I have had to replace the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter twice since owning my car. I have owned my car since 2020 and bought it at 23,000 miles. The car now has 100,000 miles - all highway. The code P0240 has displayed again and the dealership said I need to replace the catalytic converter and manifold for a third time. The car burns synthetic oil very quickly as well. Dealership has found no leaks of oil. I have to change oil every month because of how quickly the oil burns. I have conducted my own research and have found several other owners of 2019 Hyundai Tucson are having similar issues. I encourage Hyundai and its partners to initiate an investigation. This could cause detrimental damage to the engine. Something is wrong!

- #11616639September 26, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
A week ago, I was driving my 2022 Tucson Hybrid Limited on the highway on my way to work around 7:50 a.m. It was a bright day, good weather. I was in the center lane when my car suddenly braked HARD and came to a stop on the highway! My foot was still on the gas pedal, but the Automatic Emergency Braking light was on. I panicked because I had no control over what the car was doing. Thankfully, I was not rear-ended and didn't cause an accident. I put on my hazard lights, shifted into park on the highway's center lane, then back into drive and it seemed fine. There was not really any traffic in front of me that I remember, but there were some cars on either side and behind me that had to swerve around me. I don't trust this car anymore. It is going to get me or someone else killed. I took it to the dealer 2 days ago and the initial inspection didn't show any problems or error codes. They told me I could have it back since there didn't seem to be a problem or they could give me a loaner car and keep testing my car. I have a loaner. I hope they find something wrong with the car, otherwise, I am afraid of my car getting me or someone else killed. I am especially scared after reading about all the others here who have had this same issue.

- #11616748September 26, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Our 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid developed an issue with the forward radar. At speed, the car produces a warning ding and then a warning message is displayed stating, "Critical Forward Safety functions are limited. Radar blocked." If the adaptive cruise control is engaged at the time of the warning, it immediately disengages, forcing the driver to quickly respond. If there is a vehicle in the adjacent lane to the right, the automatic braking may at times activate. It happens rain or shine, in good or inclement weather. We have cleaned the areas of the sensors without effect. One dealership has evaluated the vehicle twice and a second dealership once but we have been informed that there was no defect identified. I believe this issue to be a serious safety defect.

I had multiple occasions where the car would blink lates and make screaming noises when acceleration. The vehicle never had a smooth process of stopping and going. When stopped at a light, you could press the acceleration and it idle or not speed up than rev the RMPs and start to catch speed. It was very unsafe, I tried several attempts years ago at getting the vehicle maintenanced but only got rotors repaired from shaking and two other shops stating it was a recall and they could not service or fix the vehicle.

- replaced catalytic convertor twice - Check engine light on , needs another catalytic convertor - Exhaust fumes are coming back into my car through the AC vents , I’ve had to pull over due to being nauseas and extremely dizzy. - The dealership will not answer my phone calls , but will answer another phone because I have called from another phone and they picked up immediately - Was told from a service advisor that they would not help me “ unless the car blew up “ - My car did recently ,8/8/24, shake aggressively, the check engine light flicked rapidly and a strong puff of fumes came through my car - They will not help me because they stated that my rod bearings are not rotted therefore I do not qualify for assistance and everything would come out of pocket , the engine replacement , the catalytic convertor due to me being a few thousand miles outside of my 100,000 warranty. - I have the invoice stating oil is leaking profusely out of my engine - I was told within the last 2 weeks that if my car was to actually seize , Hyundai is not responsible bc when they kept telling me to bring my car in , they kept diagnosing it so they quoted me at about $5k to fix everything.

Fuel Injector went out while I was driving to work approximately 5,000 miles later, I was driving home from work and another fuel injector went out. Both times I had to have my car towed to the dealership. They said that was a recall on fuel injector but only could fix the one that went out each time. I am nervous about the next time it goes out. Where will I be and will it be dark and unsafe. I have been a loyal Hyundai car owner. I am now thinking about not purchasing another Hyundai and selling my Tuscon. Customer service and making sure customers are placed in a safe car at all times is very important. Hyundai failed this time.

I have a cylinder misfire related to known issues with this product and any dealership affiliated with warranty work are months out, there are no backup vehicles and Hyundai will not take any action until they are diagnosed. We have no backup vehicle and my wife was almost hit. There was sudden power loss of the vehicle and it is a safety concern. No reimbursement for rentals or alternate solutions provided

The vehicle hesitates sometimes starting from stop/idle and sometimes even when the gas paddle is completely pressed it doesn’t proceed and stalls in middle of road or red light and may take more attempts to get it to move further. I read online that there was a safety recall on this same model in 2016 for this exact same problem but I never received recall on my vehicle from Hyundai.

My oil is being consumed for no apparent reason. I checked it one time and there was no oil in there. I keep checking it and adding oil. There is a recall for the issue but my vehicle is not on the recall list. I was not in a accident but the issue could cause bigger problems.

- #11615504September 19, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I was driving the car home on 8/20/24 at roughly 50 MPH, and I felt this brief bucking motion with the vehicle and a loss of power to the motor. The vehicle did not fully shut down and continued to drive, but it struggled when trying to accelerate. When I got home, I checked the Engine code through MyHyundai, which showed code P219CF0. I reached out to the dealership, leaving multiple voicemails, and after over a week of trying to get them on the phone, I went in person and scheduled an appointment for them to service the vehicle on 8/28. They were not able to see the vehicle until 9/3/24, and after talking with the service manager and reviewing my car history, they were confident it was another injector; he was ordering the parts because he said he didn't have any, and it would take a bit to get them. The car went in on 9/3 as planned, and they called to confirm that Cylinder 1 had an Air-Fuel Ratio imbalance and that the GDI Injector had failed. They had gotten in the injector but did not have the High Press Pipe needed to go along with it, and they would have the pipe in by 9/6. I'm unsure when the pipe arrived, but I called in mid-afternoon on 9/9/24, and they were wrapping up my vehicle and that it would be ready shortly. They performed the standard 34-point inspection on the vehicle and did not find further issues. I reached back out to Hyundai Motors America as I had reached out to them after my second Injector failed; at the time, they were unwilling to replace the remaining injectors proactively. I've now opened my second case with Hyundai Motors America. I am communicating through email now, and I do not believe Hyundai is willing to replace the final fuel injector proactively, even though the vehicle only has one original injector remaining, and based on the bulletin Hyundai has out, the chances are pretty good it will soon fail too.

I had gone out with my vehicle for an errand, and it was running fine. When I finished, I came back into the vehicle and started it up, and it was shaking tremendously on startup. I turned off the car, started it back on, and it started fine. I got about 300 feet from where I was going, not even ten mph, and the vehicle started shaking the same as minutes before; this time, a check engine light came on. I immediately parked it in a safe spot and called for Roadside Assistance. The dealership that serviced the vehicle informed me the DTC code was P030400, meaning the Fuel Injector for Cylinder 4 had failed. It was luckily replaced promptly. This was the second GDI Injector that had been replaced on the vehicle. Unfortunately, I was told there was a service bulletin on the problem and that the dealership was seeing a lot of this problem. I contacted Hyundai Motors America directly to try proactively to get the remaining two injectors replaced. Still, I was told that because there was no current issue with the injectors, they would be unable to provide any assistance proactively. The vehicle had 35645 miles on the motor when this incident occurred.

I was driving on the highway, and at roughly 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost power; it seemed to regain function momentarily, and then the check engine light went on, and then the vehicle shut down. The vehicle was then rolling. Thankfully I was able to throw hazards on quick enough and the vehicles around me were alert enough not to collide into my vehicle and I was able to get the vehicle over to the shoulder before the lost momentum. The vehicle was then towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. The dealership informed me that the engine produced code P030200, meaning that the fuel injector on Cylinder 2 had failed. They were able to replace it. The vehicle was at 24188 miles at the time.

The check hybrid system light came on just after I tried to accelerate from a complete stop and I had no acceleration. I had the accelerator pushed to the floor and I got no response and was not able to accelerate two different times within 5 minutes of one another. I was in traffic unable to accelerate. I took it to the dealer and they were unable to find anything wrong and told me to bring it back if it happened again.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with catalytic converter failure and sludge in the engine oil. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The catalytic converter was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer for 55 days. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the engine was not covered under warranty. The contact was informed that because the history of the oil changes was consistent with Hyundai, the engine was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Back in March 2024 I had a tow beam stock replaced to the car. Couple of months after this check engine light started coming on until it stayed on. Took SUV to mechanic shop in July 2024, and they informed of a r&r knock senor needing to be replace. A couple days after this had to go back as check engine light was back on. they informed of needing to replace a wire harness. It wasn't a week after this that when starting the car you hear a very loud knocking sound. Like something is rattling around inside. After this no longer able to drive car as not sure what will happen next.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the recent theft of my 2019 Hyundai Tucson, which I believe was exacerbated by a software update provided by Hyundai. Several months ago, I had my vehicle updated with a software patch at a Hyundai dealership, specifically intended to address vulnerabilities related to vehicle theft. However, despite the update, my vehicle was stolen on August 8, 2024, and later totaled in a crash. I have been informed by police and insurance company officials that thieves are now exploiting a method involving breaking a window and popping the ignition, as demonstrated in online videos. This method remains effective despite the software update. Adding to my frustration, Hyundai placed a sticker on my driver’s window to indicate the software update. This inadvertently advertised to thieves that my vehicle was among those with the known vulnerability, potentially making it a target.

The engine started to lose power and then completely died the engine and oil lights came on the car would restart for about 30 sec but would not move when put into drive it broke down on [XXX] extremely dangerous road road with traffic moving above 55 mph I was broke down in the center lane after I called a tow truck and placed a call to the WSP in fear of getting killed on this road this caused extreme anxiety and loss of wages due to this trauma This is the 3rd time this same vehicle broke down The first time I had it towed to the dealership in Bellingham WA where they said it was a cracked spark plug ? And charged $650 to replace still under warranty the 2nd time this vehicle broke down I towed to a certified mechanic it was a burnt valve the repair cost was $4000 and didn't appear to fix the engine knocking noise and was hesitant a short lived band side for a faulty engine that Hyundai did not include this model in class action lawsuit same engine as other recalled motors but they left this car out because they sold so many INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
