I own two Hyundai tucsons. I am very concerned about the rise of thefts and the economic damages that this vehicle has caused our nation. Close to home. I have seen my auto insurance increase with each renewal (every 6 months) by $200. So I am paying $400 more a year for the last 2 years which is an $800 increase because I own a Hyundai Tucson and the insure is taking additional precautions due to the safety and economic risk that me owning a Hyundai Tucson has. I am urging the NHTSA to hold Hyundai accountable. It's not just the fast. It's not just deaths. It's not just damage of property and the progress of crimes of stealing a Hyundai. It's all the other innocent people who are paying hundreds if not thousands of dollars more annually because a manufacturer put out a poor product. In 2023 we have now gone through a pandemic. We've gone through inflation and other numerous occurrences such as gas, eggs and milk which have dramatically increased in price because of other outside factors. Having another issue affect innocent families at no fault of their own creates a devastating result for those just trying to keep their head above water and now making a decision of food or other necessities so that they can pay inflated insurance because a company has put out a poor product that has resulted in crime and harm coming to people. Hyundai has had months to issue a recall and to do the right thing. It's clear some intervention is necessary at this point to protect the American consumer.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, a fuel odor was detected while driving. The vehicle was able to be restarted, and the contact drove to a nearby gas station to park the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the dealer had previously replaced two fuel injectors due to water in the fuel tank. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while his daughter was driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering. The check engine warning light and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact’s daughter veered to the side of the roadway. The contact stated that he met his daughter on the side of the roadway and attempted to restart the vehicle several times; however, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine had seized. The mechanic referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,689.

Back in december, 2022 my car was doing a shocking change of speed all of a sudden, for example I would be driving and accelerating, but the car would not speed above 40mph, and while I was still pressing on the accelerator, it would do like a shocking movement and accelerate all of sudden. At that time, the car had just stopped accelerating above 20mph which almost got me into an accident on the highway. I took the car to the Hyundai and they said that the engine was fine and had passed all tests, that only the sensor needed to be changed. I paid for the repair, but since I got my car back this is still happening, and I almost got into an accident again in the highway. I was just entering into the highway and when I pressed the gas pedal to change lane the car just blocked it did am abrupt movement trying to change speed, it didnt increase the speed, the car behind me was coming fast and beeping because it seemed like my car was coming to a full stop instead of speeding, but all of a sudden the car again did an abrupt change of speed and started increasing up to 60mph, but in order for this to happen, I had to release and press again. It is not the first time, I have tried contacting the service center to inform them that the car is acting the same way, the only difference is that now it doesn't stay at 20mph, this time it does speed after a few tries, but very abruptly

So my engine has a lawsuit with Hyundai because the type of engine that is in it is causing it to consume more oil. My cylinder one has completely gone out because of it consuming to much oil. It is a huge safety problem because it could have shut off while I was driving it. Hyundai dealership is trying their best to not to have to pay for it. My check engine light came on and said spark plugs and coils needed to be changed. We changed them and they were coated in oil which isn't supposed to happen. My light was still on after changing them and the code reader was saying cylinder 1 misfire. I take it to the dealership and they said cylinder one has gone out. I think they dismissed it because the coils and plus were clean but we just changed them and maybe drove 10 miles so they wouldn't have had a chance to get coated in oil. I hope I don't have to get a lawyer to get my car fixed under the lawsuit like it needs to be. I know a few other people having the same problem and theirs is getting covered under the same lawsuit.

on 04/16/23 I got into my car and Immediately after going into drive the brakes completely failed. The car continued accelerating even after releasing the accelerator and refused to stop even while pumping the brakes. Thank god I turned into a tree and missed pedestrians. the car was totaled.

Driving on highway long distance on sunny days the radar becomes blocked disabling critical forward safety functions and cruise control. Numerous times this has caused a near collision due to the automobile malfunctioning. Many times my cruise control has just stopped working and my vehicle has rapidly decreasing speed, causing people behind me to have to slam on their brakes. My vehicle has also automatically braked on the highway when there was no one in front of me. these are just two incidences that have nearly resulted in collisions on the highway. This has been occurring since I purchased the vehicle in September 2022. Unfortunately, dealership has not been able to duplicate what has occurred.

Upon acceleration onto highway or up a hill the car at times will rev and not shift or move /increase speed. Getting onto the highway I have had to pull into the shoulder until vehicle snaps out of it and decides to shift. Extremely dangerous & happening more often than not now.

March 6, 2023 the check engine came on and I came out of pocket $900 for new Ignition coils.. A month later, the engine starts knocking and now they're saying that the engine is completely bad and would have to replace it. The engine burned alot of oil in that time. I was getting oil changes before the oil change mileage mark. I'm stuck at this moment because there is no recall for the engine for my vin.

On 4/8/2023 I began hearing a ticking noise coming from my engine while driving. I took my car into Sid Dillon Hyundai Dealership of Lincoln NE on 4/10 and picked it up on 4/11. They completed 2 recalls (valve cap replace and ABS kit replace) and an inspection on the engine. The recalls did not fix the issue. They determined that the cylinder 3 rod bearing has excessive clearance of .37 MM. They advised that the vehicle should not be driven as it could lock up at any time. They found that the engine needs a replacement. I was quoted $13,000 for a new engine replacement. They let me know that there has been extended warranted for this exact issue on the 2.0 and 2.4 engine. However, my vehicle has the 1.6 engine which was not included in the extended warranty although it has the same issue.

Both rear doors are now non-working as the remote and the manual lock will not open the doors. The driver's side door broke first about two months ago and just this week the other rear door is not unlocking just as the other door did. Fortunately, this did not happen when I had my one and two year old grandsons in my car. My car is unfortunately out of warranty so now I have to pay big bucks for the dealership to repair this issue. As I've researched in the Hyundai Tuscon forums this fix by the dealership is often temporary and needs to be repaired multiple times as they continue to replace the part necessary with the same part that breaks down. I've got less than 70,000 miles on my vehicle. If this is not a safety issue, I'm not sure what is.
