The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. The contact stated that the steering wheel was sticking. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with steering gear box and rack and pinion failures. The contact was informed that the steering gear box and rack and pinon needed to be replaced. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall associated with the failure. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and a case was filed. The contact was provided a loyalty discount towards the cost of the repair, however the dealer declined. The manufacturer was informed that the contact was not a loyal customer. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

A county wide emergency alert broadcast a very loud alert received by my 2024 CRv's infotainment system. This caused a spike in the car's electrical power. This confused the Idle Stop System. This caused my car to stall in the middle of a left turn onto a heavily trafficked road ([XXX] in [XXX].) I was very lucky that the other cars in the intersection were able to stop, so ther was no collision in this particular case. My 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid (125,000 miles) has repeatedly lost propulsion power at highway speeds. On Sept. 19, 2026, the vehicle suddenly lost drive power, slowed rapidly, and came to a complete stop in high-speed traffic. The dashboard displayed: “Critical Failure Detected. Stop Driving When Safe” and “Power System Problem. Do Not Drive.” The vehicle had to be turned off and restarted three times before enough power returned to move off the road. No crash occurred, but there was a serious risk of being rear-ended. The vehicle has come to a complete stop twice, and similar power-loss events have occurred multiple times. The same problem resulted in five dealership visits: • Aug. 29: Catalytic converter replaced under California emissions warranty; problem continued. • Sept. 8: Code C1870-00 detected; codes cleared; no repair addressing the failure. • Sept. 15: Code P06AF detected; fuel pump assembly replaced; problem continued. • Sept. 17: Dealership reported “fuel dilution” and drained the tank; failure recurred two days later. • Sept. 20: Returned after the Sept. 19 highway incident. The dealership has documented the repeated problem, but the root cause remains unresolved. Restarting the vehicle temporarily restores power, which may complicate diagnosis. Because the loss of propulsion occurs suddenly at highway speeds, there are sometimes no safe places to pull over. I am aware of NHTSA Preliminary Evaluation PE25016 concerning loss of motive power in 2020–2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid vehicles. My symptoms appear similar, although I am not claiming they have been determined to be the same defect.

I an experiencing "sticky steering" notably at freeway speeds on warmer days. The steering wheel will catch when I attempt lane corrections and suddenly release with a small clunk causing the vehicle to lurch in the direction of the steer. I see that 2022-2024 Honda CRVs are covered under a recall for "sticky steering" but not the 2018-2021 model years even though there is the same problem as evidenced by numerous complaints on the Honda forum. Can Honda be persuaded to include these earlier model CRVs experiencing the same problem? Luckily I have an Honda Motor Company extended warranty which I hope will cover the cost of repairs as this is an unsafe situation, especially for my petite wife.

- #11765715September 20, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
NHTSA SAFETY COMPLAINT SUMMARY Vehicle Identification: 2021 Honda CR-V Touring (1.5L Turbo) Current Mileage: 91,259 miles Failed Component: High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) & Associated High-Pressure Fuel System Diagnostic Trouble Codes: P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low) Technician Diagnostic Findings & Symptoms: Vehicle experienced sudden loss of power, erratically low fuel pressure under load, hard starting, and multiple dash warning lights. Independent repair shop technician confirmed the High-Pressure Fuel Pump was internally failing and dropping fuel pressure under load. The failing pump caused low fuel pressure readings at the fuel rail, resulting in severe engine power loss while driving. Total Repair Estimate Amount: $3,222.65 HPFP Assembly Replacement: $1,453.78 Fuel Pressure Rail Replacement: $1,193.80 Spark Plugs Replacement: $318.00 Engine Oil/Filter Change: $69.65 Safety Hazard Narrative: The internal mechanical failure of the high-pressure fuel pump causes a sudden loss of engine power and hesitation during vehicle acceleration, posing a severe traffic hazard and risk of rear-end collision when merging onto highways. Furthermore, internal HPFP failures on Honda 1.5L direct-injection engines can result in fuel dilution into the engine crankcase, risking major engine damage.

I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding our 2023 Honda CR-V because of repeated and increasingly serious problems involving the vehicle's computer/electronic systems, automatic steering/driver-assistance systems, and automatic braking system. My wife and I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle. The problems have occurred repeatedly during September 2026 and have now reached the point where an unexpected hard-braking event caused me neck pain and I am scheduling an appointment with my doctor for evaluation. INCIDENT TIMELINE September 5, 2026: The vehicle began experiencing computer/electronic malfunctions. This was the beginning of the recent series of problems we have experienced with the vehicle. September 9, 2026: While driving, the vehicle unexpectedly began steering on its own. The steering intervention almost caused a collision by directing the vehicle toward active traffic. We did not intentionally place the vehicle into an automatic steering mode. I had to intervene and regain control of the vehicle to prevent a possible accident. This was not the only incident. At this point, my wife and I estimate that we have had to intervene approximately eight times to prevent the vehicle's unexpected behavior from potentially causing an accident. September 10, 2026: Additional unexpected automatic steering/driver-assistance behavior occurred. Again, we had not intentionally activated automatic steering. September 12, 2026: Another incident involving unexpected steering intervention occurred while operating the vehicle. September 15, 2026: The vehicle again exhibited unexpected steering/driver-assistance behavior that required driver intervention. September 19, 2026, approximately 4:30 PM: The vehicle unexpectedly applied the brakes extremely hard. The automatic braking event was sudden and severe and nearly created another traffic incident. The force of the braking caused my body to move suddenly and I developed neck pain following the incide

2017 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD, 1.5L turbo. Vehicle has experienced persistent rough running/idle, random misfires, and hesitation/jerking during acceleration. Genuine Honda OEM fuel injectors were replaced and the system was recalibrated, but the symptoms have persisted. Spark plugs have also previously been replaced. I became aware of NHTSA Recall 23V-858 involving fuel pump impeller failure in certain 2017–2022 Honda CR-V vehicles. Honda’s VIN-specific recall lookup currently shows no active recall for my vehicle. I am concerned that my vehicle may be experiencing a fuel-delivery problem similar to the condition addressed by Recall 23V-858 despite my VIN not being included in the recall population. The fuel pump has not yet been confirmed as the cause. I am submitting this complaint so the symptoms and VIN are documented and can be considered in determining whether vehicles outside the current recall population may experience a similar defect.

At 29,100 miles on the odometer I started noticing a little difference in the steering, especially at low speeds. There were no dashboard warning messages. I took it to a local Honda Service Center (Vatland Honda) and they diagnosed the problem as "Electric steering rack internal failure" and an estimated repair cost approaching $6,000 after taxes and fees. They said there's no way to predict if or when the power steering would completely fail, but it could be a sudden event. I left with the impression that even total steering failure was a possibility. Because of the high cost estimate, I took it to a second Service Center (Coggin Honda) for an estimate. They checked the car and came to the same conclusion as the first Service Center. However, their cost of repair was lower ($5,375 including tax), and I had them repair the car yesterday (9/17/26). I had also contacted Honda America and asked if they would agree to cover this repair under warranty even though I'm beyond the warranty time period. I felt there must have been a manufacturing defect to have a failure of this type at such low mileage. They reviewed my request and agreed to pay 80% of the repair cost. I'm grateful that Honda America has covered most of the cost, but I'm filing this report because I've read on some online forums that other 2020 Honda CRV owners have had a similar problem. If this is more than just an isolated event, I feel a recall may be warranted for this car part.

My 2022 Honda CRV Hybrid is experiencing the widely documented 'sticky seering' medhanical defect, causing the vehicle to momentarily catch, stick and jerk at highway speeds, creating a severe overcorrection and crash hazard. The dealership (Skyway Honda Bartlesville, OK) confirmed the rack and pinion system is failing but wants to charge me almost $4789.87 in parts/labor to repair it because Honda corporate has not yet extended the official 24v-744 recall to the 2022 model year. Honda service advisor was able to reproduce the issues No warning lights or messages

No warning lamps. Steering is "sticky". Driving at higher speeds such as on the interstate. Steering to the left then when straightening the steering wheel, it is sticky. Dangerous especially at higher speeds. May cause the driver to over correct steering. Putting them and others around them in danger of colliding. Other Honda Crv models have recalls for this issue. My vehicle is no safer with the issue and deserves to be addressed as well.

While driving on a mountain road/ 2 lane highway, I experienced a sudden momentary freezing of my steering. I saw a warning flash on my dashboard and thought I saw the word "steering". I pulled over, turned my car off and then back on to "reset" the computer. I traveled a bit further, in an attempt to get to the nearest business, so I could pull over and call a tow truck, but before I could do so, I experienced the same thing a second time. I saw a warning flash on my dash again, but did not see the words. Both times it occurred, I could not steer but it unlocked quickly. When these two incidents occurred, I was within the lanes and not crossing over a painted line on the highway. Both times it occurred, I could not move my steering wheel, as if the power steering was no longer active. I had my car towed to the closest Honda Service Center, and they said they could not find a computer code and were not able to replicate it. It was transferred to the dealership and was reassessed, but they had the same conclusion. I was told that it was the "lane assist", but my lane assist setting had never been turned on since I bought the car. I tried to explain that but they insisted it was lane assist. I sent the Service Center Manager some information I found online regarding the previous reports of steering freezing up on the gas powered 2026 Honda CRVs, and he offered to "replace my rack". Today, those repairs should be done, but I am not clear if the replacement parts are the same parts and whether or not that repair will guarantee that the same problem will not occur in the future.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH and turning right, the steering wheel was sticking. The failure was a recurring failure. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V663000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was contacted and stated that the cost of the repair was not covered because the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with steering gearbox failure. The independent mechanic associated the failure with the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

Honda Dealership (Grainger Honda in [XXX]) replaced a steering neck on my 2020 Honda CRV at approximately 87,000 miles in XXX The vehicle was brought into the dealership in XXX with symptoms of loose steering, creaks/groans during turns/curves and the steering wheel was catching during turns/corners. The recommendation by Honda was to replace the struts, which was completed at another location. The symptoms became evident again in the summer of 2026 and in XXX was advised by Honda to replace the steering neck. The dealership had to order the part and advised that this was a safety issue, and the car should not be driven until repair completed. The replacement of the steering neck resolved the steering issues with the vehicle. . My family had been driving an unsafe vehicle since 2025? No warnings from vehicle system. The 2020 Honda CRV was not part of a recall; however 2023-2025 Honda CRVs had a recall for the same issue with steering neck and symptoms aligned with symptoms experienced with a 2020 model. I have filed a complaint with American Honda as the repairs cost over $5,000 and failure of this critical component is outside expectations for a vehicle of this age and mileage. This supplements Complaint #11763145, filed 9/9/2026, regarding the same vehicle: 2019 Honda CR-V. On September 10, 2026 at approximately 7:33 PM, near CHOP Primary Care (High Point location), PA, the check engine light began flashing and the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate -- it could only slow down. I pulled over and restarted the engine, after which it drove normally. This is a repeat of the loss-of-acceleration incident described in the original complaint from September 8, 2026, which also involved a flashing check engine light and complete loss of acceleration while driving.

For the second time this year, all dash warning lights activated. In April, it was diagnosed as a failed battery, which we replaced. This week, the warning lights came back. The car is at Bobby Rahal Honda now, and they say the fuel injectors are faililng. We have authorized the repair, which will cost $1900+. I have subsequently turned to Dr. Google and Grok, and fuel injector failure is a common, known issue for this model based on searches of NHTSA, Honda forums, and elsewhere--though our VIN is not currently showing any recalls, and our dealer is charging us full price for the repair. This appears to be a widespread problem with the 2017 CR-V, and I would suggest that this has significant safety implications. I would like to see this escalated to a full recall, with reimbursement for repairs already completed and paid for.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring issue with my 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5T AWD EX in which numerous warning/error lights appear simultaneously on the dashboard. I previously brought the vehicle to Brookdale Honda, an authorized Honda dealership in Minnesota, specifically because multiple dashboard warning lights had appeared. The dealership scanned the vehicle and documented diagnostic trouble code P0172 ("Fuel System Too Rich"). An air/fuel test was performed, and the dealership diagnosed failing fuel injectors. Based on Honda's diagnosis and recommendation, I authorized replacement of the fuel injectors and spark plugs. The fuel injector repair alone was approximately $1,790. During the same service visit, Honda also performed the applicable fuel-pump safety recall repair. I relied on the authorized Honda dealership's diagnosis and understood that the problem responsible for the warning lights had been corrected. Unfortunately, the same concerning condition has now returned, with numerous warning lights again appearing on the dashboard. My vehicle has fewer than 100,000 miles and has consistently been serviced through authorized Honda dealerships. I am concerned that this recurring condition may indicate an underlying defect rather than normal maintenance. Having numerous vehicle-system warnings appear simultaneously is also concerning from a safety perspective because a driver may not be able to determine which warnings represent an immediate safety problem. I am asking NHTSA to document this complaint and evaluate whether other 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5T owners have reported similar occurrences involving multiple dashboard warnings, P0172/fuel-system conditions, or fuel injector failures. I can provide the original Honda diagnosis and repair invoices, proof of repair, and photographs showing the recurring dashboard warnings.
