Formal safety defect filing regarding critical component fluid migration on the 2008 Lexus GS 460 platform. Severe engine or transmission oil capillary forces wick fluid directly through the sealed electrical wiring harness sheath, migrating past factory gaskets and pooling inside the main transmission wire connector plug housing. This structural capillary defect completely floods the physical connector pins with fluid, creating terminal resistance variances and sudden communication drops between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and Transmission Control Unit (TCU). This is an unpreventable factory design failure that creates immediate, unpredictable vehicle 'limp-mode' power drops during highway operation, entirely independent of normal vehicle maintenance. This vehicle loss of acceleration and propulsion in live traffic creates an immediate and severe highway safety hazard.

The carbon fiber interior trim on my 2018 Lexus GS F is delaminating at three locations: left of the steering wheel, right of the steering wheel, and the center console/shifter surround. The clear coat is lifting, cracking, and separating from the substrate, and it has worsened with temperature cycling. Mileage is approximately 72,000. The parts remain installed and are available for inspection on request. Safety risk: The lifting clear coat next to the steering wheel causes glare in direct sunlight that can impair forward visibility. The separated edges are sharp and pose a cut risk to the driver's hands during normal operation. The damage is in the driver's direct field of view and is distracting while driving. Lexus has acknowledged this defect in Customer Support Program ZLZ (MC-10145765-9999), which covers certain 2016–2018 GS F vehicles built mid-July 2015 through late September 2017. My vehicle was built in January 2018 and uses the same standard carbon fiber trim. Lexus verbally denied coverage based solely on build date. I am not aware of any change to the trim material or process after September 2017. Inspection: Photos of all three locations are available. Warning signs: There were no warning lamps or messages. Symptoms began as cloudiness / small bubbles in the clear coat around 2020 and progressed to lifting and cracking. I request that NHTSA review whether the ZLZ build-date cutoff is appropriate, given that later-production 2018 GS F vehicles appear to share the same trim and failure mode.

2013 Lexus GS350, VIN [XXX], manufactured 04/2013. Mileage at repair was approximately 117,310–117,485 miles. During diagnosis for check-engine/EVAP codes, liquid gasoline was found inside the EVAP canister / Leak Detection Pump assembly. This EVAP component is intended to handle fuel vapor, and the presence of liquid fuel appears abnormal. The vehicle had multiple EVAP codes confirmed by both an independent scanner and the Lexus dealer’s Toyota TIS/Techstream system: P2401, P2402, P2419, P043E, and P043F. Park Place Lexus in [XXX] documented that the Leak Detection Pump was mechanically “stuck ON/OFF” and the Pressure Switching Valve was “stuck ON.” This appears consistent with fuel contamination or internal restriction of the EVAP canister/LDP assembly, not just a simple sensor or wiring issue. My safety concern is that liquid gasoline was present in or around an electrically actuated EVAP component located near the vehicle underbody. If fuel migrates further into the pump, connector, wiring, or surrounding area, it may create a potential fire safety risk. This component should not normally contain liquid gasoline. Park Place Lexus replaced the EVAP Emission Canister and Leak Detection Pump assembly, part #77740-30350, with 3.0 hours labor. The vehicle was dropped off XXX and ready XXX. Repair Order #1229991. After repair, the EVAP system re-test passed and the Texas emissions inspection passed. I paid $1,205.88 out of pocket; the repair was not covered by any recall or free-of-charge remedy. I have photos, videos, scan results, and the dealer repair invoice available. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA can track whether other Lexus/Toyota owners experience the same pattern of liquid fuel intrusion, mechanically stuck Leak Detection Pump / Pressure Switching Valve failure, and related EVAP codes. We were crossing under the light to go to the gas station and we believe the car that hit us ran a red light. It caused right rear damage and side airbags to deploy. There's a metal piece in the tire and its undriveable.

During highway driving speeds low pressure fuel pump is showing symptoms of issues. Car will cut off while driving and requires 12V battery reset. Low pressure fuel pump will make noise similar to a “ humming “ noise from underneath rear seats of the vehicle. Lexus corporate is refusing to perform and include my 2016 Lexus GS-F for the open recall. Lexus manufacturer recall ID : 26LB05 ; NHTSA recall ID : 26V222.

The servo motor is bad per Lexus dealership. There is a recall for this exact problem for newer models. Years 2013 - 2016 should be included. My daughter has a 2006 Lexus, and it has the exact same problem. Lexus has a problem with their HVAC systems. The air conditioning stalls when turning on and goes from cold to warm when car is is idling.

I own a 2016 Lexus GS 350 and noticed in 2018 that the dashboard had a sticky substance not realizing the dashboard of my car was indeed melting! It looks terrible! People get in my car and ask, "What happen to your dashboard?" I live in Houston, Texas where temperatures reach upper 90s even 100s which affects my visibility while driving due to the glare reflected on windshield with melting dashboard. With research it's unfortunate Lexus has not sent out recall notice on this matter. I am all too familiar with a melting dashboard of vehicle as my 2008 Toyota Camry LE had this issue. With time Toyota issued recall notices to owners and promptly resolved by dealership. I express my concern with this issue and I am very surprised that this has not become a recall for Lexus owners. This is not at all safe! It should not take a traffic accident, injury, or death (Lord, forbid) before something is to be done. I can't afford to replace a whole dashboard that should be taken care of by Lexus due to poor manufacturing. This is very much a vehicle safety hazard and appreciate attention to the matter.

The contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2013 Lexus GS 350. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle while making a right or left turn, and the steering wheel was moved all the way. The contact stated that it felt like the tires were driving over a bumpy road. In addition, the vehicle independently veered to the left while driving. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the steering wheel electronic control unit had failed. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V221000 (STEERING); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

I started my car in the morning and when I started the engine it was an instant extreme rough idle with the engine light and traction control light blinking on my dashboard and the engine cuts out on its own. I have my car at a Toyota dealership since it’s closer than the Lexus dealership and they have ran an extensive testing diagnostic on my car resulting in a valve stuck open and a valve spring fell out. I have kept up the regular maintenance on my car, like every 5,000 miles fully synthetic oil changes, premium gas, regularly checking for recalls, always checking my fluids, correct tires and tire pressure, and I have in no way misused my car since it’s the only car I have to drive. I found that Lexus had a recall on the GS 350 for the 2007 to 2011 years for the problem I’m currently dealing with. In 2012 Lexus did not make a GS 350 but 2013 they were offered again and I feel like they didn’t resolve the engine problem before putting out the new production, at least for the 2013 year. Now as my car sits I have to pay $9,200 to fix the problem and I don’t have that type of money. I would have to sell my house to pay for my car to get fixed. Luckily the car didn’t stop running while I had my family in the car. I don’t feel that I did anything wrong to make the internal engine have a valve issue. This car should still be running at 148,100 miles.

I am experiencing a persistent and potentially hazardous steering issue with my 2016 Lexus GS 350 AWD (Luxury Package). At highway speeds (typically 60 mph and above), the steering exhibits a distinct "sticky" or "notchy" sensation around the center position. Specifically, the steering wheel resists small corrective inputs when driving straight and appears to "stick" in place before releasing and allowing directional change. This results in delayed response when attempting to maintain lane position and requires greater-than-normal force to overcome the initial resistance. The condition becomes most noticeable after continuous driving at highway speeds and compromises the vehicle’s ability to respond predictably in situations requiring quick or fine steering adjustments. The issue does not trigger any warning lights or diagnostic codes, and it persists despite the installation of new tires and a professional alignment. Due to the impact this issue has on steering precision and overall highway safety, I am requesting NHTSA review this concern as a potential defect. Lexus has not issued a recall for this problem, and it poses a risk to safe vehicle operation at high speeds.

When driving at highway speeds (65mph-75mph) the steering rack in Lexus gs350 (4th generation models) will seem “sticky” on “swooping turns”. A slight jerk is the only way to get out of this sticky feeling. The steering racks have been a major issue with these cars and seem fairly frequent to malfunction. I personally think, considering safety standpoint, the steering rack should be recalled. This issue is very prevalent in many Lexus/toyota models with electronic steering racks (not just the gs350 model) This is my 3rd GS350 (2nd one with this same issue all 4th gen’s)
