of this problem but why aren't they doing something about it bc ppl are barely making ends meet and they continue to sell these cars with these engine problems without fixing the issue...

The driver's side mirror tends to vibrate or shake more than the passenger side mirror, especially at speeds above 50-60 mph or in windy conditions. It has been a common complaint among Mazda owners for quite a while, and it seems to be a design flaw that Mazda has not yet addressed with a permanent solution.

There is a ticking sound coming from the engine, it seems like there are many issues with faulty hydraulic lash adjusters after a search online.

I love this car, but it has a bad habit, the vehicle accelerates on its own. If you take your foot off the gas, the car will intermittently lurch, almost jump forward. I’ve learned to deal with this by simply keeping a strong push on the break, but it is definitely is an issue. Another issue I’m having is the back lift gate. I’ve been told that the sensors are on each side of the gate and perhaps when drying the vehicle, I touch them😳 they run along each side of the liftgate fully visible. I have 17,000 miles on my car right now and when the lift gate opens closes it stops halfway and it beeps. I then have to push it down to close. I took it to the dealer and they say it will cost me if they have to check the sensors. This is extremely annoying to have an automatic lift gate, and I have to push it down myself.

The contact owns a 2023 Mazda CX-5. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, she entered the vehicle and noticed that the sunroof glass had exploded. The contact stated that she inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the shade guard was closed at the time of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be serviced because a rock had probably struck the sunroof. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was awaiting an email from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 16,127.

- #11584713April 23, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, POWER TRAIN, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
Slowly and cautiously entered parking lot of a small strip mall. Proceeded to a parking space located in between two parked vehicles.Maneuvering into parking space I removed foot from gas pedal toward the break pedal; before foot made contact with break pedal the vehicle accelerated on its own surging over the cement parking bumper, over bushes, through the grass, down the curb and into the street. I jammed on the breaks. Lifting foot from break pedal I did not touch the gas pedal in fear the surge might happened again. Instead I allowed the vehicle to coast as I guided vehicle to the curb. In all the commotion, while trying to control vehicle safely I noticed the dashboard transmission indicator lights flash from park to drive to neutral. Safety issues for me and family at risk because we had no control over the acceleration of the vehicle.

Oil light has come on indicating low oil. I have serviced this car through the dealership on schedule since I purchased it new. I don't believe modern cars should "lose oil" at less than 30,000 miles.

- #11583906April 18, 2024TIRES
I purchased a brand new 2023 Mazda Cx-5 on December 2022 from Daytona Mazda. The car has been great up until 34,310 miles when I noticed vibration in the steering wheel. I take the car to Sport Mazda North in Longwood Fl. They checked the brakes and rotors and tires. My brakes and rotors are fine. They stated my tires have cupping. They suggested a wheel balance to slow down the cupping process and they suggested and alignment as well. But that I would need to replace the tires if I wanted that cupping to be gone. I buy new tires and have them installed by Pep Boys because I was tired it the vibration. I have them check the alignment while I was there and the alignment came out great with all the numbers in the green. The tires still had 7/32nd left on the tires so that’s about 70% of tread left. The dealership downer warranty the tires and Yokohama won’t warranty them. They stated i needed to send the tires back. I let the rep know that ok so you wanted me to risk my safety to send those tires back to you to examine them. I let the rep know that I don’t have those tires as I had new tires put on on [XXX]. I am trying to get compensated for the new tires I had to buy because of a premature issue with the OEM tires. Cylinder head cracked resulting in engine overheating with code P111A. Gasket bolts expelled due to excessive heat and pressure. Evidence of coolant spray along hose connections, lower cover and transfer case. Smoke came out of the engine compartment first followed by warnings titled 'Critical vehicle malfunction alert' 'pull over immediately' Check engine light came up shortly thereafter. Vehicle inspected by an authorized Mazda service center, confirming the engine overheat code. This is the statement from the service representative: 'Mazda wants to start with a cylinder head prior to doing an engine'. The technician's analysis indicates they received warranty approval for Entire cylinder head and head gasket replacement and all associated parts. No warning lights prior to the failure. They started just as the engine started smoking. Potentially related information: The vehicle displayed error code for a coolant valve issue 3 weeks before this issue for which a TSB already existed and Mazda replaced the part. TSB related to cylinder head defect exists for model year 2019, but not for model year 2022.

I thought this was for a mechanical issue (not a safety issue). Check engine light came on not blinking. Was code p0126 covered in bulletin 01-005/23 - Coolant Control Valve. I'm on the Facebook CX-5 page and I see that many people have had this issue. One person had the same problem twice on the same car. I would like very much to have the correct NHTSA link to report this problem so that others may report it as well. In my case check engine light came on far from home. A local dealer said it would be safe to drive home which I did (about 180 miles). But a problem that occurs many times on a given car model perhaps should be a recall. The only charge was about $75 from the garage who read the code and diagnosed the problem. It was covered under warranty so there was no further charge to me.

-My rear differential needs replaced with just 24,000 miles on the car. I have the video from the technician at the Mazda dealership if needed. -My safety was not at risk because I took the car in at the first sign of issue. -Mazda Dealer technician has confirmed problem. -Mazda has been contacted to approve the part/fix since it is still under warranty. -No warning lamps appeared. I noticed a noise that was not something I had heard/noticed before. -I have searched many forums and this is a known/common issue with this make/model.
