The contact owns a 2025 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while reversing, the automatic emergency brake unexpectedly engaged. The check engine, ABS, and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The transmission failed to shift into the intended gear. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to shift into the intended gear. Additionally, the transmission jerked while accelerating, the RPM failed to increase while accelerating. The contact stated that the doors failed to open immediately after pressing the fob key, and the infotainment screen was flashing. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the message was constantly displayed. The dealer was notified of the failure and forwarded an email with an estimate for a diagnostic test and the repair. The 3.5L V6 engine in this vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic internal mechanical failure due to premature connecting rod bearing wear. The engine stalling occurred abruptly while actively driving, which created an immediate safety risk as the vehicle lost propulsion, power steering assistance, and power braking assistance. This forced a dangerous emergency maneuver to navigate through moving traffic to get to the side of the road. Prior to the engine failure, there were no persistent dashboard warning lights or clear messages indicating an imminent mechanical failure. The first distinct symptom was a brief, sudden metallic knocking sound from the engine bay immediately before the vehicle lost all power and stalled. An authorized dealership has since inspected the vehicle and dropped the oil pan, physically confirming a massive accumulation of metal shavings and bearing debris inside the block. The dealership verified that the complete destruction of the engine block is identical in nature, symptom, and cause to the manufacturing defects described in NHTSA Recall Campaign 23V-751. However, this vehicle's specific VIN was excluded from that original recall parameter. This catastrophic failure directly corresponds to the ongoing Office of Defects Investigation Probe PE25008 regarding extensive V6 engine rod bearing failures. The failed engine block remains fully intact at the service center and is available for regulatory inspection upon request.

While driving at night, the 2016 Pilot, it started making a loud rattling noise then just died in the middle of the road and failed to start. There were no service or check engine lights on at the time of failure or at any point prior to the failure. We were stranded in the middle of the road at risk of getting hit by other cars. The electronic transmission would not go into neutral and we had no way of even pushing the car to the safety of shoulder. We had to tow the vehicle. The tow driver also had a very difficult time of getting the car into neutral, necessary to tow it. Having the vehicle towed to a local mechanic, they reported it being very difficult to start and when it did, it had a sever engine skip with a loud rattling noise which is indicative of a connecting rod/bearing failure. The car has 140000 miles at time of failure. We had ALL required maintenance performed as they were scheduled. Approximately 95% was performed by Honda dealers. In fact we had a Honda dealer perform an oil change and inspection a week before the engine failure. We have had some local shops perform several required oil changes and the timing belt / plug service. We have all receipts. We contacted Honda dealership who quoted $18,225 for an engine replacement. We contacted Honda Customer Support who refused to offer any assistance, goodwill or other forms of reimbursement.

While driving, there was a loud noise came from the engine. I immediately pulled over onto the shoulder as I was unable to continue driving. Every time I accelerated, the car with jerk forward and posed an extreme danger for both the the passengers and others on the road. There were numerous error messages appearing on my dashboard, and the loud noise persisted. The local dealer found that there was an issue with the engine and needs engine replacement. I contacted manufacturer HONDA and they not willing to help me as my 6.3 year vehicle is out of 5 year warranty.

While operating with the Auto Shut Off enabled, vehicle stalled. Warning lights came on directing the driver to put into Park. Vehicle would not turn off/on, could not take out of park. At the time, vehicle was in bumper to bumper traffic in a construction zone causing a very dangerous situation for the driver. Vehicle was towed and 10 minutes after the incident, the vehicle could be restarted. This is the second time this has happened in the last 9 months. Unfortunately the first was not reported. This is completely unacceptable. Honda knows this is an issue and refuses to address it.

The fuel injectors have been diagnosed by my local dealership with all the appropriate codes referencing the following extended warranty bulletin issued by Honda for the repair of all 6 fuel injectors and related parts to be installed free of charge. Honda issued a warranty extension for the 2019 Honda Pilot fuel injectors under Service Bulletin 20-100. Warranty Coverage Details Expiration Point: The warranty is extended to 10 years from the original date of purchase or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Condition: The vehicle must display a Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) with specific stored fuel-system error codes (such as P0300 through P0306, P0420, P0430, P219A, or P219B). How to Get Coverage or File a Claim 1. If Your Vehicle Needs Repair Now Take your vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership. They will scan the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). If the codes match the service bulletin criteria, the dealer will replace the fuel injectors for free. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Honda Automobile Customer Service P.O. Box 2964 Torrance, CA 90509-2964 I meet all the requirements for the warranty work to be provided for free as the fuel injectors are a defective part as manufactured and my vehicle is at 125,000 miles under the 10 year 150k condition. However Hinderer Honda, Heath Ohio stated my vehicle isnt covered even though its the same as covered by Honda extended warranty. The parts kit for repair is $479.00 dollars and labor quoted was $895.00. I simply cant afford this vital repair as its also causing safety issues and business loss as a delivery and rishare driver. I ask that you approve the warranty repairs to be provided to Hinderer Honda ASAP please. Fuel started to pour from under the vehicle above the gas tank. The seal on the fuel pump was causing this when the vehicle was turned on. The fuel pump was on recall for this failure and the vehicle was towed to the Honda AutoNation Dealership in Mobile, AL. While there the franchise dealership executed Safety Recall 21-034 on my 2019 Honda Pilot; the fuel pump. The technician then sent us a video saying the fuel pump did not fix the problem as a rodent had chewed through the fuel line near the fuel pump above the gas tank. He did not show an image of this damage nor produce evidence of rodents. During the repair, the technician mechanically damaged the high-pressure fuel line. The line subsequently continues to leak gas under pressure, creating an immediate engine fire hazard. The dealer then falsified paperwork blaming rodents to escape liability. This is evident by the crescent shaped slice through the fuel line. I have video proof showing the difference in fuel leaks from the pump and then from the sliced fuel line.

This is the major safety issue while driving with my family on a highway. Keyless control unit is failing when car stops. While on a highway, all the lights on the dashboard start flickering, alarm went off brake system got locked. I need to pull over, stop the car and restart the car again. The flickering dashboard problem persisted the whole day and alarm went off intermittently till it drained the battery. Problem is reproducible.

I took my car in for an oil change into the dealership on 5/22. I was told that the timing belt would need to be replaced once I hit 100K miles. Two weeks later, I noticed my car rattling, I scheduled an appointment for Monday (the earliest I could get it into the dealer), on Saturday, the car wouldn't accelerate past 64mph, as I was getting on the highway, I pressed the gas and got it to 70mph. The engine light kicked on and the car started talking to me that the car was overheating and that I needed to pull over for 10-15 minutes. I did so and when I tried to start it, nothing happened. I then jumped it, got it started and it wouldn't accelerate past 12mph. I turned it off and had it towed to Honda. There, the mechanic told me that the rod had broken in the engine. I asked if it was the timing belt and he said "No, unfortunately, there is nothing you could've done to prevent this". To answer your questions: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request?- The engine How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk?- Yes, I was on the HWY with kids Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?- Dealer Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others?- I reached out to the manufacturer and was told they're not mechanics. It was towed to the Honda Dealership where I bought it. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear?- No. I noticed the rattling, scheduled and appointment and two days later the engine light came on as I previously stated.

STEERING
2024 Honda Pilot steering rack problem In December 2023, we purchased a brand-new Honda Pilot Touring. As of today, June 25, 2026 our Honda Pilot will receive from a certified Honda Dealer Repair section it’s third 3rd, yes, third steering rack and pinion. First time back to the dealer, they used special grease and grease it. This did nothing, to stop the creaking and cracking as you turn the steering wheel. This issue continued as you drove the vehicle. Second time back a week later, the Honda Technician replace the steering rack. We had to wait for the new rack to arrive, no stock. Now our new vehicle has the original replaced with a second steering rack. Now 10 months later, with a total of 15,670 miles on our vehicle the steering rack and pinion is once again creaking and cracking. Back to the dealer. Our dealer notified Honda Corporate Tech Center for direction in this matter. Once again, our dealer is to replace the defective steering rack. Currently our dealer is waiting for the new steering rack to arrive. I understand Honda has a huge issue on many vehicle types, Pilots, Passports, and CRV’s that this same steering rack is defective in huge quantities. I am worried that driving at speed on the interstate highway that this steering rack may seize up and cause an accident by not allowing us to turn the steering wheel.
