My harmonic balancer went bad after 120,000 miles causing my camshaft pully to shear off and a bolt to come loose causing me to have to replace my entire engine. I was told by my mechanic that this is a very rare occurring issue. Could this have happened because of a faulty harmonic balancer?

My car automatically braked in the middle of an intersection and caused my vehicle to be rear-ended. This was the third time automatic braking engaged when it should not have been. In the most recent incident on [XXX] I was injured and had to have medical attention. I googled automatic braking and there were many reports of automatic braking being deployed when it should not have been. 2022 to hyundai tuscon now with the third cylinder misfire due to faulty fuel injector. This can be inspected upon request. Upon second occurrence, requested all cylinders be replaced and advised could not do this under warranty. Second filing to NHTSA. This incident put myself and other drivers at risk. I was driving on a highway and the cylinder misfire occurred resulting in check engine light and vehicle going into limp mode and inability to drive more than 30-40 mph. The entire vehicle violently shakes and loses power with this misfire. In the previous occurrences , could not accelerate beyond 20 mph. I could have been rear ended or caused a serious accident on the highway as a result of Hyundai faulty fuel injectors and cylinder misfires. My vehicle has now been seen 3x for the same issue and replaced by dealer. There were no warning signs prior to the failure of the fuel injector resulting in cylinder misfire and loss of power and inability to accelerate. This is a very dangerous faulty component of this year make and model- it is a known issue. Still no recall. I have a "new" car that puts me in danger every 4-6 months when I lose power in my vehicle with no warning or cause except from faulty parts. This faulty part is going to cause serious injuries/accidents if it is not addressed.

The front passenger window regulator failed in Jan 2025. Before the complete fail, the power window was becoming sluggish when lowered/raised. I just paid $1,000 to have the dealer repair. I have seen dozens of online items regarding the identical issue. I consider it a safety issue because of easy entry to the vehicle interior and contents, including inclement weather that can damage interior electrical components

I am on my 3rd fuel injector repair in less than 2 years. asked if they could replace them all and was told they can only replace what is broken. My car was purchased brand new and still under warranty . each time the car was towed to 3 different dealers, i have not received a loaner or a rental car voucher. I have been without my car for upwards of over a week. So what exactly is the warranty good for? I have a friend who has a 2106 acura ilx and to this day when it needs to be repaired, he gets a loaner and they pick the car up from his home. This is so disappointing to have purchased a 2023 car in Dec of 2022 with 13 miles on it and have had it in the shop 3 times as of Feb 2025

-auto start/stop "feature" Since there is no way to permanently disable this feature i forgot that it was on. while stopped a stop light i was unable to move when the car behind me could not stop due to the wet roads. If the car behind me was unable to swerve in time i would have been rear-ended. by the time the engine started the car behind me was in line with my back seat. no amount of gas saving is worth being immobilized essentially in a emergency situation. - forward collision avoidance is way too sensitive, in the same trip as above a car hit their brakes approximately 6 car lengths in front of me to turn into a parking lot. the car in front of me did slam on their brakes to make the turn. As i took my foot off the gas to slow down the "safety feature" activated, applied my brakes and almost caused the car behind me to rear end me. i was going roughly 45 mph and the car behind me was roughly 2 car lengths behind me when the "safety feature" activated. the sensitivity of this system is way too high and will wind up causing more accidents then it prevents

While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson at highway speeds on a clear day with no surrounding traffic, I was startled by an extremely loud bang that sounded like an explosion. Pieces of shattered glass rained down inside the passenger cabin, creating a potentially hazardous situation. This incident was a traumatic experience. The sudden and unexpected event had the potential to cause serious injury to the driver, as well as increase the risk of a collision due to the shock and distraction it caused. Additionally, other pieces of shattered glass were propelled from the vehicle, posing a risk of injury or damage to other drivers on the road. Upon physical inspection, it was noted that the glass from the panoramic sunroof was bowed upwards, which suggests the explosion originated from within the sunroof and NOT an external factor such as road debris or a rock. The vehicle, which is less than a year old, is currently at the Hyundai dealership pending an investigation. Given the severity of the incident and the potential risks to driver and passenger safety, I strongly recommend that a recall be issued or a comprehensive investigation be initiated by the NHTSA to prevent further occurrences of such dangerous incidents. Safety must be a priority, and swift action is necessary to ensure that no other drivers or passengers are at risk of similar events.

We are writing to describe an issue we had with our 2025 Hyundai Tucson PHEV this past [XXX] day We were returning from Bellingham heading south on [XXX]. The Driver Assistance Eyes on the Road notice came on often, making beeps ([XXX] has experienced this message often even though his eyes are definitely on the road). Suddenly, it came on constantly, and then the alert in the center circle on the console turned RED and showed a message that said “Take control of your vehicle immediately. Turning engine off. Leave the road” I may not have this quote exactly right, but it’s close. All the time the loud beeping continued. [XXX] did as directed and immediately pulled over unto to the narrow shoulder on the freeway with cars racing past at 70 mph. We had no idea what was going on. He quickly determined that the car was functioning ok so pulled back out onto the highway. I was panicked, but of course [XXX] was calm and in control. He decided to take off his hat and also his glasses (doesn’t need them for driving). Still got the message but not the red alert one we had previously experienced. We stopped for gas before continuing on to the ferry and took the time off the road to access the Driver Attention function in Settings/Vehicle/Driver Assistance/Driver Attention Warning and turned it OFF. We thought that would take care of it, but it still continued to send standard alerts. Since we had waiting time in the ferry line, we searched the internet for clues to this and learned from others that this is a continuing problem. It was determined by one contributor that it is a software issue that Hyundai needs to fix. Another person said it happens when he is driving with both lane assist and cruise control on at same time. PLEASE ADVISE. Is there a solution to this problem? We were put in what we considered to be a dangerous position by an overactive "safety" feature which we could not disable. The engine entered limp mode, lost oil pressure and began knocking. Vehicle was brought to a dealer where it remained for ~1 month. The dealer inspected the vehicle, and determined it to be a valve cover leak, which does not track given the issues. When picked up from the dealer, the engine seized shortly down the road. Upon my own inspection, it was found that the engine oil drain plug was missing. It is unclear if the dealer loosened the drain plug during their inspection, or if it fell out due to some other issue. In either case, the manufacturer and their representative (dealership) created a dangerous situation for the driver of that vehicle, which had to be pushed out of moving traffic during a busy time of day.

Engine had oil consumption problem. We bought it as second owners around 89k miles. Now at 98k miles and engine has blown. It’s not going to be fixed without a replacement. We are getting the run around by Hyundai in ballwin asking us to pay 500 upfront and all kinds of pushback. We have to tow and they will look at it even though it is still under 100kmile powertrain warranty. We got 3 months use out of a vehicle we just paid 15k for. Total loss

The exhaust manifold and turbocharger assembly have cracked, causing exhaust gases—including carbon monoxide—to leak into the cabin. This issue was confirmed by diagnostic testing at Burns Hyundai. The defective component is still installed on the vehicle and has been inspected upon request, costing me over $200 without any suggested reimbursement after I already told them the problem before testing. The cracked exhaust manifold allows carbon monoxide to enter the vehicle’s interior, posing a serious risk of carbon monoxide poisoning to both the driver and passengers. Additionally, the vehicle’s engine performance has been negatively affected, which could lead to unexpected failures while driving. Yes. Burns Hyundai conducted diagnostic testing and confirmed the issue, identifying cracks in both the exhaust manifold and turbocharger assembly. Despite this confirmation, Hyundai corporate has refused to cover the repair under warranty. The vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by a Hyundai dealership service center (Burns Hyundai), and the issue has been reported to Hyundai corporate for review. No inspections have been conducted by law enforcement or insurance representatives at this time. Yes. Prior to the diagnosis, I experienced engine performance issues, including reduced power and inefficiencies, which I reported to Burlington Hyundai in 2021, when the vehicle was still under warranty. At that time, the exact cause was not properly addressed. The problem has since worsened, leading to the recent discovery of the cracked manifold. No specific dashboard warning lights were illuminated for this issue.

Sudden loss of speed for no reason. was traveling at 35 mph when vehicle suddenly dropped to 22 mph. Stepped on gas with no response. I know the 22 mph because it showed up on warning illuminator. Car behind me almost hit me because he had no indication (prior warning). Turned off at closest exit, turned vehicle off then on restart things were normal. Took to dealer and they found nothing in computer code or mechanical to explain why this happened. Am an older women afraid what will happen if repeats on highway going 70+ mph. Please made Hyundia find and fix.

Vehicle has shown signs of engine failure for the past two years, all indicating impending need for engine replacement in alignment with engine recall that was issued for vehicle (customer case # [XXX]). Vehicle has been seen for diagnostics related to this problem where both Hyundai in Fredericksburg as well as Springfield Virginia confirmed that the engine was failing. Both dealerships refused to service car (which was under full warranty) because they were prioritizing cars who had already experienced full engine failure. Dealership advised that they could do nothing per the manufacturer until the vehicle experienced full engine failure. They acknowledged that it was a safety risk to myself, passengers & other drivers. The engine has now completely failed, leaving me stranded on [XXX] in the cold winter months & having to pay to have the vehicle towed. It is apparent from my service history report that I took all due diligence in attempting to have Hyundai attend to the engine of this vehicle while under warranty and they flat out refused, citing multiple different reasons. I am requesting a safety inspector come to investigate both the dealerships, the service report history, and the vehicle itself. My legal team is at this point just waiting for me to be offered engine replacement (out of pocket per Hyundai) and once that transaction is complete we are fully prepared to file suit for negligence. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The hybrid powertrain system, transmission, or engine appears to be malfunctioning. The vehicle hesitates or stalls when pressing the gas, losing power as if it doesn’t recognize when to transition between EV and gas mode. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The issue caused the vehicle to lose power unexpectedly, particularly while driving at highway speeds, which forced me to pull over multiple times for safety reasons. This happened on [XXX] before the [XXX] Tunnel, creating a hazardous situation in heavy traffic. If the vehicle stalled at the wrong moment—such as in an intersection or while merging—it could significantly increase the risk of a crash. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. I have taken the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership, but no official errors or diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been detected. The dealership has not confirmed the issue unless I agree to high-cost diagnostics that may not guarantee a resolution. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been looked at by a Hyundai dealership, but no official findings or resolutions have been provided. The issue persists, and no recall or technical service bulletin (TSB) has been mentioned to me as a possible cause. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights, error messages, or dashboard alerts appeared before or during the power loss. The issue first started occurring at approximately 35,000–40,000 miles and has continued to around 50,000 miles. The first time I noticed the problem was during a long-distance drive from Los Angeles to CO INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5

- #11640189February 2, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving approximately 75 mph in the passing lane on highway, the vehicle suddenly automatically brake. Pulled back into the right lane and didn't really understand what happened. Next time i pulled out to pass and had a car on my right hand side it did the same thing. Pulled back into right hand lane and stayed there for quite some time. I then turned off the all around sensor @ and it didnt do it again but as i got closer to home the warning light came on and a message popped up. It now has the triangle caution sign on and the picture of car icon in amber. I had driven the car from my home for about 50 miles and parked car for two hours, the drove back toward home for about 20 miles when the event happened. It was dangerous and makes not want to use any of the "assist system's" going forward. I plan to wash the car today to see if the lights will go off- if they don't then i shall call dealer on Monday. This occurred on saturday. Ill be washing car today (sunday). If i had anyone driving closely behind me, i for sure would have been rear ended.
