The auto stop - start when idle shuts off the vehicle and then does not auto start when lifting off the brake. This has happened 3 times on the road and is incredibly dangerous as you are left immobile until you are able to wait and restart the engine manually

When i stepped on the gas after starting the car, my car suddenly accelerated and there this 25 mph warning popped up in my dashboard. After stepping my brake the car slowed down but I can still see the 25 mph on the dashboard.

“Camera system failure” Backup camera failing to operate when in reverse. Recall not showing for our vehicle even though recall shows its for the 2019+ models. Online talk points to a camera issue and not a wiring one.

[XXX] an Error Code "Emissions System Problem" came up. We brought to personal mechanic error code P0430 came up when they attached the code reader to the underside of the dashboard. Our mechanic told us we had to bring to Honda. Brought to Millenium Honda in NY, no code was in "system", they told us about recalls and fixed the recalls. We took the car on vacation and the light came on again while driving from NY to SC. Brought to Honda dealership to have looked at, code was off. Vehicle Mileage - 87,200 In February I had the Fuel Pump recall completed after over a year of waiting for the parts to come to the Honda Dealer. I first noticed the recall being issued when I received my notice to renew my registration. Then, I received an official notice from Honda a few months later in the mail. I sent an online appointment form around that time and Bobbi at Honda told me that they did not have the parts and I should wait to check again in a few months as it was impossible for them to get the parts in. So I did - I periodically would call her directly in the service department to check and they still did not have it. FINALLY they got the parts in, and she let me know I could schedule to have the recall fixed. I came in about a week later in early February and had it fixed. Since then I've had issues with my emissions system light turning on randomly - usually whenever there was significant changes in the weather - very hot/much cooler. I just took it into the dealership on 8/4/25 because the light the last few days had stayed on. The dealership told me they needed to check the fuel pump for sure because when I explained the situation to them, it very well could be related to the recall being fixed. They informed me they ran several tests and discovered that I need to replace my catalytic converter. It is clear at this mileage on my Honda Pilot and the delays in having the fuel pump recall fixed caused the damage to the catalytic converter. I spent almost an entire year calling the dealership every few months to see if they had the parts in to fix the fuel pump recall, I was told that they did not have the parts in stock and that there was a significant backlog in getting the parts, that it was out of the dealership's hands and that they would let me know when the parts were in stock. After over a year of driving with a defective fuel pump that Honda knew was faulty without any advice received about potential secondary damage.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from underneath the hood, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and the vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic and was diagnosed it with a blown engine bearing. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a connecting rod bearing failure. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was deemed unrepairable due to the mileage. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

My 2023 Honda Pilot has had persistent issues with the steering system since it was purchased new. The problems manifest as knocking noises in the steering column, although no warning lights appear. The Honda dealer has replaced the steering rack three times. A rattling noise is now occurring in the steering column, and the dealer is advising replacement of the steering column. The dealer was in contact with Honda engineering each time to solicit advice and obtain approval for the repairs. The replaced parts are not available for inspection, and only the Honda dealer has inspected the vehicle. I am concerned for my safety. I am afraid that the steering will fail while I am driving at highway speeds and cause an accident. I contacted Honda corporate, and they essentially told me there is nothing they can do because the vehicle is considered “fixed” after each repair.

Honda has a 2 TSBs for all Pilots on all VINs having a transmission juddering issue. They are making us pay out of pocket for a known issue on all 2017 VINs. I was quoted a minimum of $700 due to the labor involved. We, as customers, shouldn't have to pay for a known issue with all VINs of 2017 Honda Pilots. It caused issues with cruise control and keeping speed on the road especially uphill. Sometimes it will shift extremely hard. It happens at all speeds when partially on the accelerator. It has been reproduced at Honda dealerships but they will not fix it unless the vehicle produces a code. I fear driving this in the wintertime with the pulsating accelerations possibly causing me to slide. It is unknown if the manufacturer has looked at this actual park on this vehicle. But they do know about it on all 2017 Honda Pilots. There is no warning prior to failure and it appeared over a year ago.

On the afternoon of Friday, August 29, 2025 while driving the Honda Pilot on a US Highway, the "Check Engine" light came on and the vehicle immediately experience a decrease in speed. Top speed on the highway suddenly became approximately 25 MPH and the Pilot became sluggish and was shaking. We had to drive with the vehicle's "flashing hazard lights" on due to the low speed on the 55 MPH highway speeds. Multiple alerts appeared on the vehicle information display panel. I was just able to get the vehicle home. Due to the Labor Day Holiday, we were not able to get the vehicle scheduled to go into the shop until the Tuesday following the Monday Labor Day holiday. It was very difficult to get the Pilot to start on the Monday "Labor Day" to drive to the automobile shop for them to look at it the next morning (Tuesday, September 02, 2025). Once it did start, it again displayed multiple alerts on the vehicle information display panel behind the steering wheel. Speed was again limited to a maximum of 25 MPH. While driving to the shop (less than 5 miles away), the engine stopped completely and the car shifted out of the "Drive" mode and switched into Neutral without any action of the driver to do so. We had to coast into a nearby parking lot to get the vehicle out of the active city road. All attempts to restart the vehicle in the lot failed. We had to call for a tow truck with a flat bed to take the AWD Pilot to the local shop. While in the shop the codes were diagnosed by the attached "Full Diagnostic Report" via "TOPDON". The shop owner called us saying that the fuel pump had failed and that there was an active NHTSA recall for this issue with Pilots. We called the local Honda Service Department and they stated that our VIN number was outside of the current recall for the same Fuel Pump issue. We feel that the VIN coverage for the already Active Recall for the Honda Pilots should be expanded to include our VIN for the same reasons as the Active Recall.

Multiply communication failures with the CAN Communication failures found across ECM/PCM/TCM and sensor issues with ADAS components. The vehicle had a surge acceleration after a stop sign and when the auto start stop engaged the vehicle surged forward and, in an effort, to control the vehicle side swiped another vehicle before crashing into a home. Engine was still surging after multiple efforts to stop the engine surge. The engine stopped the surge after hitting the park button multiple times. NO warning lights or sounds and no air bags deployed. The vehicle has been repaired by a body shop and inspected by the manufacturer.

AFTER I had the softwear update! When idle at stoplight, auto idle feature kicked on. When light turn green and I pushed gas, car shut off entirely. This happened on multiple occasions. While waiting for an appointment to get this issue looked at, my car failed to start after being parked. It would not start after a jump from another vehicle. The tow truck driver was able to bet it jumped using a battery pack case. At the dealership, battery failed load test. Waiting to see if starter needs to be replaced and valves adjusted under extended warranty.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was parked at the place of employment for several hours. After parking the vehicle at the workplace for several hours, the contact resumed driving at an undisclosed speed, and the abnormal knocking sounds from the engine compartment returned before the vehicle stalled at an intersection. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed, and determined that connecting rod bearing failure caused engine failure and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.

The 'infotainment system; which in includes the navigation system and backup camera and sensors suddenly goes black. I may first get a black screen with "network Communications lost" message, then it goes black or get a message that says "unfortunately, com.honda.tuner has stopped". It started happening after I had to replace the batter. This was the 2nd replacement battery I've had to install. I had the battery replaced in March, 2025 at my honda dealer, and before I even got home I started getting the messages. Sometimes, the infotainment system may come back, other times, it does not come back. If I pull over, shut the car down, wait a few mintues, open the door and then close the door, it may come back when I start the car up again. I took it to the dealer - they could not figure out the problem and said that maybe replacing the tuner for 1600 would help, but they would not guarantee it. I've contact American Honda and lodged a complaint in June 2025 but so far it has not even been assigned to a manager.

Passenger got out of front passenger side door and the door bounced back and gashed his right calf, resulting in significant bleeding and requiring 9 stitches. The door can be inspected if needed, but this is a design issue, not an issue specific to my vehicle. I have looked at the other front door and another Honda of this model type and it has the same issue, a metal edge. This issue appears numerous times on Piloteers.org (Front Doors, Lower Edges). I contacted Honda and reported the incident with a request for a quick repair and medical costs for the injured passenger. I filed the report 10 days ago and followed up with Honda several times with a request to have the case expediated, but have yet to hear back from Honda. I am worried that another passenger or the driver could be similarly injured.
