The contact owns a 2005 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at various speeds on several occasions, there was a cranking sound coming from underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that several unknown components needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the shocks, control arms, drive train and other unknown components needed to be replaced. The contact referenced the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure); however, neither the VIN nor the year, make, or model was included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 149,000.

SUSPENSION
My Honda pilot has rust on one of the subframe mounts causing it to come loose from body. Honda issued a technical service bulletin about it for an investigation from nhtsa. But, the dealer is acting like there is no such thing with the known issue and repair kit they made to fix the issue. I will attach the service bulletin below to about the issue of what Honda put out supposedly to fix the problem. They keep saying this bulletin does not exist for my vehicle but the bulletin states all years not VIN specific.

While waiting at a busy intersection, waiting to turn left, the idle stop malfunctioned and the engine would not restart. I was left in the middle of a busy intersection with my son in the car. After 20 minutes I finally disconnected and reconnected the battery in order to get the car out of the intersection. I have had this problem for the past 4 years and have been given different possible solutions over the years. They've told me it was a software problem, then they told me I should stop connecting my phone to the car, then I was told I needed a new battery. Obviously none of those "fixes" have worked. I have an appointment later this week to address this latest incident. There were no warning messages before the failure but now there is a "remote starter" warning, the heat and A/C no longer turn on and my seats no longer move.

At least 7 months ago my back up camera started malfunctioning. When starting car first time of the day the screen would blink, fuzzy, blue, the go to black and last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. One time I went to garage and opened passenger door without vehicle on and the camera /radio lit up.?? It did go off. I saw there was a recall but unfortunately not for my VIN. have had it to dealer twice and they found nothing diagnostic and the car was warmed up so the camera/radio area was working..Help!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
My wife was driving the car with our six-year old son. She stopped at a red light. The engine turned off from the auto-stop function (which we find annoying but cannot be permanently disabled) and the car would not restart. The warning lights were going crazy. The battery was so dead that the car could not even be jumped. There was no warning whatsoever. It was an extremely dangerous situation as the car died in the middle of a busy street. Thankfully it was close to home and I was able to come and take over. until help arrived The police had to come and divert traffic. People were honking and threatening me while I waited for the tow truck. When the two truck arrived, we could not get the car into neutral to move it out of the street because the gear shifting required the engine to start. It was an extremely dangerous situation and I shudder to think what could have happened had this occurred on a busier road. I have videos of the incident that I can share if helpful (wont let me upload on website). Honda replaced the battery and basically shrugged.

Good afternoon, I would like to bring an issue to your attention and file a complaint on Honda Motor Company. Last week, I scheduled an appointment in the Service Department at Russell and Smith Honda to diagnose my 2018 Honda Pilot. My vehicle jerks when driving at a low speed. Russell and Smith diagnosis was a transmission oil flush and a system update with "recommendations to replace the battery and spark plugs" ; total charges to fix the problem was roughly $365 additional to the $110 that I paid for the diagnosis. That same day, I picked up my vehicle from Russell and Smith Honda and refused to pay because its a 2018 truck that I shouldn't be dealing with a transmission problem. As I was driving the truck back home, it started to turn off automatically and an engine light alert would turn on. The truck would start working after turning it back on. Two days after, I took it back to Russell and Smith Honda and advised them of the truck shutting down and I was notified to pay another $100 for a diagnosis which I refused to pay since it was recently diagnosed two days ago. This is putting my life at risk on the streets. The employee who assisted me went inside to ask a mechanic on duty and came back to notify me that I do need to pay for another diagnosis to determine whats wrong. I refused to pay and left the dealership. I called Honda Motor Company on 4/10/23 to advise them of the problem and they created a case #13752705 to further investigate and I advised them if not I will report it to NHTSA. Honda Motor Company requested a copy of the diagnosis and when I called them for an update, the case worker assigned to my case Samir stated they agreed to pay for the transmission flush and system update and they have notified Russell and Smith Honda. The next day I called Russell and Smith Honda to advise them that I will drop off the truck according to Honda Motor Company and they said I need to pay for the recommendations listed on the diagnosis first. Unusual amount of oil consumption. Faulty cylinder 3. Gaskets cause the oil to leak into the spark plugs causing the engine light to come on with loss of power. Changed cylinder 3 spark plug at least 10 times or more since purchasing the vehicle in 2021. Oil also drips onto the alternator, replaced it twice in 9 months. Wheels and steering wheel shake when hitting the brakes. Replaced brakes and rotors twice as well.

Unless I remember to disable "Auto engine idle stop" my car will die at a light or any place I'm stopped. A bunch of random lights or warnings flash across the dashboard , brake won't push in, and I am unable to put it in neutral for my vehicle to be moved off the road or interstate. I have had cops park behind my completely dead vehicle stating "I just want to make sure the other cars on the road stay off your back so you don't get hit" all while we figure out why we can't even put it in neutral just to move it. We then have to jump-start it to get it moving again with no promises it will either start or stay on once started. Because this has happened multiple times, my vehicle has now been having issues starting at random, once happening the afternoon of 4/16/2023 after it wasn't driven the day before. My battery and alternator have both been checked and are excellent condition.

The drive side power seat will not raise above a certain height, and compromises a shorter drivers visibility and proper driving potion (someone under ~5'"6'). This is a know problem caused by a part failure and is documented in Honda Service Bulletin 18-034 (Clicking from the Driver's Power Seat While using the Height or Tilt). As a result of Service Bulletin 18-034, this voids the extended warranty that was purchased with the vehicle and Honda USA will not cover the repair as it is out of original warranty. This is a safety concern as stated above and the need to place a cushion under the drive to raise their height puts the seatbelt at an unsafe position. The cost of repair is excessive at $2,400 but regardless of cost this is a known problem and a safety concern for both driving and in a crash.

According to a Honda dealership, a bracket holding the exhaust pipe under the car snapped and caused the pipe to then lay on the bumper, which melted the bumper. They said there was nothing they could do. This is a manufacturer defect. If a bracket snaps, the bracket should be replaceable. At this point, the bracket needs to be replaced and so does the bumper.

The sensor system for my car are malfunctioning when the car is off. This causes the fuse system to malfunction and power the vehicle without keys being located near the vehicle. The car tries to start as well as the lights flash, dash turns on, and also the horn blares. The fuse system located under the steering wheel sounds like it will spark or blow fuses. The dealer is unable to fix the problem until May because the part is backordered due to many others having the same issue. This has been occurring for months. This issue required the removal of the horn fuse which is a public and personal safety hazard to drive without a functioning horn. The technician with Honda also mentioned I should remove the battery cable every night to prevent the car from draining the battery. The technician himself is also experiencing the same problem with his car.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated with a faint smell of a gasoline odor. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors and joint pipe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The contact believed that the vehicle was included in an unknown recall. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY MAKES A JUDDERING JERKING SOUND AND HESITATES WHILE DRIVING. HONDA HAS FLUSHED MY TRANSMISSION MANY TIMES UNDER SEVICE BULLETIN 17-014, 17-015 AND THE REPAIR IS SHORT LIVED. HONDA STOPS HONORING THE EXTENDED SERVICE BULLETIN AFTER 80K. THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST SINCE 2016 YET THE DON'T FIX OR ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THEY MERELY OFFER FREE TRANS FLUSHES TILL 80K MILES AND THEN YOUR ON YOUR OWN. MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET YET HONDA DOES NOTHING MEANINGFUL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS A 2017 HONDA PILOT EX-L

When car is off and locked, alarm will go off unexpectedly. There is a repeated clicking noise and the lights on the dash will flicker and it sounds and appears like the car is trying to start itself. Very disconcerting to have an electrical issue, particularly where the car seems to want to start itself. Also can’t lock it overnight as alarm will continuously go off. Problem is all over owner forums for 2016 Pilots. Honda needs to investigate. Dealer tried to fix but doesn’t seem able to identify issue.

Purchased the vehicle in Salisbury, MD, now live in Hagerstown, MD. Between the dealer purchased from (Pohanka Honda) and the dealer where we live (Hagerstown Honda) I can not get the recall corrected. One dealer tells me to call the other then the other dealer tells me to call the first dealer. I’ve tried and tried to get this resolved with no satisfaction.

I was driving the car on a one way street. When the A/T Temp came on, the car slowed down and then eventually stopped. I was 1min from my destination. I got it towed home, til I can get it to the shop. I just brought the car. The mechanic said the transmission has a lot of metal piece inside of it.
