The contact owns a 2021 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the main engine bearings and connecting rods had failed. The contact was advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 143,000.

Recently , I stated seeing CMBC failure in my 2021 Honda Pilot 2wd. My car has 41500 miles in it. I took car to dealer ship and dealer ship says they are no recalls i need to change my camera. i am not understanding it's like brand new car and not driven many miles. i research on google and there are so many pilot owners having same problems. Can this be recall?

POWER TRAIN
I am writing to report a persistent powertrain issue with my 2016 Honda Pilot, specifically regarding hard shifting between first and second gear when accelerating from a stop. Honda has acknowledged this issue and released an ECU software update intended to resolve it; however, in my case, as well as for many other owners who have reported similar concerns, the update did not effectively correct the problem. My vehicle currently has 76,000 miles, and despite Honda’s attempted fix, the hard shifting continues to impact performance and drivability. Given the widespread nature of this complaint, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter further and take appropriate action to ensure a proper resolution. ENGINE
Connecting rod bearing failure at 118,000 miles. Followed all recommended Honda service schedules at authorized Honda dealerships. Need to replace crankshaft, main bearings, #2 cylinder connecting rod and connecting rod bearings and all related gaskets, o-rings, seals, etc. Could have been major safety issue if I was driving when the engine failed. Vehicle is at a Honda dealership and Honda corporate told me, sorry, but out of warranty. Worse customer service experience in my lifetime. No vehicle regardless of manufacturer and regular servicing should require this type of repair, ever at this mileage. There is a manufacturing defect since model years on both sides of the 2017 model are currently involved with engine recalls per the information below. Quite the coincidence that my Pilot experienced the exact same failure. No warning lights became illuminated. Engine and engine cooling: Engine: Hard parts internal/mechanical Recall date 2023-11-12 Recall no. 23V751000 Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2016 and 2018-2019 Pilot, 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline, and 2018-2019 Odyssey vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the connecting rod bearing in the engine may wear and seize, damaging the engine.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Backup camera is distorted and has purple and green colors throughout the screen. Also the information screen routinely indicates a Tuner failure, followed by popping sounds from the radio. Took vehicle to Honda dealer who advised that many 2019 Honda Pilots are coming in with same issue. However, the vehicles with the vehicles with the same first 7 charscters in the VIN were NOT included in the recall for some reason. This oversight by Honda, to exclude these particular Honda Pilots, places an increased safety risk for the owners, as well as an undue financial burden. In reviewing the complaints posted on this site, 2019 Honda Pilot owners have been complaining about these issues for 2-3 years without any resolution from Honda. It is clear that Honda has been aware of this issue for several years. It would be great if the NHTSA would require Honda to do the right thing by acknowledging their oversight (excluding these vehicles from the recall), and have the backup camera and tuners repaired before a serious accident/injury occurs.

At times, when I attempt to accelerate, the fuel pump malfunctions, causing the vehicle to stall. This has almost caused accidents in the middle of intersections on multiple locations. When I attempt to cross intersections with other cars, my car is almost hit when it suddenly stops. The car has been inspected by a Mossy Honda of Lemon Grove and the fuel pump problem has been confirmed. There are no warnings or indications that this will happen. It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen every day. I am available at any time for an inspection.

Case 11655023 Hello, I need your help. I spoke with Honda and was told they would buy back my truck and someone would contact me. Mrs. Briana called and said I had to keep taking the truck to the mechanic as many times as needed. I explained I had already taken it 8–9 times, but she said it didn’t matter and that I should take it to another dealer. I had already gone to the Mission Valley dealership, showed the mechanic photos and videos, and he agreed something was wrong. I left the truck for 3–4 days, but they only changed the start button. I asked about the brakes, which were making noise, and was told it was “normal.” I insisted on getting them fixed, but they said if parts weren’t broken, Honda wouldn’t replace them. I spoke to the manager, who drove the truck with me and said they would adjust the brakes and fix the faulty fuel sensor. I brought it back on Wednesday, received a service receipt, but when I tried to leave, the truck wouldn’t start. I showed the manager a video of the issue, and he said they would fix it. I returned on Wednesday, left the truck again, and on Thursday a worker called saying the truck had no issues. I reminded them the manager had promised repairs, and they said he would call me. On Friday, I was told the truck had “bad luck,” nothing was wrong, and I should pick it up — or go to another Honda if I wasn’t satisfied.

The "start/stop" function has always been an issue and also the response to acceleration. Luckily the start/stop failed at the mailbox in front of our home. The car shut off just like at a light but instead of picking back up upon acceleration, it completely died. We have had it shutter and slowly pick up in an intersection before but we have learned to really over exert the acceleration to complensate. We have had the fuel pump recalled but i dont think it fixed our problem. Luckily nobody has been hurt yet, but this is my wife and eight year old daugthers car. We have had multiple warning lamps "fixed" in the past, but there are currently no indicators on the dash.

I was driving in the interstate today. Car started knocking really hard and shuts off. Dealership replaced fuel injectors. 2 weeks later car started knocking. Dealership said I need a new engine as they found metal shavings in the oil.
